Leaving the Shire/meeting Samwise
3rd POV:
Bilbo sneaked over to his hole and reappeared when the door closed. He walked a few steps before being seen by Gandalf.
"I suppose you think that was terribly clever?" Gandalf scolded.
"Come on, Gandalf! Did you see their faces?" Bilbo asked happily.
"There are many magic rings in the world, Bilbo Baggins, and none of them should be used lightly," Gandalf said firmly.
"It was just a bit of fun! Oh, you're probably right as usual. You will keep an eye on Frodo, won't you? I'm leaving everything to him," Bilbo said as he was gathering his stuff.
"What about this ring of yours? Is that staying too?" Gandalf asked, concerned.
Yes, yes, it's in an envelope, over there on the mantelpiece." He reached into his pocket to feel the ring inside. "No, wait. It's here in my pocket. Isn't that- isn't that odd now? Yet, after all, why not? Why shouldn't I keep it?"
"I think you should leave the Ring behind, Bilbo. Is that so hard?" Gandalf asked calmly.
"Well, no...and yes. Now it comes to it, I don't feel like parting with it. It's mine. I found it. It came to me!" Bilbo said greedily.
"There's no need to get angry," Gandalf said.
"Well, if I'm angry, it's your fault! It's mine. My own, my precious," Bilbo hissed.
"Precious? It's been called that before, but not by you," Gandalf said concerned.
"So? What business is it of yours what I do with my own things?" Bilbo snarled.
"I think you've had that ring quite long enough," Gandalf stated.
"You want it for yourself!" Bilbo exclaimed.
The room went dark, and Gandalf's voice boomed. "Bilbo Baggins! Do not take me for some conjurer of cheap tricks! I am not trying to rob you. I am trying to help you."
Bilbo ran to Gandalf and hugged him. Gandalf looked down at Bilbo. "All your long years we've been friends. Trust me as you once did. Let it go!"
"You're right, Gandalf. The ring must go to Frodo. It's late, the road is long. Yes, it is time," Bilbo said grabbing his stuff and opening the door to his home.
Gandalf cleared his throat. "Bilbo? The ring is still in your pocket."
"Oh, yes." He took the ring out of his pocket, let drop out of his hands, and onto the ground. He then walked out of his home and stopped at the gate. "I've thought up an ending for my book. 'And he lived happily ever after to the end of his days.'"
"I'm sure you will, my dear friend. Goodbye Bilbo," Gandalf said quietly.
Bilbo sighed before turning to Gandalf. "Goodbye, Gandalf."
Bilbo turned around started walking away from his home, humming a tune to entertain himself while on the journey. Gandalf watched Bilbo until he could no longer see the hobbit from his eyesight.
Gandalf went back inside and looked at the ring in hesitation. He then touched the ring but repelled from it as soon as he felt evil entering his mind. He walked over to the fire and sat down to the smoke. A moment later, Frodo and Ellia ran into the home to see Gandalf smoking.
"He's gone, hasn't he? He talked for so long about leaving... I didn't think he'd really do it," Frodo said sorrowfully.
Ellia noticed her grandfather acting strangely so she went to touch his shoulder. As soon as she did, Gandalf looked up at Ellia then looked at the ring in Frodo's hand. He then got up and went towards Bilbo's map.
"He's gone to stay with the Elves. He's left you Bag End along with all his possessions." He grabbed an envelope, and had Frodo place the ring in the envelope, and sealed it before handing it to Frodo.
"The ring is yours now. Put it somewhere out of sight." Gandalf said as he rises and starts to gather his things. He started to walk to the door when Frodo and Ellia rushed to meet him at the entrance.
"Where are you going?" asked Ellia.
"I have some things I must see too. "
"What things?"
"Questions. Questions that need answering."
"You've only just arrived! I don't understand! "
Neither do I.
He turns to Ellia and gets closer before whispering into her ear. "Keep it secret, keep it safe."
