The day breezed by quickly, and so did the upcoming weeks. I learned how to summon blazing fire or destructive water. I learned how to make tendrils of vines trap my opponents, or how to make trees fall over with incredibly strong bursts of wind. I learned how to make shadows bend to my will, and how to make blood cover the cracks of the earth. I was strong and powerful.

"Christina, when can I go after Moone?" I asked for the fiftieth time.

"When you are ready, Adara. I cannot send you after Moone unprepared. It would be irresponsible, and the wrong thing to do. You must prove that you can survive up against a supernatural being. Your cloak may add to your intimidating look, but looks are not everything."

"Then how do I prove it to you? I've gone up against you, haven't I?"

"And you were pinned to the ground in the first minute."

"Well, Moone is far weaker than you are, Christina. How can I prove it to you?"

Christina adapted a pondering look, and I watched her. Maybe she had gotten an idea. And I later found out that she had. I waited for a minute or two, and then Christina finally spoke.

"I want you to sneak into the human town and find a man with grey eyes. Any one of them will do. Kill him, and bring his head to me. Succeed at this task, and I will let you go after Moone. I have several poisons in my stash. Grab the one that you think will aide you in your task. Do not fail me, Adara."

I bowed my head. "I will not fail you, Christina. Where are the poisons?"

"They are in the shack. Just go north and keep walking until you find it. Any weapons that you happen to know how to use are also in there, in case you want to take some with you. However, you are a weapon all on your own, so I doubt that you will need any blades or guns or bows."

Then, Christina walked away, soft tiger feet unable to be heard. I could see a sort of compass engraved in the training area ground - that was new - and I went the direction that said was north. It was a somewhat long trek, but I didn't mind. I could feel my cloak dragging against the floor of the forest. I would need to take my cloak with me, so that the humans wouldn't run away. Scared prey was prey that tended to be cornered, and corned prey was prey that attacked as a last defense.

I found the shack after a while. It was wooden, and small, but it looked much larger on the inside. There were bags all in lines, all clearly labeled with the name of the poison and what it did to a person. I needed something that could be give somebody a certain affect without having to be eaten.

I turned around in the small space. There was a sign on the wall. It read 'These poisons are not harmful to supernatural creatures, unless you are taking without permission, which, in that case, the poison will take effect if you merely touch the poison'.

That was nice to know. I wasn't going to die of poison anytime soon, that was for sure. I looked back at the labels of the poisons, trying to choose. I needed to kill a grey eyed man, or else I would not be able to go after Moone and kill the creature who made my normal life go up in flames.

After a bit more searching, I found what I needed. It was called 'Death of Mind'. Apparently, it was supposed to cause the affected ones mind to just die off. It looked dangerous, though it just seemed to be a yellow - hi-lighter yellow, not whatever you were thinking - and I took the bag with me, leaving the cabin. I heard the door lock behind me with a click, even though I hadn't locked it. Strange. Still, anything could happen in a little community where everybody had some sort of power. Power. I loved the way the word felt when I'd think about it. Power, the source of greed and conflict. Still, my request wasn't out of greed.

It was out of desire for revenge.

Once Moone was dead, I'd go back to my family and I'd live with them and try and go back to the life that I had before I had become a lion. I'd be able to leave my past behind, and even if the cops found me, I could change into my lion form. And who would even try to put a lion in jail? I was completely safe from fear of arrest.

I adjusted my cloak, making sure that all my features were hidden. Then, I left camp, trying to find the human town. I would earn the privilege of murdering Moone. I would kill him, and I would be filled with joy as his blood covered the ground. How would I kill Moone? Would it be a stabbing? An arrow to the heart? Maybe decapitation would bring a higher satisfaction rate. Or maybe it'd be a good idea to stick with tooth and claw. Any way that he ended up dying would be a good one in my mind.

It took a while, and a lot of mess ups, but eventually, I found the human town. It was filled with people rushing about, and noise filled the area, making me cringe because of my sensitive ears and all. It was like a concrete jungle, and the cars were the deadly metal predators.

I ventured in with caution, because it seemed like an eternity since I had last been in a human town. How long ago was it that I had become a lion in class? It was at least a month; I knew that much. As stared at the town, a feeling of anticipation rushed through my veins. I was the predator, and the hunt was about to begin.
