The Plan
For those of you who are interested, we did get Audrey and Chad back to their rooms. Afterwards, Jason and I decided to veto dinner and go to sleep.
The next morning, I woke up and stole some clothes from Lonnie. It was a white tank top, jean capri's, and white sandals. There was also a purse next to it, but I decided not to take that with me. (picture up top.)
Lonnie woke up about a minute after I got dressed.
"Morning." I said.
"Morning. You need help with your hair?" Lonnie asked.
"If you don't mind." I said as Lonnie walked over and plugged in the hair curler. She got the ends of my hair with my brush, helping me finish.
"Are you wearing my clothes?" Lonnie asked.
"This was the first thing I found. Don't be mad." I said.
"No, it actually looks good on you. You can keep them." Lonnie said. "Have you ever curled your hair?"
"No. I've never had a hair curler before, so I've never done it."
"It looks good on you. Maybe when you get back to your world, you should get one."
"Yeah. Do you really think it looks good?"
"Yeah. It makes you look older and prettier. It may surprise the kids at your school, surprise them enough to not bully you."
"If only." I said, making up a song in my mind. A million thoughts, in my head, should I let my heart keep listening? Cause up till now, I've walked the line, nothing lost, but something missing. I can't, decide, what's wrong, what's right, which way, should I go?
"You have a pretty voice. Ever thought about joining choir? Or doing the school talent show?" Lonnie said, me not realizing that I was singing out loud.
"No, not really. The last time I sang, my dad said that if I did it again, he would ground me."
"Why?"
"Because according to Mal, I have my mother's voice."
"Since when does Mal belong in your world?"
Oops. "Can you keep a secret?"
"Yeah, why?"
"You know yesterday, when I stumbled?"
"Yeah. What happened? I knew you were lying."
"I figured out that Mal is my grandmother. I even know who my grandfather is. I have to get them together, or else I'll cease to exist."
"Who's your grandfather?"
"Ben."
"Oh, I can keep this a secret. But can we talk about it? With Jason, obviously."
"You're the only person I've told."
"I am?" Lonnie said, surprised.
"Yeah. Don't make me regret this."
"You won't." Lonnie said, then paused for a minute before saying, "Done. You look amazing!"
I looked in the mirror. She was right, I did look amazing.
"Thanks Lonnie. I'm going to walk around before breakfast."
"Okay. Think about the talent show."
"I will." Not.
I walked outside and quite literally ran into Jason.
"Oh my God!" Jason asked, helping me up. "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine Jason. Thanks for asking." We walked in silence before Jason said "You look really hot."
"Um, thanks, I guess. You look nice to."
"So I'm guessing you're going to breakfast?"
"Yeah. That's what normal people do."
I walked into the cafeteria and felt someone try to trip me. It was Audrey.
"Hey little witch." Audrey said.
"What do you have against me?" I asked.
She thought for a moment. "You are so arrogant, so I'm putting you in your place on the totem pole."
"Leave her alone Audrey." Jason said, coming in front of me.
"Aw, how cute! The Geek, and the Loser." Audrey said, walking away laughing.
"You okay?" Jason asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Why did you stick up for me?"
"We stick together. No matter what."
"Okay." I said as I grabbed a fruit smoothie, strawberry banana, my favorite, and sat down next to Mal. Jason sat across from me.
Mal looked at my smoothie. "You aren't eating much."
"Not hungry."
I silently drank my smoothie, enjoying the strawberry banananess of the drink. Ben sat next to Jason as Audrey tried to sit. Mal and Jason put a foot where the next available seat was.
"Sorry!" Mal said, faking a smile. "No more room!"
Audrey stomped away, not even looking at Ben, or me.
"So Mal, will you go to the coronation with me?" Ben asked while Audrey was still in earshot. Audrey stopped, then stomped away.
"I would love to!" Mal said loudly, just so Audrey could hear.
I started laughing so hard that Evie and Doug both looked at me weird.
"You okay Cassie?" Jason asked.
"I'm fine." I said. This is how Grandpa first asked Grandma out. How cute!
