15. Electric Love (Lokius)
Word Count: 1,209
"So...these just pop from tiny seeds?" Loki asked, leaning over the pot that Mobius was stirring popcorn kernels in. The god didn't have a microwave, but luckily Mobius had a bag of popcorn kernels he could easily cook over the stove. He grabbed it at the last second when he went to his house to get his laptop.
"More or less, yeah," Mobius replied, lowering the heat slightly.
Loki leapt back as the first kernel popped. Mobius tried to stifle a laugh but failed, earning a glare from the Jotun. The pair hadn't really acknowledged their midnight conversation aside from continuing with their "date". Loki was back in his human form by the time Mobius woke up that morning. The lawyer secretly hoped he'd turn back; he looked beautiful in that form.
Loki stared at the popcorn over the man's shoulder, longing to wrap his arms around Mobius' waist. It just seemed so natural.
The god took a deep breath and folded his arms to do something with them. Mobius was probably joking about dating him. The lawyer had been tired; he probably didn't even realize what he had said. Even if he was serious, Loki didn't want to rush things.
He focused back on the stove as a series of pops erupted from the pot. White popcorn appeared. Mobius smiled at Loki's wide eyes, then asked, "Could you get us some bowls?"
Loki turned and grabbed a pair of bowls out of a cabinet, bringing them over to the mortal. Mobius filled the bowls and brought them to the living room, setting them on the coffee table while he logged into his laptop.
"I don't bite," Mobius stated as he pulled Megamind up, noticing that Loki was practically sitting on the armrest on the other end of the couch.
The god shifted a little bit closer, drawing one of the fur skins over himself. Mobius hit play and set the laptop on the coffee table. He passed one of the popcorn bowls to Loki, then grabbed his own.
"I made kettle corn, which is sweet," the lawyer stated while getting comfortable on the couch.
Loki placed a kernel on his tongue before chewing it. "It tastes good."
Mobius smiled. "Thanks. You can eat handfuls at a time if you want unless you really want it to last the whole movie."
Loki chuckled, then directed his eyes to the screen. He found himself subconsciously shifting closer to Mobius.

The god didn't even make it ten minutes before crying. Mobius scrambled to hit pause, then grabbed Loki's hand out of reflex.
"Hey, hey, what's wrong?" he murmured.
"That's how I felt," Loki choked out, referring to the scene from Megamind's childhood of how he was an outcast at school and how everyone loved Metroman. "Father always favored Thor. 'Thor, you need to be studying.' 'Thor, you need to be training.' 'Thor, come sit in on this meeting.' Of course, none of that was my brother's fault, but I still felt a bit of resentment! My mother was the only one who truly tried to raise and teach me as a child, and she wasn't even my real mother!" The god's skin began to tinge blue, and his horns started sprouting. Mobius could feel patterns appearing beneath his hands, which we're still holding Loki's.
"I'm sorry you experienced that, Loki," the lawyer consoled, stroking his back. "Your father sucks. There's really no better way to put it. But at least now, you get to start over and choose your own path."
Loki looked at him, his eyes literally red. He had completely transformed into a frost giant. "Oh, uh, sorry," he said, noticing Mobius was staring. "Sometimes I lose control of my magic when I get emotional. I'll switch ba--"
"No!" Mobius interjected, startling the god. "I mean--" he blushed "--could you stay like that, if you're comfortable? I just think you look so cool like that."
Loki smirked, then fake-sighed. "Well….I suppose. But you're supposed to be watching the movie, not me," he teased.
"I've already seen it," Mobius replied, poking his side. "Do you want to continue it?"
Loki nodded, and they resumed the movie.

"Wait, pause it!" Loki exclaimed, startling Mobius, who had been absentmindedly tracing the Jotun's patterns on his arms. Little did he know, it was giving the god shivers.
The lawyer sat up and hit the spacebar. He was surprised when Loki grabbed the laptop.
"Hold still," he commanded. He held the laptop at arms length, looking between it and Mobius' perplexed face.
Loki grinned. "You look just like the warden!"
Mobius raised an eyebrow, causing the god to laugh even more. He rolled his eyes. "Let's get back to the movie."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Loki leapt from the couch and pointed at the screen after Megamind shot Bernard with his special gun. "HE HAS THE TESSERACT!" He gestured to the small, blue cube.
Mobius' eyebrows furrowed in confusion, and he reached over to pause the movie again. "Um...it's actually a dehydration cube thingy. That's where Bernard went."
"Same principle!" Loki exclaimed. "I have no doubt Megamind would be able to wield the Tesseract. He's basically me. He can shape shift, has a warden that's constantly worrying about him…"
"I don't think--"
"Shh! And now it looks like he's been smitten by someone, too! And he's evil! So basically me!"
Mobius tilted his head. "Who have you been smitten by?"
Loki's eyes widened. "Uh...um…no one," he replied, avoiding eye contact.
A grin crept across the lawyer's face. He scooted closer. "Your skin turns purple when you blush." He ran his hand along Loki's cheekbone, to which the god swatted away.
"N-No, it doesn't. I'm...I'm sunburned!"
"Mhmm." He crawled even closer, causing Loki to scoot back against the arm of the couch. His red eyes widened at the man before him. "That's a shame that you're not smitten by anyone." His voice dropped to a whisper. "Because I am."
Loki gulped. "I hate to break it to you, but Brunhilde is taken." The god's stomach squirmed. Did Mobius really like him? An icy blue giant with a rocky past? Was he going to find out Loki's true feelings just laugh at him and tell other people?
"Brunhilde was never an option," Mobius replied. He placed his hands on Loki's shoulders, his gaze burning into him. "You, on the other hand…" he trailed off, raising a hand to brush the god's lips. He began to lean forward and then stopped, waiting for the Jotun to meet him.
Loki lurched forward, and their lips crashed together. The god's hands were in the lawyer's hair, and Mobius' hands were on the Jotun's face, which was cool to the touch. He didn't mind.
They pulled apart after a few seconds, panting. "You don't know how long I've wanted to do that," Mobius murmured, their foreheads touching.
Loki grinned. "I didn't think you were that...assertive."
Mobius blushed, climbing off of him. "M-Maybe we should resume the movie." He avoided his gaze.
The god only laughed. "Don't worry. Assertiveness looks good on you." He slung his arm around his shoulder and cuddled against Mobius as he hit play, his brain still buzzing at the events that had taken place.
I know this one is a little shorter, and I know that I said I'd only do two Lokius chapters, but I'm going to write one more because I didn't want this to go from fluffy to depressing, because the next chapter will be sad (it ends well, though, don't worry!). If I have time this week, I may publish the next chapter a bit sooner.
