Murder
Dalila
I pace myself back and forth waiting on Simba's return. I'm running out of patience now. The sun is setting meaning night is about to fall. Where in the world is Simba? I start to look for him and left the beautiful scene.
"Simba?" I call out.
No response. I call again and again. Same thing, no response. I hope he's alright. I began to worry. Maybe if i find that meerkat Timon, he'll be able to tell me where he is. I went to their favorite hang out at the waterfall.
"Timon?"
I push pass a green bush and see at the waterfall Simba and some lioness. So this is where Simba was at whole time. The two are head budding each other with flirty smiles. It's obvious that they're in love.
The lioness led him away from the waterfall down to the river part to drink. Simba joined then stop. He lift his head staring at her with admiration in his eyes. She looks up with confusion not getting why he's staring.
Simba walks off and comes back swinging on a long green vine. He falls into the river splashing the lioness in the process. Simba didn't come up to the surface right away. I panic and so did she.
Out of no where he swims up fast and grab the lioness pulling her inside the cool water. She swam out instantly and shook coldly with wet dripping fur. Simba walks halfway out the river with his mane covering his eyes added with a goofy smile.
The lioness smirks and push his face causing him to fall backwards in the water. She then runs off. Simba got out the river and chase after her laughing.
Where are they going?
I slowly follow behind them but quietly so I wouldn't be noticed. They chase each other around the jungle in a playful manner. The lioness stands up on her back paws and so did Simba as they paw at each other's face.
Not paying any attention, the lioness walk backwards unbalanced and trips over a green vine. She grab Simba's furry shoulders to hold on but fell down anyway. Simba laughs thinking as if it's another game. They both roll down a high soft grassy hill together.
I walk and stand on top of the hill watching them both land below. The lioness is on her back and Simba is on top. What the lioness did next was shocking. She kissed him! These two must know each other.
Simba stare deep inside her eyes. Nothing but love in them. He smiled lovingly. Once they got up, they nuzzle each other with loud purrs. I can hear my heart shatter in a million of pieces.
So this is what a heart break feels like...
My eyes began to water. I turn around and run away.
Was I just a friend?
But I thought Simba and I started to have something more?
I guess not...
Maybe that was what he was going to tell me earlier...
That he has a girlfriend...
I growl with jealousy while speeding up my running pace.
How could he?!
Doesn't he see?!
I love him...
My eyes water bad now making it impossible for me to see what's ahead because my vision had blurred.
"Dalila?"
It's Pumba's voice.
I stop running and sat down sobbing. Pumba comes slowly forward with Timon on his back.
"Hey, what's wrong?" Timon asks.
I cover my eyes with my paws. "S-Simba..."
"What about him? Is he okay??"
"H-He's in love w-with someone e-else."
Timon and Pumba look at each other. Their eyes sadden as they come close giving me a comfort hug.
"You saw too huh?" Pumba asks.
I nod but finally stop crying. "Yeah..."
"I guess Simba has now grown up. He doesn't need us anymore as his parents. We've done a good job Pumba!" Timon said.
Pumba smiles.
I frown standing up. "No, it's not just that you guys."
"Then what is it?" Timon asks.
"I-I like Simba..."
"Meaning as a friend?"
"Or more?" Pumba adds in.
I look down shyly at my paws. "More than a friend..."
Timon jumps up and down happily. "I knew it, I just knew it!"
"Huh?"
"I knew one day you two would fall in love. Sparks are everywhere!"
"But I'm the one that's only in love. Not Simba."
Pumba nods. "Yeah. He's together now with that Nala lioness."
I lift a brow. "Nala?"
That name rings a bell.
"Simba told me about her earlier. He said she was his old best friend from his pride back home. What is she doing here?"
Timon shrugs. "I guess to find him apparently and bring him back home as the rightful King. I don't know!"
"They're just meant to be. You can't break the bond of true love." Said Pumba.
I frown at him. Pumba quickly correct himself.
"I mean man, I'd hate to be her right now."
Timon roll his eyes.
I start walking my way home to my pride. "Well, if anyone needs me I'll be home."
"Bye Dalila!" Pumba waves.
"You know where to find us if you need anything!" Timon yells.
"Thanks!" I half smile.
I love those two even though they're sometimes a bit annoying.
I came to another stop hearing someone argue loudly back and forth. My ears twitch.
Huh?
"No one needs me." I hear Simba say.
I move in closer but hide myself behind a tree.
"Yes, we do! You're the king." The lioness 'Nala' voice reply.
"Nala, we've been through this. I'm not the king. Scar is."
"Simba, he let the hyenas take over the Pride Lands."
"What?"
"Everything's destroyed. There's no food. No water. Simba, if you don't do something soon, everyone will starve."
"I can't go back."
Nala's voice grow louder. "Why?"
"You wouldn't understand."
He told me the same thing...
"What wouldn't I understand?"
"No, no, no. It doesn't matter. Hakuna Matata." Simba hastily answers.
Nala looks confused. "What?"
She seriously doesn't know what that means? Wow.
"Hakuna Matata. It's something I learned out here. Look, sometimes bad things happen..."
"Simba!"
Simba continues irritated. "And there's nothing you can do about it. So why worry?"
Simba starts away from Nala, walking on a fallen tree. Nala trots back up to him.
"Because it's your responsibility!"
"Well, what about you? You left."
"I left to look for my lost brother and also to find help for our pride! And I found you. Don't you understand? You're our only hope."
"Sorry."
"What's happened to you? You're not the Simba I remember."
"You're right. I'm not. Now are you satisfied?"
"No, just disappointed."
"You know, you're starting to sound like my father." Simba said walking away again.
"Good. At least one of us does."
