Chapter 15

"Give me back my phone you prick!" I snapped at Miko and he glared at me as he held my phone in his hand.

"Not until you talk to me." He snapped back and I scoffed.

"Why should I? So you can throw more of my shitty actions in my face?" I watched him frown and he sighed before holding out my phone. I grabbed it from him and stuffed it in my pocket before deciding that it would be best to stay and talk with him. Especially now that I have new info from Alfie about their dad.

"Listen, I was out of line and I realize that now. I can apologize all I want but there is no use in it because I was a massive dick. So if you accept my apology or not is up to you and I won't hold either decision personal." I stared at him for a good while before smirking.

"I think you should give your brother a few pointers on how to properly apologize." Miko sighed again.

"Yeah, well I think he may be a lost cause with a lot of things." Now that piqued my curiosity and I remembered what I needed to speak with him about.

"Hey, once Josh gets here and him and Sean make up, I need to talk to you," I paused to look around the hall. My suspicions of Fawn made me a little paranoid now when it came to my surroundings. She could be around any corner or paying someone to spy on me. Once I determined the area to be a little safe, I finished my sentence. "It's really important." Miko looked like he wanted me to go into further detail, but I think he caught the hint that this wasn't something that could be discussed out in the open like this.

"Uhm yeah, that's no problem. Do you know when Josh should be getting here?" He too was acting suspicious at our surroundings and I think he hadn't considered the possibility that someone could be spying on us.

"I was getting ready to call him when you rudely snatched my phone away." He rolled his eyes at me and scoffed.

"Yeah okay. I'll be in my office when you're ready to speak." I watched him walk away and blew out a puff of air before turning my attention to my phone, finding Josh's name in my contact list and pressing call. I waited as it rang, almost to the last one before he answered very quickly.

"Yes, hello?" He huffed and I became curious to know why he sounded so out of breath.

"You alright there?" I asked and he was quiet for a second before I heard some movement and then he let out a loud groan.

"Sorry 'bout that. I was trying to get my stuff on the train and into my cabin." Ah, so he really was coming up here now. But how did he-- "And before you ask 'well how did you get a ticket you cheeky bastard?' let me answer you. There's a girl who frequents the shop and is obsessed with your brother and me. SO I called her up, told her a sob story and she offered to hold up the train shes working on tonight so I could sneak on."

"That explains how you afforded compartment seating," I said sarcastically and he scoffed. "I'm kidding Josh. I don't care how, but I'm just glad you're coming tonight rather than tomorrow."

"Why, is something wrong?" He asked immediately and his voice told me he was worried about Sean. Then I realized that what I had just said may have come off that way since I didn't further clarify.

"No no! Sorry I should've better explained." I ran a hand down my face and sighed. "Sean is okay...well, not really but he's doing a lot better than I thought." Suddenly, an idea popped into my head and I gasped. "Josh! I have the perfect plan!"

"Do tell, you kind of just scared me there with that gasp." He chuckled and I rolled my eyes.

"I'm going to have Miko set you up with a hotel for when you get in. Then tomorrow, I'll take Sean out and we can explore around town while you get a nice little date set up. I'll lead him to it and then bounce once you show up. That way you both can talk it out and makeup." He was silent on his end for a while and I began to wonder if maybe I was moving too fast for all this. This fight could be bigger than Sean was letting on.

"So he's that mad at me, huh?"

"I mean--actually... it's not my place to tell you. Just trust me when I say that tomorrow everything will be fixed. I'll text you all the details after I talk with Miko." I told him, hurrying to get off the phone before I missed the man I needed to see. He said he'd be in his office, but he didn't specify for how long and it was getting late.

"Alright, I'll trust you on this one." Josh sighed before saying goodbye and hanging up. Now to check on Sean before I head up to Miko. I knocked on the door and waited for my brother to answer before entering. He was still very self-conscious about his body...which now makes me wonder...

"Sean," I called out and he popped his head from inside the bathroom. "Is the real reason behind this fight because you still haven't had sex with Josh?" Oh wow, Alec. Learn to ask things a little more subtly next time. My brothers face turned ruby red before he huffed and slammed the door shut.

I'll take that as a yes to my question.

I don't think I needed to go into any more detail about that situation, so I decided to take my leave. "I'm gonna go talk with Miko for a bit." I paused and thought for a second before adding, "Keep the door locked until I get back." While I did trust most of the people in this house to not fuck with me, I didn't trust one person in particular. Sean never responded so I just said goodbye before leaving the room. I knew he was embarrassed that I had caught onto the real reason behind his and Josh's fight, so once I left he'd most likely come out and lock the door before waiting for me to get back. I wish he would just go to sleep though because I didn't think I'd feel like talking to him after seeing Miko. We had quite a bit to hash out and I had a feeling it was going to leave me drained and frustrated.

