14. Prank War
Mario, Peach, Daisy, Yoshi, Toad, and Toadette had arrived at the MK8 Facilities. Peach’s private plane had dropped them off at Sunshine Airport. They had to be at Sunshine Airport anyway because Peach, being the princess, had to greet the racers and such. After the ceremony, the friends drove to the Toad Harbor Resort.
“We’ll have three rooms, two people in each room,” Mario informed the rest of the group.
“I brought LOTS of snacks,” Peach said, gesturing to the giant bag of snacks. Yoshi’s eyes instantly lit up.
“I WANNA STAY WITH PEACH!” Yoshi exclaimed.
“Plus, Toadsworth packed lunches for all of us,” Peach added. “We should have a picnic tomorrow! Besides, I heard Shy Guy Falls is a great tourist spot!”
“Mario and I can take a room,” Toadette said.
“So, that leaves Daisy and I,” Toad replied. The group checked in at the resort, took their room keys, and split up.
*late at night*
“We have to wake up at 7:30 tomorrow, so we can leave for Shy Guy Falls on time,” Toad informed. “I suggest you set an alarm for about 6 or 6:30.”
“I will,” Daisy replied. Unlike you... she thought.
Luckily, Toad was the type of person that went to sleep very quickly. He was a deep sleeper and he was prone to sleeping in, which is why he needed a loud alarm.
When Daisy was sure that Toad was asleep, she hacked into his phone and turned off the alarm. She turned on her own alarm but attached her earphones, so that only she would wake up on time.
Daisy went to sleep with a smile on her face.
*the next morning*
“Alright, is everyone ready?” Peach smiled. She wore a sundress and floppy hat with a picnic basket and camera in hand. She mentally counted how many people were present.
“Toad isn’t here,” Toadette said.
“Daisy, what happened to Toad?” Peach questioned.
“Oh, he… Umm… he went to Shy Guy Falls ahead of us just to… Umm, you know… Check for safety measures,” Daisy stuttered. “That’s what he told me.”
“But, Shy Guy Falls is a protected and preserved park! There are no safety precautions there,” Peach pointed out.
“Well, umm, well…” Daisy thought of a response. “You never know.”
*a few hours later*
“Oh, I had such a wonderful sleep!” Toad exclaimed. “Wait, where’s Daisy?” He turned on his phone.
“10 AM?!?!?!”Toad yelled. He had a gut feeling that Daisy turned off his alarm. “DAISYYYY!!!” Toad screamed, even though Daisy wasn’t in the room. Suddenly, he had an idea.
“Oh, it is on,” Toad grinned. “MWAHAHAHA.”
*meanwhile*
“Oh well,” Daisy could barely hold in her laughter. “I guess Toad’s missing out on his lunch. Anyone want an extra sandwich?”
“Ooh! Me!” Yoshi quickly grabbed the grilled cheese.
“Alright, everyone! Picture time!” Peach announced.
“Don’t worry, we could easily Photoshop Toad into the pic,” Mario said.
*when the group returned to the resort*
“Hey, Daisy!” Toad grinned, pretending he didn’t know that Daisy pranked him. “Sorry I couldn’t wake up in time. “
“Oh, umm it’s ok,” Daisy was surprised that Toad wasn’t mad. “Well, I’m gonna take a shower because it was really hot at Shy Guy Falls and I was sweating.” Daisy plugged her phone to her charger and then went to the bathroom. She had forgotten that Toad knew her password.
As soon as Daisy was in the bathroom, Toad unlocked Daisy’s phone. Toad changed the shortcuts on Daisy’s phone, knowing she was usually a careless texter. When Daisy got out from the bathroom, she got her phone and started texting Yoshi. She typed “Hey, what’s up?” and sent the message.
Daisy: Your nose is tacky and I hate you.
“Huh?” Daisy stared at the text. “I didn’t type that! How will Yoshi react???” She knew they were close friends and Yoshi didn’t take insults very well. Toad was trying to contain his laughter.
Suddenly, she heard an explosion outside her window. She quickly turned on the TV to see what it was all about.
Breaking news: a Yoshi is rampaging the streets of Toad Harbor for unknown reasons! the Toad on the screen panicked. Who knows what he’ll destroy next- AAAHHHH!!!
MY NOSE IS NOT TACKY!!! Yoshi yelled, picking up a car with his tongue and throwing it at a building.
Not to worry! A Goomba reporter popped up on the screen. I, Gordon Goombelluis Goomba, daredevil, explorer, and reporter, shall hunt down this beast! The camera turned around.
The camera began following Yoshi around town as he destroyed everything in sight. They eventually followed him out of Toad Harbor. Suddenly, Yoshi stopped in front of Water Park.
WATER PARKEY WHEE! Yoshi jumped with joy and ran inside. Soon, the camera was just watching Yoshi splash around and giggle.
Well, then, Gordon said. Looks like our case is closed. Until the next city disaster! The show ended.
Daisy looked out the window. Toad workers were cleaning up the mess extra fast.
“Well, well,” Toad tsked. “It’s all your fault.”
