"Have fun and be safe! Your father and I would come with you to Augustine's lab, but we're just so busy with the ranch." A woman spoke, the Ambipom next to her waving with its free tail. They both seemed to be doing hard labor. A Buneary stood looking through the fence nearby.

"I know, I know. Bye, Mom. Bye, Ambipom!" A feminine-presenting teenager holding an Eevee spoke, rolling their eyes, before mumbling, "As always, the ranch is the most important thing. More important than even five seconds with me."

The Riolu standing next to them growled at the woman, unhappy with how she was treating his trainer.

"Riolu, it's alright. There's no reason to growl." His trainer spoke bending down to pet his head.

The Riolu seemed to comply, although he still glared at the woman. The Eevee simply looked up at her trainer, worriedly. The woman ignored them and continued to do her work.

It was at this moment two girls ran up to where the group was standing. One had green hair and blue eyes, whereas the other had dark brown hair and dark bluish-green eyes. She also notably wore glasses and a Poochyena followed her.

"Lilli!" The green-haired girl exclaimed, waving at the light brown-haired teen with an Eevee.

"Taylor! Rachel!" Came Lilli's response.

"We're all ready to go, right?" The third teen, supposedly Rachel, questioned as the Poochyena behind her ran into her legs.

She smiled as she bent down to pet the bite Pokemon.

"Yeah!" Lilli and Taylor chanted.

The Riolu pumped its fist into the air as the Eevee squealed happily. The Poochyena licked Rachel's face as she picked him up.

The following short walk to the lab was rather uneventful, with the lab only being a couple of minutes away from the ranch, which would make sense, considering many Kalosian trainers' Pokemon are taken care of at the ranch. When they arrived, Taylor, being the only one without a Pokemon in her arms, slammed the lab doors open.

The three people who were in the room's heads shot up, looking to the door.

"Sorry!" Taylor quickly apologized as she walked in, Lilli and Rachel following.

"Clemont! Bonnie!" Lilli exclaimed upon seeing the sibling duo.

"Oh, it's Lilli and her friends." Clemont spoke, being the first to react, "Hello!"

"Lilli! Hi! You're finally going on a journey?" Bonnie questioned.

"Right. I'll be traveling with these two, Rachel and Taylor." Lilli introduced her friends.

"It's nice to meet you!" The four other minors spoke.

During this short conversation, Professor Sycamore left to get the four Pokemon set aside for the trio. Once he returned, he immediately tossed one of the Pokeballs to Taylor, who caught it.

She tossed the Pokeball up to reveal a Treecko, freshly sent from Professor Birch in the Hoenn Region. The Treecko started to wave at her, only stopping once it realized just who she was.

"It's you!" It exclaimed, climbing onto Taylor's head.

"Hi, bud! It's been a while, hasn't it!" Taylor exclaimed before turning to the Professor, "Thanks!"

The Kalosian professor nodded in response before turning to the duo with Pokemon in their arms, "I know neither of you probably want a starter Pokemon, but I'm legally required to at least offer you one."

He then released the three Pokemon, revealing a Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle.

"It's Kanto trio day?!" Lilli questioned.

The professor nodded, "I mean, it is Thursday."

Rachel allowed Lilli to look at the trio first. Starting with Squirtle, Lilli took a good look at all three.

Squirtle seemed to be a bit aloof. It stood with its arms crossed as it looked away. It didn't even notice Lilli looking at it, as it wasn't paying attention. Despite this, it looked rather relaxed.

Charmander was overconfident. For one, it wouldn't shut up, presumably about how it was sure it was going to be chosen. It held its head high, had its arms crossed, and avoided Lilli's eye contact.

Bulbasaur seemed to be Charmander's total opposite, self-doubting and timid. It also avoided eye contact at first, but it looked toward the ground rather than the sky. It was using its vines to hold onto Professor Sycamore's leg. However, unlike the other two, it did eventually meet Lilli's gaze.

As the duo made eye contact, they both felt something that told them, if they didn't go with each other now, fate would find a way. Bulbasaur let go of Professor Sycamore's leg and slowly walked towards Lilli, unsure. Lilli sat Eevee down between themself and Riolu and took a crouched position as Bulbasaur carefully approached.

Once Bulbasaur had gotten close, Lilli started talking, voice soft, "My name's Lilli. This is Eevee and that's Riolu. Would you like to come along with us?"

"'Yeah... If it's okay?" Came the grass-poison type's hesitant reply, wrapping one of its vines around Lilli's left wrist.

Lilli nodded then stood up, voice wavering, "I know before I said I wouldn't be taking a starter, but Bulbasaur wants to come along with. That's okay with you, right?"

"That'd be marvelous!" Came Sycamore's response.

"Bulbasaur seems to really like you!" Bonnie observed.

