Chapter 1 | I could care less

"Today is going to be a very long and big day!" the smell of fresh, warm food filled the room. Sunlight was already visible and illuminating her brown hair locks, yet she kept laying on her bed, staring at the canopy. All she could think or dream about was how her father had died. "Come on, My Lady! You must get ready for today! I'll fix your water for you while you eat something, does that sound good?"

"I don't want to eat and I don't see the point in getting ready if I'm not going to get out of this chambers" Lilia pointed out. She hadn't left her chambers for more than a week and, every single day since she was moved from the Hand's Tower to another random chamber in the Red Keep, all she had been doing was mourning. She would barely eat a thing, she wouldn't wash her hair, she wouldn't dress all the pretty dresses that she had been given by her father before he was executed – since they made her feel even sadder than she already was – or the ones that the King had been giving her – since she didn't want anything from that murderer. She would do nothing but stay in bed or sit on a chair looking outside. At first, she would keep her chambers dark with curtains or anything that she could find to keep the light from shining inside. But then, they took away her curtains and she was forbidden to do that, so she just mourned in her own way.

"But you must eat!" her handmaiden insisted as she rolled her eyes. She knew that Senna was loyal to Cersei and she knew that as soon as she left her presence, the handmaiden would go straight to Cersei to tell her everything that Lilia had said, what she looked like, what she ate, what she drank... She knew that Senna would give Cersei the maximum detail she could about Lilia's current state, which made her despise the handmaiden even more. She even made her miss Septa Mordane, who spent her days criticizing the young girl. "Besides, today you are to leave these chambers, My Lady. A tournament is going to take place in order to celebrate His Majesty's name day. Your sister is going to be there, sitting next to the King and his siblings, and you, of course"

"The tournament has nothing to do with me. As you said, it's meant to celebrate His Grace's name day. My sister is his betrothed, it has something to do with her. I have nothing to do with His Grace, so I won't be present at the stupid tournament" she stated annoyed by the handmaiden's persistence. She got inside the damn bath, and the handmaiden washed her hair as they talked. One with a rope around her neck, the other with... her throat in a knot.

"Well, you might be right, but even if you are, the King has required your presence, so you must get ready and attend the tournament with a smile on your face" she hated to hear that, but as much as it costed her, that was the only way for her to stay alive for the time being. At the moment, there was no other way, she failed to escape, so now there was nothing she could do but play the game and wait for another opportunity to flee and meet with Robb. "You should be flattered, His Grace has taken a liking towards you. It seems that he would marry you instead of your sister. They say he would put her aside and make you his Queen. I bet that he would appreciate it if you'd meet him before the tournament, perhaps you could pay a visit to his chambers"

"It would not be appropriate for me to be in a man's chambers alone" her voice was as cold as winter and as sharp as a wolf's teeth. She wouldn't accept advice from Senna, she couldn't trust Senna and she would never listen to anything Senna said because she knew that those were not her true words, she knew those were Cersei's and she suspected that it was all part of some plan to take away her honour and screw her over. What the point was? She didn't know because it made no sense whatsoever. She was the daughter of a declared traitor and she was part of a rebel house. Her honour was all but gone, why ruin her life even more? It had been ruined the day her father was arrested on false charges of treason, what was the point on damaging it even more? "I'm not some common whore, I'm a Lady and I have morals, unlike many people in this city. And I do not listen to gossip, nor do I care about what 'they' say"

"I know. I apologize, My Lady" she said as she helped her get dressed. As she picked a blue dress, Lilia stopped her. It was bad enough forcing her to attend her father's murderer's name day, she had to also dress something he would like her too. No, she wouldn't do that. She got outside a black dress and laid it on her bed, earning a shocked look from her handmaiden. "With all respect, but King Joffrey has made it quite clear that he likes your looks no matter what you wear, but to wear black on his name day is a bit excessive, don't you think, My Lady?"

