Chapter 19

"Since I'm assuming you're kidnapping me, can I ask that we stop by a shop so I can get a toothbrush?"

They had placed a sheet over my head so I couldn't see where I was at, but they didn't tape my mouth. And now they were going to learn why it's always a bad idea to kidnap me.

"Shut up." A gruff voice said ahead of me and I frowned.

"Then will you be providing a toothbrush?"

"Why can't we kill him?" The same voice from before asked and I heard someone chuckle. There was no response though and I decided to take the time and familiarize myself with sounds outside. It was quiet, no other cars passing us or sounds of everyday life. We were also driving very slow down what sounded like a dirt road. So they were taking me somewhere in the countryside most likely. Well, that wasn't going to help me with escaping. Then again, it wouldn't be true kidnapping fashion if they took me somewhere in a city.

Why am I always getting kidnapped? Was there a hidden sign on my head that told people to do it, because this was honestly all that ever happened to me now.

After a few more minutes of driving in utter silence, the vehicle stopped and people started to get out. I was grabbed by the arm and dragged out of the vehicle and stumbled a little when my feet hit the ground. My wrists were zip tied in front of me and they were starting to dig into the skin. I don't care who you think you are, zip ties are really fucking difficult to break without cutting yourself.

I could tell everyone around me was trying hard to be quiet, so as not to give away the location or anything that could help me. Smart people. Obviously not some small time gang looking for street cred by kidnapping someone from one of the most prominent mafias. This was getting interesting. The one thing I could tell from my journey was there were a lot of doors we were going through. Something that was not going to help me with escaping. I would most definitely get confused and caught easily.

The last room we entered I immediately could tell was large. The echoes of footsteps and the overall sound was expanded more, meaning there was a larger area the sounds had to cover. Great, this was going to be fucking great. I was suddenly tossed, the ground hard dirt, and fell onto my side. Trying to get into a sitting position was hard as the zip ties dug deeper into my wrists. Someone began to approach me before they were called out to.

"Oi! Leave that on him until that guy gets here. I'm not about to get called a fookin donut again by him." The hard baritone told me it was the same guy from the car that rudely denied my request for a toothbrush. Glad to know he was just a pissy person in general, though. I heard their footsteps become further away before the sound of a heavy metal door being closed and I was left in a giant room by myself. However, they clearly didn't know who I was if they expected me to stay still and behave. First order of business was getting these damn zip-ties off. And unfortunately they were behind my back, so it was going to be next to impossible to break them. I pulled myself up, glad that I never missed leg days because that wouldn't have been easy if I didn't have some muscle in my legs. Thankfully, the bag slipped off when I stood up so I could see, but it wasn't helpful that the room was almost pitch black except for a single hanging light above me.

Typical kidnaper room.

Going forward, I bent my knees slightly so I could bring my feet through my arms and bring them in front of me. Now I just place my wrists to face each other an boom, no more zip ties. I never really believed how easy breaking those damn things were until we had to train for it. Okay, now I need somewhere to hide. Standing behind or beside the door could work if there was only one person coming in, but I highly doubt that I would only be facing one person so that was a no go. I turned around to see if there was anything in the back and sighed in relief when I saw a wooden beam. There were some dark stains on the floor around it and I figured that it was probably used for torturing. Something I could've been subject to if I hadn't of gotten accustomed to constantly being kidnapped all the damn time. Checking to see if it was big enough, I didn't have time to really make a full judgment when I heard the door being unlocked. I quickly jumped behind the beam and heard the door open.

"Shit!" Someone yelled and I heard feet moving towards the pole. It's now or never Alec.

Taking a deep breath, I slid out from my spot and grabbed the barrel of the man's gun, pulling it towards the ground and hearing his fingers snap. His attention was no longer on his gun, so I twisted it out of his hands and pulled it on him. "Back the fuck off!" I snapped and the guy, along with everyone else slowly moved backward, their guns still aimed at me but I could see the weariness on their faces.

"Honestly, I didn't expect anything less from the notorious Alec Campbell." I narrowed my eyes at a well-dressed man who stood in the middle of everyone. He clearly was the man they were talking about earlier because he didn't fit in with these dickheads at all. He had very sharp and strong facial features, accompanied by a clean shaven face and dirty blonde hair slicked back. The suit he wore screamed the amount of money he had and his shining watch on his wrist also spoke volumes. He started forward and I pointed the gun at the guy I stole the gun from.

"Keep coming forward and this guy loses his head," I warned and the man stopped before giving me a warm smile.

"You wouldn't shoot an innocent person, would you?" I stared at him for a while before firing the gun without taking my eyes off him. He smirked and looked away, and I followed suit so I could see the man I shot crying and yelling on the ground. I didn't plan on killing him, but I hit him in a spot that he would quickly bleed out from if they didn't get him to a doctor soon.

"See, this is why I told my sister kidnapping you was useless." The man sighed before snapping his fingers. "Alright, fellas, guns down. You may need to get him taken care of soon, he's looking a little pale and besides, I think our friend here is done with his shooting range fun."

"I'm not your friend, you tea leaf." I hissed, pointing the gun at him as the rest of the men grabbed the guy I shot and left the room.

"Seriously? Put the gun down. I'm finding it highly offensive that you're even pointing that at me when I've just saved your life."

