“Yoshi!” Birdo grinned once Yoshi picked up the phone. “Wanna go with me to-“

“Picnic,” Yoshi finished Birdo’s sentence.

“Huh?” Birdo was confused. She wasn’t going to invite Yoshi to a picnic.

“You promised we could go on a picnic at Donut Plains 3,” Yoshi stated.

“I did?”

“You forgot?”

“I don’t know anymore… What time do I go there?”

“Now! I’ve been waiting for a long time...”

“Ok fine, I’ll be there asap.”

“Bye.” And that was pretty much how Yoshi and Birdo’s conversation went.

One hour later, Birdo got to Donut Plains 3 and met Yoshi there, who was very impatient by then.

“Finally,” Yoshi said.

“I’m sorry, but you didn’t remind me earlier,” Birdo pouted.

“I expected you to remember!” Yoshi protested.

“Whatever, where’s the food?” Birdo questioned.

Yoshi pointed to a picnic blanket situated in the shade of a giant tree by the river. There were sandwiches, burgers, fries, chips, sausages, baby-back ribs, and pitchers of lemonade in a basket.

“And Dum-Dums!” Yoshi exclaimed, showing Birdo a handful of Dum-Dums in various flavors. He knew that both he and Birdo loved the addicting lollies.

“Ahh, this is so awesome!” Birdo squealed, quickly sitting down on the picnic blanket. More desserts were accompanying the Dum-Dums too, like chocolate-mousse-ice-cream-cake and chocolate chip cookies.

“Let’s dig in!” Yoshi said excitedly, joining Birdo on the picnic blanket. As the couple ate, they chatted.

“Did you make all of these yourself?” Birdo asked.

“Yup!” Yoshi replied. “But, I obviously bought the Dum-Dums somewhere.”

“Wow,” Birdo was impressed, yet unsurprised. This was Yoshi, the biggest foodie one could ever meet.

“Well, I made everything early in the morning today,” Yoshi informed. “I thought you’d show up on time.”

“Sorryyyy!” Birdo sighed. “My mind was on other things.”

“Like?” Yoshi got some fries with his tongue.

“I was gonna invite you to go to Cheep Cheep Beach or something.”

“Well, you clearly forgot about this picnic…”

“Hey, at least I’m here now! And the food is awesome.”

“You’re welcome.”

“Thanks.”

“Anyways, what’s new?”

It was truly a great way to spend the morning. Yoshi and Birdo bonded quite a bit and before they knew it, only the Dum-Dums weren’t touched yet. They got a few lollies each.

“So, is the beach thing pushing through?” Birdo asked.

“Wanna go there later today? We can part ways to get our stuff and meet each other at Cheep Cheep Beach,” Yoshi suggested.

“Sure! Let’s meet there at 2,” Birdo replied.

“Ok. See you later!” The couple then parted ways.

*a few hours later*

“You got a new one?” Yoshi asked, eyeing the white Instax on Birdo’s lap.

“Yeah, I bought it yesterday. It’s not pink, but I love it nonetheless. I also got Stained Glass film!” Birdo smiled.

“Umm, we came here to actually hang out and I never knew your, erm, camera was gonna be involved,” Yoshi said.

“Don’t worry, I learned my lesson about bringing this around too much,” Birdo assured. “I just wanna take a selfie with you.”

“Fine,” Yoshi sighed. “But, only one.” A selfie was then taken, putting Birdo in an even better mood.

“I’m totes Shellstagramming this!” Birdo said to no one in particular.

“Let’s go swimming,” Yoshi suggested. “I brought water guns.”

He and Birdo splashed around and had fun in the ocean for hours. But time flew by so fast that it only seemed like half an hour for them. As they were drying up, Birdo turned to Yoshi.

“How does steak sound for dinner?” she asked.

Just a simple short chapter about Yoshi and Birdo. I would love to spend a day with friends like this! Btw do you know what Dum-Dums are? Lol I'm so addicted to them!
