It was late afternoon and I was laying in the grass with Dancer. "We haven't had any rain for a whole six months, and the water holes are drying up, I don't know how much longer we can stay here, Roger", my mother tells my dad, "we will move in a three days time, tell the herd", Dad said, my mother done as she was instructed.
I went over to my mother and snuggled in for the night.

It was early in the morning when I smelt smoke coming from close by. I got up a looked to the bush and there was a huge blazing FIRE. I must wake the others I go to my mother and bite her mane and she wakes up and says "what is the matter Brownie, did you have a bad dream", I tell her to look at the bush and she does and she seis the raging fire barking down on us and screams to the herd to wake up.

Once everyone is awake we start to move away from the fire and smoke, once we are up on top of the hill we look down at the valley and see that it is all red, orange, yellow and black. I start to cry because my home is gone and it might take us ages to find a new place. We turn around and start walking.