"Are you taking a piss?" I laughed and he sighed.

"Sadly I am not."  I wasn't planning on lower the gun and he knew this, so he sighed again before shaking his head. "My name is Cornelious Ivanov." My eyes grew wide when I heard his last name and I cocked the gun. "Whoa now, slow down. Clearly, you know who I am, but you only know what you've been told. If you would like, I want to sit down and have a proper chat with you. And if you think this is a trick, I will allow you to keep the gun you have on you in case you feel you need it. Follow me when you're ready." He said before turning around and walking towards the door. I bit the inside of my cheek, telling myself to not follow him and kill him now while his back was turned but that was a cowardly thing to do. So, I'd play his game for now. I jogged over to him and saw him smile when I got to his side, which only made me roll my eyes. He was silent as we walked through the building, also mainly due to the fact that I was in shock at how vintage and expensive this place looked considering how the guys that kidnapped me dressed.

"This is my home. One of the Ivanov's main estates. I had the boys bring you here instead of where you were supposed to go." I knew he was saying this to make me try and lower my defenses, but there was no way in hell that was ever happening. We finally made it to a room that was clearly an office and Cornelius closed the doors before gesturing for me to have a seat in front of his desk. I begrudging obeyed and he took his seat with a heavy sigh.

"This whole situation is a giant mess."

"Listen, you have a very short time frame to explain what's happening before the Mancini brothers show up." I had no doubt they had already caught onto my disappearance, the only question is, can they find me?

"I would be highly impressed if they did, considering how secluded my house is." Well, that answers that question. "I do wish you would relax a bit. If anything I am on your side."

I laughed loudly at that because he was obviously joking. "Says the guy who's families bullet was just pulled out of my brother."

"I will not lie and say that wasn't my families fault, but I will say I personally had nothing to do with it."

"And you expect me to believe that?" He smiled sadly.

"Of course not, but I do hope you will after we talk." He was quiet for a while before speaking again. "Tell me what it is you know." I took a second to think if anything I said would cause any problems, but I knew I could move around bits and pieces.

"Why don't I ask you one question. Who is Fawn D'Amico to you?" I didn't miss the disgust that showed on his face for a brief second before he reached up to pinch the bridge of his nose. Good to know that Fawn wasn't just a headache to me.

"You know, I really hate beating around the bush." He leaned forward on his desk and put his hands together. "The bullet that hit your brother was one from my family that we use on hits. Whoever ordered that hit made it difficult to trace and the only family associated with mine that is good at being invisible is the D'Amicos. Am I correct?" I remained stoic, not wanting to give away any information. Even though it was spot on, I didn't know his intentions right now. He could be baiting me for something and with how things have been this past couple of years, trusting people is very difficult. Cornelious saw I wasn't going to respond, but he didn't seem displeased. "Good, now let me tell you what's really going on."

"Yes, the Ivanovs are connected to the D'Amicos, but only by marriage. So to put it bluntly, I am Fawns biological brother."

"What the actual bleeding fuck?" I gasped out. Okay, that I was not expecting.

"There is a part of the Ivanovs they've kept from the rest of our world. Their original heir committed suicide and they had no one else to take over. With the past leader being too old and their only other child being female, they enlisted the help of the D'Amicos, my family. I was married to their daughter and took over leading their group. My lovely sister grew angry over this because she no longer was able to see me anymore." He paused for a second and looked at something on his computer before turning his attention back to me. "In case you have yet to notice, my sister is extremely jealous."

"Oh yeah, I've noticed." I snorted and rolled my eyes, causing Cornelious to chuckle.

"She tried a multitude of things to get me back and the last attempt was the final straw for our father. In order to make amends, she decided that if she married into a well-known and well-off group as well, she could gain out fathers attention again and get back at me for leaving her."

"And thus began her conquest of Milo," I mumbled.

"Precisely."

I was quiet as I took in all the information before I came to a roadblock. "Wait, but there's only one issue. She has something on Milo. Something so deep that it's making him pretend to be straight."

"Can I be completely honest with you?" Cornelius asked and I nodded my head for him to continue. "She's lying."

"Pardon?" I snapped. There was no way in hell she could be lying! Milo and his brother were not that dense that they wouldn't catch onto what was going on.

"I would like to say I think I know my sister very well but that wouldn't be true, because I dont need to think I know her; I do know her. I know every little game she likes to play in order to get her way and its the exact reason why she was trying to keep me in the dark. Because she knew that once I found out, I would catch on immediately to what she's doing. And the fact that we are even having this conversation means that you've begun to catch on as well and she's trying to do damage control."

"Holy fucking shit, this is a lot to take in." I sighed while leaning forward and rubbing at my temples. I knew Fawn was crazy but I wasn't expecting her to be an elaborate crazy. "Okay, so what do I do now? Am I supposed to confront her about this or what? Because I'm sure as hell not letting this marriage happen now."

"Now I can explain why I had you brought here," Cornelious said with a smile and I rolled my eyes because I had a feeling I was about to hear some bullshit.

"My father has realized that Fawn's action are not true and he's officially washed his hands with anything related to her."

"Okay, cool. What does that have to do with me?" I asked and he stared at me for a while before leaning forward and clasping his hands together.

"We want you to kill her."