Simba is cut by the comment about his father. He tears into Nala with his words.
Something must of happened to his father...
"Listen, you think you can just show up and tell me how to live my life? You don't even know what I've been through!" He angrily says.
"I would if you would just tell me!"
"Forget it!"
"Fine!"
Simba stomps off. Next he ran to a field far away from Nala. She told stood there left alone hurt and confused in tears.
"I just don't understand..." I heard her loudly whisper. "Why is he being this difficult?"
I somewhat felt her feelings and look down sadly. But then I thought, "Now this is my chance to fix Simba and tell him how I feel."
My face light back up as I left running to the field where Simba had went. I hope he's still there.
I sniff the air. His scent is strong. He's still here. I continue walking through the grass.
"Simba?" I call out.
My voice echoes.
I'm too late...
I sat down haunch over with a sad sigh.
Please Simba...
Please be here...
"Dalila?"
I hear grass movement and twigs being snap. The voice sounds familiar. I turn around and see...SIMBA!
I jump up to my paws and pin him down happily. He gasps not expecting my sudden excitement.
"I've been waiting all day for you!"
"I know." He said. He sounds pretty upset though. Probably heartbroken over that Nala. Boo-Hoo!
I got off him so he can get up. Simba sat down across from me with his ears flat hanging low against his head.
I tried to pretend as if I didn't know what was going on. "What's wrong?"
"I'm just so lost. I didn't know where to go or what to chose." He replied.
"What do you mean?"
"If I should return home to my pride or stay here."
"Stay here."
Simba met his ruby colored eyes with my olive ones. "Why? I thought you wanted me to go back to my pride and be King. Why the change?"
Right here this is the part I should tell Simba how I feel about him...
"Because I...uh...Timon and Pumba will miss you!" I stammered.
"Yeah, your right. But they'll be proud if I went. They were all shocked and all today earlier when they found out that I'm future a King."
"Wait, you never told them?"
"Nope."
I look surprised. "How come I was the only one?"
Simba shrug. "I don't know. I guess I trust you more Dalila. I knew you wouldn't make it such a huge deal."
"Oh..."
Awkward silence fell. Only the sound of croaking frogs and chirping crickets can be heard.
Come on Dalila, this is the time to spill your feelings to Simba! Do it now or you'll soon regret it.
I gulp then loudly clear my throat. Simba look at me again giving me his full attention.
"What?" He asks.
I swing my tail back and forth biting my furry bottom lip. "This may sound crazy but..."
"Come on, I can handle crazy Dalila. But what?"
"No it's like really crazy."
"Tell me!"
I walk up to Simba closer and rub my side against him purring softly. "I-I like you, Simba. More than a friend!"
Simba eyes widen.
"Uh no..." He said.
I lift a brow. "What?"
"Nala had told me the same exact thing. My old best friend came here today. We reunited! But it didn't end so well though..."
Darn it! I was close...
I roll my eyes and sat back down. "What happened?"
Simba look down sad again. "We got into a bad argument. Nala tried to make me return home with her to take my rightful place as King. She told me my uncle named Scar has turned into a bad King letting the hyenas control the pride lands taking up all the food and water."
"Oh my, that's terrible!"
"Yeah, I know."
Wow, Simba really needs to go home then. His pride is in danger. They can all die soon!
"Go on, go home." I told him seriously.
"What?" He asks confused again.
"Simba your pride is in bad danger. They need you, Nala is right."
"But I can't. That's the problem I've been telling you both for the hundredth time!"
Simba walks away irritated. I follow right behind him.
"Just tell me what it is already. What keeps holding you back, Simba? This has stop. Nala and I our trying to figure out what's wrong with you. We need to know. One of us might be able to help if you tell why."
"No, it's not worth it."
"Let me guess, it's about your father."
Simba stop walking and turn around quick looking at me very shocked.
Oh snap...
"How did you know?"
"Uh, know about what?" I sort of chuckled.
"My father. Who told you?" He squint his eyes as if he's looking right through me.
"Let's just say I heard you and Nala's argument earlier and she had mentioned something about your father."
Simba close his eyes and sighed. I walk up closer to him again resting my head on his left shoulder.
"Tell me Simba, what happen to him? It's okay."
"It's not okay! I'm a murder okay!! There I said it. You're happy, Dalila?" Simba snatch himself away from me. He grew angry, his voice louder and more annoyed.
Murder?
"What?" I ask.
"I'm a murder. It's my fault...it's all my fault. He died because of me. If I wasn't in that gorge that day when I was cub..."
Simba began to sob.
Oh no...
I pull myself closer to him for the third time and hug him. He cried on my shoulder.
My best friend, my crush...a murder?
This can't be right...
"Tell me everything Simba. Let it all out. What exactly happened that day in the gorge. Do you remember?"
"I rather not... Just leave it as that. It's my fault he's dead. I saw it with my own eyes..."
Poor Simba...
I see why he's been regretting and holding on this whole time...
He doesn't want to go home because he killed his father...
The old king...
"If I go back..." He continues, "Everyone will see me as a killer. My mother would go insane..."
"I see. But what about your uncle. He'll continue to starve your pride and bring more danger with the hyenas. Something has to be stopped Simba."
Simba sniffs then frown. "Nala is highly intelligent. I'm sure will think of something. I'm not going back and that's final!"
I smile. "Good. Now we can be together."
"Huh?"
I stand up and rub my tail underneath Simba's chin. "I said, now we can be together. We can start our own pride in the jungle."
Simba shook his head. "Dalila I can't-"
I put my paw on his mouth. "Ssshhh. Follow me!"
I continue to smile lead Simba further away inside the fields where no one will find us.
I got him where I want him...