On my way up to his office, I noted how quiet the house seemed. It was almost one in the morning, but there was normally always the quiet chatter of members on guard or the sound so someone getting food from the kitchen. After making it to Mikos office, I knocked twice before opening the door and entering.

"I didn't think you'd be coming now of all times to talk," Miko said with a bit of sass and I rolled my eyes before taking a seat in front of his desk.

"I'm actually here to speak about something other than our friendship," I told him and he laughed.

"Of course! Our deteriorating friendship is of no concern."

"Anyway," I drawled. "I want to set up a hotel for Josh to stay in for a week. I'm planning for him and Sean to have a little reunion and perhaps solve their issues." I hoped Miko caught onto what I meant in the last part of my sentence because I honestly had no intention to speak to him about my brother and best friends sex life.

"And by I want you, you mean you want me to do it." He stated and I nodded my head.

"You catch on quick!"

"Yeah yeah, give me a sec." I waited patiently as he did some things in his computer before leaning back in his chair. "All done. I've sent him the address and all the information he needs."

"Okay, and I need to know as well since I need to bring Sean there."

"The Square Hotel."

"For fucks sake Miko, it's just a surprise dinner, not a luxury vacation." While there were many luxury hotels throughout Brighton, this specific one had quite the reputation. So honestly I shouldn't be surprised that he booked it for Josh. Either way, a nice Airb&b would have sufficed! He motioned for me to come over so I got up to go look at his computer screen, observing pictures of the room he booked. It was really nice and I'm sure Josh was going to be calling me any second now shitting.

"Despite what others say, you're still part of this family. So your family is our family and you all reap the benefits that we have." I felt like this was another way to make up for our argument and it was probably a good time as ever to discuss it.

"Listen." I paused and tried to think of how to go about this. "What you said about me and Milo wasn't wrong."

"Regardless if it was right or wrong, I shouldn't have brought it up or said anything," Miko added and I shook my head.

"No, I'm glad you did." This made the man look at me in pure confusion, which was understandable. In these sort of situations, it's expected that someone in my position wouldn't want to hear the truth and might even continue to play the victim. But I'd done enough of that.

"I was living in this glass bubble thinking that I was always in the right when it came to our relationship. We first started dating, I was horrible to your brother. I was very quick to judge and snap at him without stopping to see my faults as well, which led to us breaking up and me moving on fairly quickly considering I loved the man. So when he did the same to me, what right do I have to continue being angry that he's moved on? Makes me a hypocrite to say he can't have another relationship so soon after breaking up when I did the same."

"Don't lose hope." Miko said with a surprising amount of softness in his voice. I'd never heard Miko talk that kind before so I was a little taken aback. "This engagement is a front to something and I know Fawn is behind it. Once we uncover it and bring it to light, you and Milo can be together and Fawn will be no more."

I smiled sadly at him before looking at his desk. "It's a nice thought, but a far reach." In a swift movement, Miko has gotten up from his seat and was pulling me into a very tight hug. I was completely stunned by the action that it took me a second to react.

"I won't let you guys fall apart. You both still care deeply for each other and I refuse to have it ruined anymore." Miko muffled into my shoulder and it was finally dawning on me how much I meant to Miko. He was always the number one supporter of mine and Milos relationship, so of course, he would be doing everything in his power to help us.

There was a knock on the door and before we could release each other from our hug, it opened to Milo walking in. He did a double-take at our closeness before pinning his brother with a glare.

"Am I interrupting something?" He asked curtly and I moved away from Miko a little. I shouldn't be feeling guilty about anything though. Miko and I have absolutely no feelings for one another and the hug was only between two friends. It's common to hug your friends!

Miko scoffed at his brother. "You of all people should know that I don't bat for the other team." This didn't appease Milo.

"You two have seemed pretty close lately. Is my brother planning to hook up with my ex?" He said this so smugly that I couldn't help but respond.

"Wipe that look off your face. What I do in my future relationships has absolutely nothing to do with you, you dickhead." I snapped at him and he looked a little shocked by my outburst before biting his cheek and looking away.

"No you're right, I'm sorry. I know that there's nothing going on between you two." He sighed heavily as he flopped down onto a chair, splaying out like a starfish. "Fawns doing my head in so I let my frustrations be put on both of you."

Now it was my turn to sigh, but it turned into a noise of displeasure. "I really hate to be that ex-boyfriend, but can we maybe not talk about your fiancé in front of me? Some wounds haven't healed yet."