"So," Evie asked. "Any news?"
"I'm thinking about doing the talent show." I said.
"Really?" Mal asked. "What are you going to do?"
"Sing. I wrote part of a song this morning when Lonnie was curling my hair." I said.
"What would be the title?" Jane asked, walking up with Carlos, Lonnie, and Jay.
"If Only. That's what I thought of." I said.
"I think she would do good." Lonnie said. "She has the voice of an angle."
"I wouldn't say angle." I said.
"Sing. They can be the judges." Lonnie said, motioning to everyone at the table.
"Not right now!"
"Please!" Jason said, giving me puppy dog eyes.
"Ugh! Fine!" I said as I closed my eyes.
"A million thoughts, in my head, should I let my heart keep listening? Cause up till now, I've walked the line, nothing lost, but something missing. I can't, decide, what's wrong, what's right, which way, should I go?"
"May I be the first to say, that was awesome! You have an amazing voice!" Jason said.
"Yeah. If I have to, I will personally sign you up." Ben added.
"I'll sign up, but I need to finish the song." I said.
"Good thing this is Saturday." Mal said.
"Remember that we have our first game tonight at 6." Ben said, walking away.
"I won't." Ben, Doug, Lonnie, Jane, and Jason walked away, leaving me with Mal, Evie, Jay, and Carlos.
"The talent show is after Ben's coronation, which is when we'll steal the wand." Jay said as Mal and I looked uneasy.
"You two okay?" Carlos asked.
"Yeah." Mal said. "I'll be able to steal the wand from where I'm going to be standing."
"Okay." I said. This isn't how this is supposed to go. If the stories are lies, then Ben becomes King, and Ben's persuasion turns not only Mal, but also Evie, Jay, and Carlos.
"Do you guys think this will all have a happy end?" I asked.
"We're villains. We don't get happy endings." Jay said.
"You guys can change though." I said.
"I don't know. You haven't met our parents. They are not people you want to make angry." Evie pointed out.
"Oh yeah. Sorry." I said, grabbing my smoothie and walked away, going to the one place I could think, the music room.
I walked to the piano and started playing. I made the whole background and played it back on my phone, using it to create ideas. I managed to finish the song. By the time I finished, I looked at the time. 5:30.
I ran to my dorm, running to make sure I got to the game in time. I quickly changed into my uniform and grabbed my helmet. I ran back down stairs, running into Ben.
"Hey." Ben said. "How's the song coming?"
"Great! I just finished it. Let's go beat those Falcons." I said, running to the field. Ben followed me.
"Okay Knights!" Coach Jenkins said. "Starting is Ben, Cassidy, Amir, Akio, and Jared. Carlos, Jay, you guys will be sitting out. Fight hard."
We all got in a circle and yelled "AURADON KNIGHTS!"
We all ran onto the field. I was the one they would pas the ball to because nobody would hurt a girl. I got us 2 points and the Falcons had 2. In other words, we were tied.
About halfway through the game, Coach Jenkins put Carlos and Jay in for Aziz and Akio.
We would up winning, 2-3, Jay making the last shot. With my help of course.
"Good job." Mal said.
"Thanks." I said.
"Everyone, I have something to say!" Said a voice behind us. I turned and saw Jason.
"Give me a C!" The crowd followed whatever he said. "Give me an A! Give me a S! Give me another S! Give me an I! Give me a D! Give me a Y! What's that spell?"
"CASSIDY!" The crowd roars in reply.
"I love you Cassidy. Did I mention that?"
I smiled as Jason started singing a song. (think of Did I Mention from Descendants.)
Finally at the end of the song, Jason walked down to me. "Will you go on a date with me?"
"Are you kidding! Yes!" I said, which made him smile.
"Tomorrow. 11:00?"
"Sure. Bye." I said as Jason walked away.
I silently thought to myself: If you grow to love him, you have to go back. Who knows, this may be a dream, a sickly sweet dream that you never want to wake up from. Just remember that you need to go back. This may be a dream that you don't want to wake up from, but you have to. You can't stay in Neverland forever, no matter how much you want to.
