Epilogue
3rd Person's POV
Flashback from younger days...
"Anthon!" Little Robert grinned when he saw his friend who was seating quietly on the empty bench just outside his house.
It was summer time and Anthony will be spending time with his bestfriend. It has been more than ten years since he ran away and he heard nothing from his parents.
They never even panicked when he left without leaving a note from them. As if, he was never born.
He watched with silent anger when a girl who is about four years younger than him ran to his biological mother as if she owns the world.
The bright and happy smiles of his parents are too heartbreaking to see. It should be him. Not her.
"Oh, I see you have been watching Evie." Robert said and sat beside him.
They are approaching their high school years and he asked his adoptive parents to let him stay for awhile with Robert's before he starts his highschool life. He met him when he was running away from his family.
His mother took him in but clouded with anger, he asked if he could stay in another house where they cannot see him which they understandingly did.
They made him stay with Robert's cousin and eventually took care of him.
"So, Evie is her name. I thought it was Disney." He muttered under his breath not taking his eyes off of her.
"Come over here, kids. Lunch is ready!" Robert's mother, Lauren, smiled brightly at him. Her smile grew wider when she saw who was approaching their side which Anthony didn't notice.
Anthony stood up and Evie bumped into him.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry." She mumbled apologetically as she bumped into his chest and accidentally sniffed his perfume. She coughed in response.
Robert let out a low chuckle.
"You're too tall, bro! No wonder, she crashed right into you!" He commented and slapped his shoulder playfully.
Anthony remained silent and subtly watched Evie greeted Robert's mom. From the looks of it, she seemed to be comfortable with them.
He was contemplating whether to begin with his plans but decided against it.
Years passed and he encountered a bubbly version of Evie. In a bar.
He was whipped by her. He wants her.
He was attracted. He started to get comfy with her at the back of the room but when he was about to get to the next level, he was taken aback by her actions. She hastily pulled herself away from him and slapped him hard.
He was angry. He yanked her arm and dragged her to the private room upstairs but she was strong. She happened to come across an empty coat rack and had him tripped. He fell head first. She left him hanging. Good thing, someone passed by the room and called ambulance. Else, he'll be dead before dawn.
He also learnt about his parents' death. And soon, monitored Evie closely.
He also discovered his alter-ego.
Alfonso.
The boisterous, confident one.
The aggressive persona.
His intrepid self.
He learned his desire to collect body parts and make them into a masterpiece.
A replica of his parents.
Thus, the killings.
He finally had the chance to get Evie when she was off-guard.
He will make her pay for what his parents went through.
They won't be dead if they hadn't met her.
It was her fault.
She, too, deserves to die.
---
Detective McGonagall pressed on the gas as hard as he could. He must get there quick to save Evie and find fhe answers to his questions.
He also wants to prove that his instincts are right. That she isn't responsible for the murders.
The sky is getting dark. They were few cars on the road but he still couldn't will himself to speed up. He couldn't risk his safety. He wouldn't be able to work for his people if he would be careless.
Then, his phone rang. He pressed it on and answered the call.
"We're on it. This is a deserted resort house!" SP01 Fields commented over the phone.
"Quit talking and find Thames and Felicio! He's about to get her killed!" Detective McGonagall bellowed. His nervousness and anxiety are getting the best of him.
He should save her.
Else, his career is over.
---
Evie woke up to the sound of machine beside her. White ceilings and walls greeted her. She realized that she was saved.
She is alive.
She turned her head to the side and saw two detectives talking. One of them saw her and left.
"Glad you are awake, Felicio." The guy who's a lot older than her said as he approached her side. "Detective Clint McGonagall, at your service. Care to tell us what happened?"
She nodded and tried to sit up but was too weak to do so.
"Don't bother. Can you talk while you're lying there? I will just adjust your bed, instead." He said and once he got her approval, did so.
The interview began and he promised to get Thames locked up for good.
In a matter of few days, evidences and witnesses emerged.
Anthony Thames, sentenced and jailed.
Evaluated by the psychologists and get treated for life.
Evie Felicio became cleared and treated for post-traumatic stress disorder.
The town of Vanderbiltz became peaceful again.
