Prologue
Prologue
James was pacing backwards and forwards outside of his room at Khan palace, wincing each time Lily screamed in pain and cursed him as she laboured to bring their child into the world, much to the amusement of Sirius, Remus and Regulus - who had made up with his brother during Sirius' fifth year, his fourth year at Hogwarts and had become close friends with Remus and James - were waiting outside the bedchamber with James, while James's father Fleamont, Lily's father Arthur, and James's uncles Charlus, Aziz and Jamal, along with James's cousins were waiting in the family room for news not wanting to crowd Lily. James's mother Farrah, Lily's mother Caitrin and James's aunts Dorea, Amal and Mayra were helping Lily inside the room.
Finally, after several hours a baby's cry wrenched the air causing a ragged breath of relief to pass James' lips before he darted into the room. However, instead of a happy James to leave his room, arms full of his precious bundle an angry cry wrenched the air.
"REGULUS ARCTURUS BLACK!!" James screamed charging out of the room like a man possessed ignoring the calls of his wife, aunts and mother.
"What? What did I do?" Regulus asked his best friend, startled, looking to his other best friend and brother for help.
"Show me your wrist! Now!" James demanded, confusing Regulus and Sirius further, however, it was starting to dawn on Remus what was going on.
Confused, Regulus rolled up his left wrist showing the birthmark of a little fox, his soulmate mark, which was now darker - having turned from a faint pink to black - meaning that his soulmate had just been born, which also meant he would now start ageing normally once he meets her as he had been frozen at the age of seventeen.
"Oh no." Sirius whispered, but a grin stretched his lips as he watched James threaten his younger brother to within an inch of his life. Rolling his eyes as he realised his soulmate and boyfriend wasn't going to save his brother, Remus knew it was up to him as per usual.
"Prongs!" Remus called loudly over James' threats and Regulus' platitudes. "I think Regulus has got it now so how about you bring out my Goddaughter so I can hold her."
"Your Goddaughter? I think you mean my Goddaughter, Moony love." Sirius argued.
"You can all come in!" Lily called tiredly, from within the room. This seemed to stop James from carrying on with his threats as he turned tail and ran as fast as he had exited into the room causing his friends to laugh and roll their eyes fondly at him. Entering the room they couldn't help but smile as they watched the doting father smiling and cooing to the baby wrapped in purple blankets, and a tired Lily smiling happily at her husband and child before turning to her friends with a welcoming smile.
"I won't threaten you Regulus as I know James pretty much covered everything but when she's older, you hurt my precious Princess and I'll end you!" Lily promised sweetly, which Regulus admitted to himself was far scarier than James's threats.
"Understood." Regulus nodded. "What is her soulmate mark of?" He asked curiously.
"It's in the shape of the star you're named after on her inner right wrist." Farrah informed him, from the corner of the room where she stood tidying everything up with Lily's mother and two of her sister-in-laws, while Amal spoke to her house-elf, Tily, asking her to inform the rest of the family.
"What's my Goddaughter's name then? And can you please tell Moony I am the first Godfather?" Sirius begged, much to the amusement of the others.
"I'd like to introduce you to my Princess: Khalida Eilonwy Jamie Potter." James informed them beaming happily and not once looking away from his precious daughter as the other three crowded around him. "Khalida means eternal life and is linked to our Peverell death Magic. Eilonwy means river melody or gorgeous Princess which fits. We wanted to show off and make her proud of her heritage." James smirked.
"Both you and Remus are Godfathers, Sirius." Lily informed them, rolling her eyes fondly at her husband. "Stop torturing them James." She reprimanded, her Welsh accent thick. But it seemed like he didn't hear her as he was besotted with his daughter which brought a tired but loving smile to Lily's lips.

As Khalida grew it became increasingly obvious to her family that something was up with her despite being a happy child for her young age. For not only did she become obsessive over certain things, for example: she didn't respond to her name and avoided eye contact, she didn't talk as much as her cousins from James's side of the family, repeated the same phrases ('Pa'foo' and 'Dada'), and she got very upset if she did not like a certain taste, smell or sounds. Lily's father Arthur had brought up that she may have Autism as his brother has it, and assured the rest of the family that there was nothing wrong and explained things they could do to make things easier on Khalida.
That wasn't the only thing, however, they noticed she would lose mobility and movement within her joints and limbs, such as back, legs and arms; and it often caused her to lash out due to the helplessness, and they also noticed she forgot things sometimes. Being a nurse in a Muggle Hospital in Wales, Caitrin, spoke to several of her colleagues and researched on ways she could make life easier for her precious granddaughter (the only grandchild she got to see as Petunia never let her see Dudley all because she and Arthur were in contact with Lily). After a lot of research and observation, Caitrin discovered that the symptoms Khalida was showing related to something called Friedreich Ataxia, and taught Farrah and Dorea who were Healers how best to help their granddaughter or great-niece (in Dorea's case) as this was something the Wizarding community had never dealt with.
"Don't worry son, I'll get to work on creating a potion to help Kali with this Friedreich Ataxia, even if it was just a stronger pain reliever and muscle relaxer." Monty assured his son, clasping his shoulder firmly with a comforting squeeze before leaving for his potion lab in the basement of Potter Manor.
"Dada play." Khalida asked, smiling a cute gummy smile, a dimple forming on her left cheek.
"Of course baby." James agreed, smiling at his adorable daughter as he slipped down onto the floor in front of her.

