Chapter 4: Hargeon
Lucy's POV
"Thank you." I thank the shop owner and walk off with my basket of food on my waist. The baby bump was getting more and more obvious. It was my 2nd trimester and I've already had to buy larger clothes.
The rain started to pour and was drenching anything below the clouds. I threw my hoodie over my head and hid the food under my cloak. I made my way to the edge of the forest, passing by the crowd of on goers. My cabin was just a couple of Miles away from the large city. It was just a rental but it was pretty decent.
I opened the door to the old shack and placed the basket on the nearby counter before taking off my cloak and hanging it on a hook.
The cabin was just large enough to fit a kitchen, half of a living room, and half of a bedroom. The kitchen was wood and had chipped yellow painted walls. Wooden Cabinets aligned the walls and a simple gas stove and sink. There was a small icebox in the corner that I use for storing meats and frozen goods, and a simple island with chairs in the middle of the kitchen.
The bedroom just had a small wall as a divider and parallel columns lined up to make a large doorway. There was a rusty old couch and a queen-sized bed in the corner, and a large rug to top it all off. I had found a small baby crib thrown to the curb and decided to restore it and claim it as my own.
There was very little food in the house, but it was enough to support a family of two.
I began organizing my food in the cabinets and placing them all over. When I was finished I placed the empty basket near the door for its next round of errands. I immediately go over to my couch and fell upon it, before drifting into a light slumber.
I woke up in a frenzy realizing what time it was. Shoot! My shift! I get up and boost myself to my feet. Thank goodness the morning sickness has slowly began to fade, or else I would have been a wreck.
I swing my cloak around my neck and tighten it before pulling the hoodie over my blonde hair. The door opens with a creak and I step out into the moist atmosphere. Thankfully, the rain had stopped. Yet, the after affect still lingered. Small droplets would fall from the trees, almost creating its own little rainstorm. I walked along the path heading towards the ruckus of Hargeon.
"Excuse me?" That voice. Erza's voice played over and over in my head. She was here?! I stop at a abrupt halt. The dust of the dirt road surrounding my brown boots.
"Yes?" I say with a scratchy voice. I tried my best to mask it, but I didn't know if it would last long.
"Do you know where the Library is?" Erza continued. I didn't dare turn around.
"Yes, it is west of Hargeon." I heard faint panicking behind me.
"Could you show us where that is?" Gajeel grunted. He was here too?!?
"Heh, it says right here on the flier. I'm pretty sure we can find it." Levy implored.
"Would you mind?" The sound of his voice brought tears to my eyes. Natsu was here as well. Did they bring the whole guild?! Dang you emotions.
"N-No," I stumbled on my words as I walked ahead.
"Why thank you," Erza said happily. I didn't turn around to face them, not even a glance. I could hear their hushed footsteps behind me. I wanted to see them so bad. I wanted to turn around and jump into their arms.
I was too lost in thought to even notice the rocks below my feet. I stumbled on them, but I was quick to catch my balance.
"Are you alright?" Levy asked.
"Nah, she's probably drunk or something," Gray pestered. You could hear a loud smack from the group behind me.
"What was that for Flame Brain?!" Gray roared. Yet, the strange thing was, Natsu didn't fight back. He didn't even have a comeback.
We had reached the edge of the forest and was now entering the city of Hargeon. The large chatter of people made it hard to hear the group behind me.
"You know, I met a friend here a long time ago. Haven't seen her in a while," I choked on my spit and replied in a raspy voice.
"R-Really?" My eyes began to sting. I was on the verge of tears but stopped myself from bursting into a stampede of emotions.
"Yeah. She's been missing for a while. I do miss her," I could feel his glare on me.
"I miss you too..." I whispered.
"What was that?" Gajeel's voice boomed in my ears.
"Sorry, sorry. I was just talking to myself. Your story just reminded me of mine."
"What's your story then?" Erza asked. A sigh escaped my lips.
"Well. One day, I was on a mission for my wizard guild like you all. I had a close friend of mine with me, we finished the job and decided to celebrate with a couple of drinks." I felt tears threatening to spill. "It got a little out of hand, and a couple of days later I became ill. Not knowing what had come over me, I called a friend. She suggested for me try out something, and I later found out I was pregnant. It wasn't what I expected, and definitely not what I needed at the time. So in a fear of his reaction, I fled," I heard Levy sniffling behind me.
"W-What happened next?" Erza asked with pity in her voice.
"My story is yet to be finished," I conclude. Saying those words made me feel better.
It was true. My story was yet to be finished, and there is no way of knowing what would happen next.