"What's she doing this time?" Miko asked, ignoring my comment. I shot him a dirty look before looking over at Milo. While I did mean what I said about not wanting to hear about Fawn, I was a little interested in what they were fighting about. Maybe it could be something that would give Miko and I a clue as to why we believe this engagement is fake.

As if the fact the Milo has always been gay wasn't enough evidence.

Milo groaned, throwing his head back and rubbing his hands down his face. "She isn't too happy with certain interactions I've been having." He sat up straight and his eyes met mine. "Those interactions having to do with you."

"Me?" I scoffed in disbelief. Now that was a shock. "She turned a very well known gay man--very suspiciously, might I add--into a straight man and had him propose to her in a matter of months and shes still jealous of me?"

"She claims that my ex shouldn't be living in the same house as me. Said something about it being uncultural." Milo stated, putting air quotations around the last word. Miko rolled his eyes at him and began to shake his head.

"I'm sorry, but your finance is dumb as rocks." He said. "What the hell does Alec staying here have to do with culture?" He yelled and his brother looked just as done as him.

"Tell me about it. That's why I came here to get away, but I'm guessing if she finds out the person behind our fights is in the very room I went running off too isn't going to sit well with her...so let's  just keep this situation a secret, yeah?"

"Or I could just leave."

"Or you could stay."

"Yes, because I totally envisioned spending my evening in a room with my ex and his brother that said ex is convinced I'm sleeping with."

"I never confirmed if I thought you two were sleeping together."

"Only you would care so much about who I am and who I'm not sleeping with."

"Seems understandable when the only bed you belong in is mine."

Now that shut me up and I could immediately feel the awkwardness in the air.

"Yeah, I can leave and let you guys have some alone time. The sexual tension is really strong in here." Miko said, making hand movements in the air and I snapped out of the daze I was in from Milo's last comment.

"I don't sleep with guys that are spoken for." I looked at Milo and it looked like he wanted to say something desperately, but he closed his mouth and leaned back into the chair.

"Agreed. I've never pinned myself as a cheater." Why did it sound like that wasn't what he wanted to say at all? Something was really up and I was becoming more convinced it had to do with that bitch. "Anyway, what exactly were you two doing in here?"

"Well, I was planning on getting my dick sucked before you walked in." I whipped my head to look at Miko in complete shock but he started laughing hysterically. "Oh my god! The looks on your faces! I totally should've been videotaping that." I huffed and punched him in the arm, fairly hard might I add.

"We were planning a date for my brother and Josh," I told Milo, ignoring Miko complaining about his arm. "They had a falling out and I'm wanting them to make up so we booked them a room at The Square Hotel and I'm going to take Sean out shopping and then surprise him with Josh at the hotel."

"Do you need any help with anything?" His question stunned me because I wasn't expecting it. Why does he want to help me? Isn't he busy with running an underground organization and planning a wedding?

"Aren't you busy?" I voiced my thoughts and Miko made a point to give his brother a look.

Milo looked at him before sighing. "Yeah, you're right. Plus I don't want to give Fawn any more reasons to bitch at me." I chewed on the inside of my cheek before turning to Miko.

"Can you leave for a second?" I asked and he furrowed his brows. "I need to talk with your brother and I need you to go make sure Fawn doesn't come busting up in here." I could tell Miko looked weary and his expressions confused me. I wasn't going to do anything. I honestly just wanted to try and get to the bottom of these hidden messages every time Milo spoke about his engagement, and I had a feeling it would be easier to do so without Miko here.

"Yeah...I'll go stand watch," Miko responded slowly before walking to the door. Once I heard it close, I moved over to the chair next to Milo and sat down.

"How about that serious talk you've been asking for?"

"Are we really about to do this?" Milo asked and I nodded my head.

"Uhm, Yeah. I guess. I mean...there's a lot that needs to be said that could help bring closure—"

"I don't want closure." Milo interrupted and I made a face.

"We can't keep doing this weird...whatever around each other. You're engaged for fucks sake! Why do you keep hinting at the fact that you still love me? Is there something you're not telling me about this whole situation?"

He seemed to be thinking as he looked away, rubbing at the growing stubble on his jaw. If there was one thing I'd become recently it was definitely not subtle. But I was tired of beating around the bush and doing this weird back and forth with him about our relationship.

"Milo I want you to be completely honest and real with me," I spoke and it drew his attention back to me. "Did you really break up with me because you fell out of love?" The silence was unbearable and my heart was pounding in my chest because I felt like with this amount of quiet, he was going to give me an answer I was expecting all along. As he continued to stare at me, my anxiety grew before he finally spoke.

"No."