Professor Sycamore handed Lilli Bulbasaur's pokeball before Lilli stepped to the side, their three Pokemon following. Rachel moved into her place, squatting to look at the two Pokemon on their level and sitting her Poochyena next to her. Unlike with Lilli, the aloof Squirtle seemed to notice Rachel's presence and looked at her.

"Hi." Rachel whispered to the water-type.

The Squirtle waved back before running up to her, "Are you going to get me out of this place? You seem nice. Can I come with you?"

Rachel blinked, "You're asking if you can come along?"

Poochyena sniffed the water-type as it nodded.

"Of course you can!" She smiled, getting up and turning to Professor Sycamore, "I choose Squirtle."

"Marvelous!" He handed the girl Squirtle's pokeball.

The Charmander started throwing a tantrum, unhappy that it didn't get picked. The Professor sighed as Garchomp came in and calmed it down. He then returned the fire-type to its Pokeball while Clemont, Bonnie, and Lilli all greeted Garchomp.

Once Lilli was done talking to the dragon-type, Professor Sycamore spoke up, "And here are your Pokedexes!"

He handed a lavender Kalos Pokedex to Lilli, a blue one to Rachel, and a green one to Taylor.

"Go ahead and test them." Professor Sycamore spoke again.

The trio nodded, moving to scan their Pokemon with their new pokedexes. Lilli first scanned Eevee.

"Eevee, the Evolution Pokemon. Normal type. A rare Pokémon that adapts to harsh environments by taking on different evolutionary forms. This Eevee is female and knows the moves Double Kick, Baby-Doll Eyes, Tackle, and Covet. This Eevee has a modest nature and the Run Away ability." Lilli's Pokedex shared as they scanned Eevee.

"Poochyena, the bite Pokemon. Dark-type. A Pokémon with a persistent nature, it chases its chosen prey until the prey becomes exhausted. This Poochyena is male and knows the moves Fire Fang, Ice Fang, Thunder Fang, and Bite. This Poochyena has a naughty nature and the Run Away ability." Rachel's Pokedex told as she scanned Poochyena.

"Treecko, the wood gecko Pokemon. Grass-type. Treecko has small hooks on the bottom of its feet that enable it to scale vertical walls. This Pokémon attacks by slamming foes with its thick tail. This Treecko is male and knows the moves Pound, Leer, and Leafage. This Treecko has a mild nature and the Overgrow ability." Taylor's Pokedex said as Taylor scanned Treecko.

Lilly then moved on to scan Riolu, "Riolu, the emanation Pokemon. Fighting-type. It can use waves called auras to gauge how others are feeling. These same waves can also tell this Pokémon about the state of the environment. This Riolu is male and knows the moves Quick Attack, Feint, Metal Claw, and Bullet Punch. This Riolu has a hasty nature and the Inner Focus ability."

Rachel then proceeded to check her Squirtle on her Pokedex, "Squirtle, the tiny turtle Pokemon. Water-type. When it retracts its long neck into its shell, it squirts out water with vigorous force. This Squirtle is male and knows the moves Aura Sphere, Tackle, Tail Whip, and Water Gun. This Squirtle has a relaxed nature and the Torrent ability."

Finally, Lilli checked Bulbasaur on their Pokedex, "Bulbasaur, the seed Pokemon. Grass and Poison-type. While it is young, it uses the nutrients that are stored in the seed on its back in order to grow. This Bulbasaur is female and knows the moves Petal Dance, Tackle, Growl, and Vine Whip. This Bulbasaur has a timid nature and the Overgrow ability."

"This Pokedex shares a Pokemon's gender, moveset, nature, and ability?" Clemont, who had been quiet for quite a while, questioned, "Ash's and Serena's didn't do that."

"Only for Pokemon officially registered to you." The Professor replied, "Lilli, could you scan one of the other Pokemon for me?"

"Yeah!" They replied, moving to scan Garchomp.

"Garchomp, the mach Pokemon. Dragon and Ground-type. When it folds up its body and extends its wings, it looks like a jet plane. It flies at sonic speed." Lilli's pokedex read off.

Clemont nodded, satisfied.

"Well, we'll be going Uncle Augustine! Bye! And Thanks!" Lilli exclaimed, pushing open the doors, their trio of Pokemon following.

"Bye, Thanks!" Rachel and Taylor exclaimed, following, along with their Pokemon.

"Bye!" "Gar!" Clemont, Bonnie, Professor Sycamore, and Garchomp called in reply.

So, I finally created a fic centered around Lilli, my main oc. If you haven't already caught on, it takes place in the same universe of the anime, about a year after Ash's journey in Kalos, although some game elements may be added. The only major things missing from the plot right now are rivals for Rachel and Taylor and maybe a goal for Taylor, which is kinda a big problem. The only reason the goal part is a maybe is because I have an idea, but I'm not sure if it's the best route.

Also, the decision to make Professor Sycamore Lilli's uncle was a very last-second thing, but it makes sense. Who better to leave the Pokemon owned by trainers you give starters to than your sister and her family?