August 31st 1991
After Samhain 1981 when Lily and James were killed, Dumbledore and Crouch Sr immediately blamed Sirius and were all for chucking Sirius in Azkaban without a trial, and would have succeeded if Farrah, Fleamont, Charlus, Dorea and Regulus hadn't supplied memories on the contrary and left hints with the other Wizengamot members that if they could throw a Lord of an Ancient and Noble House into Azkaban without a trial what's to stop them from doing it to anyone else. Thankfully, those hints spurred everyone into action and an emergency Wizengamot meeting was held where Sirius was tried under both Veritaserum and the watchful gaze of the entire Wizengamot and Head Auror Amelia Bones.
As soon as the trial culminated, Aurors were sent off to search for Peter Pettigrew and the Wizarding Community were put on alert for his Animagus form in which he had escaped the scene he in fact had caused and not Sirius via an emergency edition of the Daily Prophet. Relief surging through the Potter-Black family they ignored all questions thrown at them via the media and used the Floo Network to return to Potter Manor where Remus, Khalida, Caitrin and Arthur were waiting for them. The elderly Evans, along with the three Blacks (Remus was now married to Sirius and had hyphenated his name) had moved into Potter Manor wanting to be close after the tragedy that had struck them.

"Grandpa." Khalida repeated anxiously, with a sigh she'd called Fleamont's name multiple times as she twisted her hands anxiously.
"Sorry my little Jamie." Fleamont apologised, shaking his head to rid himself of the maudlin thoughts of the hell Dumbledore had put them through. A year after James and Lily had been killed Fleamont publicly claimed House Dumbledore, particularly Albus, as an enemy of House Potter (Sirius and Aziz following his lead) as the foolish Headmaster not only kept trying to interfere with his seats on the Wizengamot, he also interfered with the hunt for Pettigrew (Jamal thought someone was hiding the rat and Fleamont happened to agree with his brother-in-law), but he also didn't stop badgering them to place his little Princess with her Muggle aunt who despised magic.
"I was lost in thought. What's the matter?" He asked, kissing her forehead tenderly as he pulled her to sit on his knee much like he did when she was younger and had meltdowns as being held safely and securely seemed to calm her down.
"Will you and Uncles Charlus, Siri and Moony be mad if I'm not a Gryffindor? Will Mum and Dad? What about Auntie Dorea, will she be mad if I'm not a Slytherin? I know Grandma Farrah didn't go to Hogwarts, as you met her when you went to Egypt.
But will she be mad too?" Khalida asked anxiously, twisting her fingers together until her Grandfather covered them with his own and turned her face towards him gently with her chin.
"Of course we won't be, sweetheart, we will be proud of you no matter what House you enter and they will be lucky to have such a smart, kind and beautiful young lady. We all love you unconditionally as did your parents." Fleamont assured her, hugging her close and kissing her temple lovingly.

September 1st 1991: nighttime.
Dear Grandma Farrah, Grandma Caitrin, Grandpa Monty, Grandpa Arthur, Auntie Dorea, and Uncles Charlus, Siri, Moony, and Regulus
I was sorted into Ravenclaw! As both Grandmas, Auntie Dorea, Reggie and Uncle Moony said; so Grandpas, Uncle Charlus and Uncle Siri you need to pay up!
I miss you all so much and counting down the days until Yule. Professor Flitwick is very kind and has given me a pass to use if I get overwhelmed in lessons or the pain gets too much, (the potions are helping Grandpa Monty don't worry), I made a few friends on the train and the common room is amazing we even have our own library in there!
But Dumbledore keeps looking at me weird and he said something weird before the Sorting, 'the third corridor on the right hand side is out of bounds for those of you who don't wish to die a most painful death'.
Who does that? I didn't feel safe after he said that and nearly had a meltdown, but one of the friends I made, Neville Longbottom - he was sorted into Hufflepuff - helped calm me down.
I love you all and miss you,
Love
Khalida xxx
"What the hell!!!" Farrah, Dorea, and Caitrin exploded after Monty finished reading the letter.
"Something needs to be done about that old fool!" Regulus exclaimed worriedly, fear and concern shrouded his mind for his young soulmate whom he felt only friendship for at this time. Other feelings would not develop until she was of age.
"I'll call for an emergency Wizengamot meeting." Sirius declared, a growl within his voice as he worried about his pup.
"It wasn't like that when Lily was there!" Arthur fretted, his Welsh accent thick with his anger.
"No it wasn't. Seems he hasn't learned from us declaring him our enemy. Well, he will soon learn you don't mess with the Potters nor the Blacks. Sirius, you and I both need to speak to our allies as Lord of our Houses. Brother, Dorea, you both go let the rest of the Black family know what's happened, while Regulus, Remus, the both of you go with Farrah and start an investigation with the Board of Governors." Monty ordered, his mind turning over with ideas on how to protect his granddaughter and Heiress.
"It's high time he was removed from Hogwarts and away from our precious jewel." Caitrin added.
"Agreed. I'll speak to my brother as head of our family in Egypt as Khan, myself and Khalida are fully under his protection as Princesses and no one in their right mind would go against him. Although, the old fool has never been in his right mind." Farrah said, sneering at the thought of the aged headmaster.
"Putting that aside, I am very proud of my niece. The first Potter and Khan to go into Ravenclaw!" Dorea added, beaming ecstatic and incredibly proud of her great-niece.
She knew all about the Khan family as not only was Farrah her best friend, the Khans and the rest of her family - the Blacks - were all untied and incredibly close all because of Khalida no matter that they were close with and lived with her Squib Grandparents. She knew the rest were incredibly proud of Khalida, if the grand, beaming smiles were anything to go by.
Thank you Arcstark
