The Good [Wo]man Goes To War
It was about three years ago since the Titian war, the war that the gods had won by mistake. There was a time when I despised the Titians and worshiped the gods endlessly, but that was only because I hoped to have a place in their camp. There was also a time when the thought of Camp Half-Blood didn't make my blood boil, and that time had long passed.
I was only the age of eleven when I had finally reached the borders of the camp, chased by this large thermos around four and a half feet tall and shot death rays out of the whisk that it had for an arm. The other arm looked like a toilet plunger; whoever had made them must have been short of tools or something. The machine kept shouting "EXTERMINATE!" behind me, thank Titians that it took its time as it followed me.
Tears from the horror of the situation threatened to spill out as I ran, almost escaping until hope was restored. Over the hill that I ran up, there was a sign that stood proud and tall. Camp Half-Blood, the sign displayed.
Here it's safe, here it's warm, and the strawberries guard you from every harm, I sang in my head as I sped up. A girl stood by the sign, her hair had looked exactly like mine. Her eyes stayed glued to me as I continued running, but the sign was farther than the closest part of the camp so I continued sprinting with the speed of a Black Friday shopper that sees that there's only one IPad left on the clearance table.
I hadn't known who my father was, at that moment I had believed that it was one of those low-lived gods. While the chase my heart skipped with joy for I had believed that I would die before reaching safety. I smiled brightly, panting through my teeth.
Children of all ages walked peacefully inside, smiling and laughing with their siblings and friends as they walked around the camp. The thermos monster thing behind me sped up, probably realizing that if it didn't act fast that its prey would get to safety. Rays shot continuously, making me too scared to turn around. Some hits hit the magical border that protected the camp, showing me where the border was located. When I finally reached what I thought would save my life, I smashed into the border of camp that worked like glass of a snow globe. It wouldn't allow me to come through. It made a loud booming sound, attracting attention from two boys that were sword fighting near the entrance.
"HELP!" I screamed as the machine approached, slowing down to enjoy watching the scene. My arms banged against the border that blocked me from all chances that I had to see tomorrow. "I'M A DEMIGOD, LET ME IN!"
One of the boys looked to be a few years older than me, had hair dark as night and eyes that were as green as the disgusting seaweed that everyone tries to avoid stepping on at the beach. "What is that, Luke?" he asked, squinting at the thing that was advancing.
"Don't exit the camp, Percy. That thing in indestructible," the boy that was clearly named "Luke" warned him. The boy was taller than Percy and had blonde hair. He had a scar that ran along his face.
"Please," I sobbed, hugging the border and sliding down to the ground. "Save me now!"
Neither boy moved, unsure of what to do. "We can't allow mortals in camp, you can only come in if you are a child one of the top twelve gods," the blonde Luke explained. Percy just stared at the ground, wanting nothing to do with what they thought was right.
"Can't we just allow her in?" Percy finally asked.
"She knows that this camp exists, she must be a child of a Titian if she were mistaken for a demigod," Luke responded.
"EXTERMINATE!" the unidentified hovering object screeched as it shot another death ray above my head. I turned to the monster and watched how one of the rays came out of the whisk arm and it slowly went through the air even though it usually went the speed of light. I easily dodged it, if I hadn't it would have struck my stomach.
"A daughter of Kronos," one of the boys said out loud, sounding shocked. I focused on the indestructible thing and it moved as slow as melted chocolate. It took a while until I figured out that I was the one making it slow down, I was the one with power.
I flicked an evil glare at the boys, letting them know that if they didn't regret their decision now, they soon would. I then ran off, the mechanical death ray ignored me and focused on the camp because there were many more lives in there. "EXTERMINATE!" it rumbled as is made its way to the border.
I never found out what had happened, I had left before the thing reached the border. Soon my dad, Kronos, whispered to me about secrets and plans, promising that I'd be part of them to make the camp sorry for rejecting me. I fought as a general in the war alongside my mother in the beginning. We were fighting various monsters and also convincing some to come over to the dark side.
When the war started getting hearted up, an important ship was blown up by the boy that had already messed my life up so much, Percy Jackson. Titians, that boy is everywhere. On that important ship was my mother, causing me to become motherless.
During the final battle, I hid instead of fighting. I didn't see the point in fighting when there were these terrifying monsters fifty times my size that would come back to life anyway. Somehow, the gods managed to defeat them and banished my chances of ever going into the camp forever.
The punishment never bothered me; I wasn't allowed to be in the camp anyway. I just had to avenge my mother by killing the boy that had caused her death along with countless amounts of others. Every second that I spent on something other than the project was another second that his heart pumped and his lungs took in air that he doesn't deserve. Percy Jackson just had to go.
