Xiaojun and I just stare at each other, we've been sitting in silence for twenty minutes. He takes a sip of his drink before sighing.

Xiaojun: Something tells me you don't want to be here.

I down the rest of my martini.

Me: I'm having the time of my life.

He rolls his eyes.

Xiaojun: Char is so deep into love she thinks everyone should have it or at least experience it.
Me: Did you ever experience it?
Xiaojun: Nope, it sounds disgusting.

I chuckle a bit.

Me: It's a beautiful thing.
Xiaojun: Don't go all soft on me now little lamb.
Me: Shut up.

He leans forward placing his hand under his chin. He's handsome, I'll give him that. Still an ass though.

Xiaojun: Tell me about this guy who has you whipped.
Me: Well, that's where it's complicated.
Xiaojun: How so my pet?

I narrow my eyes and he raises his hands in surrender.

Me: It's not just one guy.
Xiaojun: Damn, you're a player.
Me: It's not like that either! It's a poly relationship.
Xiaojun: Two guys? Interesting.
Me: Seven.

He chokes on air, dramatically coughing.

Xiaojun: Seven? There's no way in the world I could share the person I love with that many people.

I smile shrugging lightly. There was a time where I use to think I was only capable of loving one person, then they came into my life and completely flipped the narrative. I love each of them for different reasons but the love is the same strength.

Xiaojun: So you mean to tell me out of all of them you're not speaking to anyone?

I shake my head.

Me: They're job keeps them insanely busy and college is a bit time consuming in itself. We agreed to pause the relationship so we can handle our own business.
Xiaojun: Pause the relationship? Is that a thing?
Me: Yes, I think?

He leans back in his chair, eyeing me before chuckling.

Xiaojun: You're adorable.
Me: Um, thank you.

He tilts his head.

Xiaojun: I have a lot of money, I'm handsome, my house is huge and you'll never have to work a day in your life if you're with me.

What is he doing?

Xiaojun: I'll shower you with plenty of affection, gifts, sex. Whatever you need, whatever you want. Interested?

He's lost his mind.

Me: No.
Xiaojun: Why not?
Me: I literally just told you about my dilemma!
Xiaojun: They're your ex's, no dilemma there.
Me: On pause.
Xiaojun: I'd never put my job over you.

He laughs once he sees my expression.

Xiaojun: You couldn't move on to anyone else even if you wanted to. You really do love them, now stop denying yourself happiness and go call one of them.

Char's point of view

Hongjoong smiles from ear to ear once he steps foot in the kitchen. He picks me up and spins me around, making sure to place a big kiss on my cheek.

Hongjoong: It smells so good in here baby.
Me: I'd figured you'd be too tired to cook so, ta-da!

We eat in pure silence, he was starving and I was much more hungrier than I thought. Eventually we begin to talk about our day.

Whenever I talk around him I get shy.

He's a really good listener, from the eye contact to the expressions. He let's you know he's listening, he hears you, he understands.

His soft smile and the twinkle in his eye makes me feel warm, he's like home. You know when you're homesick for somewhere but don't know where it is? I think I've found it.

Handsome, compassionate, sweet and kind.