“No, it isn’t!” Daisy fumed. “Someone changed my shortcuts!” Then, Daisy realized that there was only one person in the room when she took a shower. “It was you, wasn’t it?” Daisy snapped.
“Fine, fine, I changed your shortcuts,” Toad admitted. “But, only because you turned off my alarm!”
“You know what this calls for?” Daisy grinned.
“What?”
“A PRANK WAR.”
*the next day*
The group went to Cloudtop Cruise for dinner. They ate carbonara pasta. “Hey, do we have bacon bits?” Toad questioned. Daisy grinned. She knew he would ask that at one point.
“Here,” Daisy handed Toad a shaker filled with chili flakes.
“Thanks,” Toad put A LOT of “bacon bits” in his plate of pasta. He eagerly put a forkful of pasta in his mouth.
Toad immediately stood up. “Water! Water!!!” he gasped, grabbing a big water pitcher and gulping down water from it. Toad made a mess in the process of doing that.
“Toad, what’s wrong?” Mario asked.
“It’s… So… Spicy…” Toad said, out of breath. Peach took a close look at Toad’s pasta.
“I think those are chili flakes, not bacon bits,” Peach told Toad.
“DAISY!!! I WILL GET YOU BACK FOR THAT!” Toad yelled. Daisy was too busy laughing to hear him.
*later, in Daisy and Toad’s room*
Toad turned on the TV and went to the Broadway channel. He knew that Daisy hated the musical that was showing on the TV. Toad hid the real remote and took out a fake remote that looked exactly like the real one. Right after he did that, Daisy came and sat on the couch.
“Oh no, not this again,” Daisy groaned. “I hate this musical.”
“Change the channel,” Toad suggested. Daisy picked up the remote and tried to change the channel.
“It’s not working!” Daisy complained. She repeatedly pressed the button that changes the channel.
“Hmm, let me try,” Toad took the fake remote from Daisy and while she wasn’t looking, he took out the real remote. He switched the channel with ease. Toad switched it back to the Broadway channel. “Here, you try,” Toad quickly hid the real remote and gave the fake remote to Daisy. She tried switching the channel.
“It still doesn’t work!” Daisy whined. Toad stared at her with a straight face.
“GOTCHA!” he yelled after a moment, pulling out the real remote. Toad ran out of the room, taking the real remote with him before Daisy could give him a black eye or a broken arm.
*two nights later*
“Well, I’m going to sleep now,” Toad jumped onto his bed.
“Ok, night,” Daisy said. Toad quickly went to sleep.
Daisy laughed. Late at night was when it was easiest to prank Toad. What should I do? Daisy thought.
She noticed that Toad’s phone was charging. Daisy checked its battery. Toad’s phone’s battery percentage was only 2%, since Toad had only plugged it in right before he went to sleep. Daisy giggled quietly as she unplugged Toad’s phone and put it next to Toad in his bed. After that was done, she continued to stay up and play Piano Tiles on her own phone.
*the following morning*
“Huh? Why isn’t my phone charged?” Toad eyed Daisy.
“Maybe you forgot to plug it in,” Daisy shrugged.
“I know you unplugged it.”
“So what if I did?”
“You’re so freaking annoying!”
“You’re just a sore loser.”
*the day the group was leaving the MK8 Facilities*
While Daisy was in the shower, Toad entered the bathroom. He placed a paper tarantula right outside the bathtub. Toad was aware that Daisy had arachnophobia.
“Toad? Why are you in here?” Daisy asked from inside the bathtub.
“I just had to get something, I’m leaving now,” Toad exited the bathroom.
A few minutes later, Toad heard Daisy scream.
“TOAD!” she wailed. “Get this thing out of the bathroom and out of our room!”
“Chill, it’s just made of paper!” Toad called back.
“I’m not taking any chances! Please Toad, just get it away from meeeee!” Daisy said.
*later that day*
“You two are impossible,” Peach sighed. “This vacation was a privilege and you wrecked havoc everywhere we went! This calls for a punishment.”
“What?” Daisy and Toad gulped.
“Daisy, you’re not allowed to wear orange or yellow for the next month. When we get back, I’ll take away all of your clothes and accessories that have too much orange or yellow,” Peach said.
“Please don’t!” Daisy pleaded, but Peach ignored her.
“And Toad, you won’t get a salary for the next month,” Peach stated.
“No!!!” Toad’s jaw dropped.
“Your punishments are final,” Peach simply replied. Daisy and Toad glared at each other.
“This is all your fault,” they said at the same time.
This chapter is longer than most of the other chapters in this book. It's 1626 words. We made this chapter a little longer than usual to make up for the day I promised to update but didn't. Well I hope you found this funny! Have you done any good pranks or have any good pranks been done to you? Tell us in the comments! We appreciate active readers. Also MK8 Facilites basically means the Mario Kart 8 courses. So the characters pretty much took a vacation in the Mario Kart 8 courses. Btw if you play Piano Tiles (a game app) tell us your high scores in the comments! Anyways pls add, comment, vote, etc. Thanks!