"Well, he should have thought about that before chopping my father's head off. Had he not done that and perhaps I would be a little happier and looking much more graceful. At least, I wouldn't be mourning his death" she said, catching Senna even more out of surprise. The handmaiden was amazed by the girl's boldness and sarcasm, she was absolutely nothing like her sister. Actually, she was quite the opposite, always doing as she wished and saying what she pleased.

"My Lady, you're talking about the King!" she warned, earning a disinterested look from Lilia, who was bored with the conversation. She was eager to provoke Joffrey, after all she had to been forced to endure due to his cruelty, that was nothing compared to what he deserved. She wished she could chop his head off as well, yet that was impossible for her to do. But one day, when Robb freed her and Sansa and delivered them the pretender's head, she would finally find her peace and she will know that her father's death has been avenged.

"I could care less" she commented. "Now, leave and tell Cersei already! I could care less!"

Senna left her alone in her chambers, waiting for the time where she would have to see Joffrey all over again. She still had to think about a way to look at him in the eyes after everything he did to her. She still had to think of a way to be able to bear it all. There was a knock on the door, as she kept herself in silence, someone opened the door and got inside, closing the same door during the process. She didn't know who it was, all she did know was that she didn't care who it was, she didn't want to speak to anyone. She just wanted to be left alone.

"That's quite an interesting choice for someone who is to take a seat next to the King" she recognized that voice, so when her eyes meet the owner of the voice, she gave him an acknowledging smile. It wasn't a bright smile like those she used to have before King Robert had the brilliant idea of riding all the way to Winterfell, but it was better than what she had managed to give anyone else. Not that she was seeing a lot of familiar faces anyway since her sister hadn't seen her and the rest of the people seemed to be avoiding her existence... which she wasn't upset about since all she wanted was peace and quiet. "I'm really sorry about your father. He was a good, honourable man"

"Well, look where that got him. It didn't seem to help when the executioner came for his head" Lilia pointed out with sadness in her voice. "I'm sorry, you've helped my family and you've been a true friend to us. You don't deserve my harsh words. If anything, you deserve the kind ones. I'm grateful for what you've done for us, Lord Baelish"

"Petyr. Call me Petyr" he corrected her. "Your father may be dead but I'm still a friend that you can rely on"

"Thank you, Lord... Petyr. You've been nothing but kind to me, I'm sorry about my rudeness" she apologized as he smiled lightly. Lilia was curious about that smile. "What?"

"It's just that you remind me of your mother when she was your age" she was surprised by his words. "I've loved your mother very much, ever since I was a little boy. We've grown up together but she only saw me as a brother. Much like you and the Greyjoy boy"

"Theon and I grew up together, he's a good friend" she avoided the subject as Littlefinger, who understood her lack of comfort, smiled a bit. "But I understand what you're trying to say, I've always considered him a brother, I suppose"

"Well, that's not the point anyway. The point is that you are much more similar to your mother than you know. The strength in you both..." he comments, making Lilia think. People always told her that she was just like her aunt, Lyanna. Not many people would compare her with her mother, that was something they would do with Sansa. Arya and she were always the ones compared with Lyanna and no one else. "Sure, you have the mighty wildness and the looks of your aunt, Lyanna Stark, but you have so much of your mother in you..."

"Thank you, Lord Baelish" she nodded out of gratitude. He got closer to her and kissed her forehead. "I'm glad to hear that. I miss my mother every single day"

"Perhaps I can lead you to her" the offer was tempting, she had to admit. Nevertheless, she wasn't sure if she should trust in Littlefinger that easily. She had heard people say that no one trusted him and they might have their reasons, so she easily made up a good answer,

"Perhaps one day we'll meet again" he smiled and left her alone with a clear idea of what to do next. His words had cleared everything in her mind, it was obvious what she should do. So, when Lancel Lannister knocks on her door in order to guide her to Joffrey, she whispers something to herself.

"I must be as strong as my Lady Mother"
