*Athena's POV*

After Sarabi and Sarafina left, I laid down near the tip of Pride Rock. I can see the whole kingdom from up here. Animal herds are moving or standing around. Birds are flying in the beautiful early afternoon skies. I lay my head down over my two front paws, drifting off into a quiet nap.

"Athena?"

I twitch my ear. Loud paw steps are coming close. I lift my head turning it to my left side seeing mother come forward.

"Oh, hello mother." I greeted.

She sat down beside me looking through out the large kingdom. "You've been distant since this morning. You okay?"

"Yeah." I lied.

Mother can always sense when someone is lying. She move her red eyes away from the kingdom looking down at me.

"Athena, is there something bothering you?" She asked.

I look down at my front paws.

"Athena?"

I sighed, "It's Taka, mom. When will he come home?"

Mother's eyes turn sad. She shrug her furry shoulders. "I don't know Athena. Me and your father are doing everything we can right now to find him. The Lion Guards have been searching the lands since last night."

"No, their not looking hard enough."

"Athena."

"I know Taka is out there, mom!"

I got up and exit down Pride Rock running away. I can hear mother yell my name. Her loud roar echo across the large kingdom. I ignore her and kept running with tears filling in my eyes making it hard for me to see. Somehow I trip and fell on belly. Dirt and peddles got stuck on my fur. I stood up shaking them off.

"Hey, it's a lioness!" Said a voice.

I move my ears around like a radar, tuning in every sound.

"She'll make great dinner for tonight!" Said a second voice.

Then their was laughter.

I gasp, "No, hyenas. How did they get in?"

Four adult hyenas came out from the tall grass. I start walking backwards.

"Aaaah, I smell royalty." Said the third hyena smiling evilly.

The fourth hyena laughed. "And she's alone which is even better!"

I growl at them. "My father will kill you all. He banished your clan!"

The first hyena who's a female walked up close. I'm guessing she's the leader. "The King wouldn't dare to hurt us. He's no fool! We can easily wipe out the pride with the number of hyenas I have in my clan."

The second hyena who's a male nodded. "Exactly. Now hold still so we can eat ya!"

I roar, "No!"

I smack the female hyena hard with my paw and sprint off running.

The female hyena growled. "Bad mistake, Princess!"

I hear barking and look behind seeing the hyenas chase after me. Out of no where, a lion jump over me with a loud roar. I stop running and so did the hyenas.

It stood in front protecting me like a shield and growled.

"Back away from my sister, hyenas or you'll meet your grave!"

My eyes grew wide. "Taka?!"

The female hyena laughed. "Oh, it's the second prince here trying to rescue his sister."

The second hyena also laughed. "Two against four huh?"

"Let's fight!" Yelled the fourth hyena.

The third hyena ran up first. Taka smacked him with his paw. The second hyena ran up and Taka pounce on him. The two fell down on their sides. Taka quickly got up and went for the throat, slicing it right through with his claws. The fourth hyena jump on his back entering her sharp teeth. Taka roar with pain and slung her off. She flew to a tree, hitting her head in the process. The last hyena to fight is the leader. It's two against one now.

"Come on and fight!" Taka yelled at her.

She took off running home.

"And stay out of the Pride Lands!" I yelled.

Taka breathed heavily in and out, then fell down on his side. I race up and nuzzle him.

"Brother, are you alright?" I ask, scared.

His eyes are closed. I watch them slowly open and he nod coughing with a smile. "Hey Athena, I'm okay."

I look at his fur. It's covered in blood, scratches, bites, and dirt. I help him up on his paws. Taka stood shaking his fur and then lick some of the scratches on his arms.

"Where have you been all this time? Come on, mother and father are desperately looking for you!" I said, smiling excitedly.

Taka started to walk off in the direction that leads out of the Pride Lands.

"I can't come home, Athena." He said.

I look confused. "Why?"

"Mufasa is the future King. This pride doesn't want me anymore."

"What? Taka, that's crazy talk!"

He turned around and gave me an angry growl. "Stop calling me Taka. It's Scar!"

I jump and place a paw on my chest. Taka sense me frighten and made sad eyes. He walk up head budding me.

"This is no longer my home. We'll meet again soon some day. Take care, little sis." Taka said.

A tear slip down from my left eye. I watch him turn back around and continue his walk fast out of the Pride Lands. I can't believe it...

My brother is gone...