**Spongebob Voice: TWO DAYS LATER** (Frodo POV)
I don't know what is going on, but the last time I saw Gandalf whisper something to Annabeth before leaving. It's been two days and I've been getting worried. At least Annabeth has been adjusting to living in the hole in the ground and the people of the shire are starting to like her. But I can't help but notice a slight change to her human features. Her cheekbones are becoming more prominent and her ears are becoming pointed.
Annabeth and I were walking home to see the door open. I saw her pull out a dagger from her sleeve and walk in front of me before going into the house. I walked in behind her to see the place all torn up. I suddenly felt a hand on my shoulder and I jumped. She must have sensed it because she turned around and pulled me behind her with her dagger at the ready. Gandalf stepped out of the shadows.
"Is it secret? Is it safe?" he asked.
(3rd POV)
Frodo grabbed the envelope that encased the ring and Gandalf threw it in the fire.
"What are you doing?" asked Ellia.
Gandalf took the ring out of the fire and looked at Frodo. "Hold out your hand, Frodo. It's quite cool.'
Gandalf placed the ring in Frodo's hand. "Both of you, what can you see?"
"Nothing, there's nothing," Frodo said.
"What do you mean? There are markings on the ring," Ellia said taking the ring. "It's the same markings on the book! Gandalf what does this mean?"
"I was afraid of this. Ellia, you and Frodo are in more danger than you know. The marking on the ring and in the book are special and very few people can read it. The ring says 'One ring to rule them all, One ring to find them, One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them'" Gandalf said before walking into the kitchen.
A few moments later, Gandalf light his pipe and Frodo was serving Ellia tea.
"So, let me get this straight, Sauron died but his spirit lived on and no one wanted to pursue him to make sure that he's dead for good?" Ellia asked.
"And you're name is Ellia?" Frodo asked.
"Yes, my real name is Ellia Walsh."
"Not here, my dear," Gandalf said.
"What? Why not?" Ellia asked.
"Your name is known to Sauron as soon as you entered Middle Earth. And your true name is yet to be discovered."
"Yet to be discovered? What the hell does that mean?"
"It will all be discovered in due time, my dear," Gandalf said before getting up. "You must leave the Shire and head to Bree. As soon as you get there, you will go to the prancing pony, I will waiting for you there. But I must consult the head of my order first before I go there."
As soon as Frodo packed his bag and met up with Gandalf and Ellia, he and the others heard rustling in the bushes. Frodo hid under the table while Ellia drew her dagger and Gandalf pointed his staff to the window. He then hit the bush only to hear a grunt from a person. Ellia grabbed the man and dragged him inside and pinned him to the table. Gandalf looked at the person before addressing them.
"Samwise Gamgee! Have you been eavesdropping?!" Gandalf exclaimed.
I've been dropping no eaves, Mr. Gandalf. I just was trimming the grass there, if you get me," Sam said.
"A little late to be trimming the verge, aren't we? What did you hear, speak!" Gandalf exclaimed.
"Nothing important, just a great deal about a dark lord and a ring and Annabeth not being Annabeth and that she and Mr. Frodo are in trouble. Please, Mr. Gandalf, don't turn me into anything unnatural," Sam pleaded.
Gandalf looked at Ellia and then looked at Sam with a smirk. "No, I think I may have a better use for you."
** TIME SKIP**
"Hurry up Samwise!" Ellia said as he saw him drag behind. As soon as he caught up to her and the others, Ellia looked behind to see the Shire for the last time before moving on.
Ellia hugged Gandalf. "So, which way is Bree?"
"Frodo and Sam should know the way, my dear. You must protect Frodo and Sam at all costs. I wished I could've kept you from this a while longer but that is not the case," Gandalf said sorrowfully.
"What do you mean? Grandfather, please tell me!" Ellia whispered.
"I can not, not now. When you get to Bree, I will explain everything, I promise." Gandalf said before holding out his pinky.
Ellia locked her pinky with his. "You better keep it, old man."
"Ellia, we have to go," Frodo said.
"Make sure you keep off the road," Gandalf said while he points to the cornfields. "Good luck, all of you."
"Thank you, grandfather. You too."
Ellia, Sam, and Frodo watched Gandalf leave on his horse and then they turned into the maze of corn and grain.
