Lunch and Baths

*Jengo's POV*

I follow grandma back to the pride. The lionesses went to go hunt afternoon lunch. Their cubs stayed home with the elderly's. My grandpa is out busy patrolling the Sky Leaf lands. I always wonder where our pride got the "Sky Leaf" name from. I mean, it's cool or whatever. Just very different.

Grandma went in the den leaving me outside standing alone. I hear paw steps behind me.

"Jengo?"

It's my mom's soft voice. I turn my head facing her.

"Yes, mommy?" I ask.

"I was going to give you your afternoon bath, but I'll wait until after you eat your lunch."

"Yay, I can stay dirty!"

My mom smirked. "Yeah, for now."

I brush my body against her front legs purring. She chuckle and place a paw on my head.

"Aye, Jengo!" A voice called.

I stop rubbing against my mom and twitch my ears. That voice sound so familiar. A dark tannish cub ran straight towards me. It's my best buddy, "Taavi". He jump on me, causing me to fall down on my side. I laugh as he growled bitting my left ear playfully.

"Hey, Taavi!"

"I'm going to let you two boys play." My mom said, walking into the den.

I watch her go then look back at Taavi who's still on top of me. I got up and pinned him down quick on his back.

Taavi grinned. "Someone got their strength today."

I smile and let him up. "Maybe."

"So, did your auntie Queen Uru have her Cubs yet?"

"How did you know?"

Taavi roll on his side, then got up sitting with a chuckle. "Every one in the pride knows Jengo. Your grandpa announced it earlier when him and your grandma came back from the Pride Lands!"

I sat down across from Taavi nodding my head. "I should of known."

"How come you didn't go with them?"

"My mommy didn't want me to."

Taavi look confused. "And why is that? I mean, they're your baby cousins..."

I look down at my paws. "I said the same thing, Taavi! My grandma told my mommy that she's forced to go visit next time. Maybe I'll be able to go then."

"When you do, please tell me what the Pride Lands are like when you get back Jengo. I always wanted to go. I heard it's very beautiful!"

"That's how my grandma and grandpa describe it every time they go. I always wanted to go too. I haven't seen my auntie Uru in a while. The last time she visit here was when she came with my uncle Ahadi. That's when she told my grandparents and mommy she's expecting a baby!"

"You mean three babies?" Taavi corrected.

"Yeah." I nod.

"Wish I was born to a King or Queen. I wonder what's life like being royalty."

"Pain in the butt I heard from my mommy."

Taavi lift a brow. "Isn't your mommy next in line for the crown after one of your grandparents die?"

A fly buzzed around my ear. I swat it away with my paw. "Yeah. But she doesn't want it."

"Say what?! Then who'll take over the pride?"

"Me..."

Taavi put a paw on my shoulder and smiled. "Really? Congrats, Jengo!"

I smiled back. "Thanks."

"I know you'll be a great King."

"I hope so Taavi, I hope."

The lionesses came back with lunch finally. We're having zebra, my favorite!

"Mommy, lunch is here!" I yelled.

Taavi walked off to join his mother in the feast. My mommy and grandma step out the den trying to see what the lionesses brought.

"It's zebra." I told them.

They nod and joined the hungry adult eaters. Me? I went with the Cubs. The lionesses cut us a big piece of meat from it and we all dug in. Taavi stuff his mouth and so did I.

"Ah, such goodness!" Said Taavi, mouth full of meat.

After I chewed and swallow, I laugh shaking my head. Taavi loves food. He doesn't have a favorite.

"Don't eat all of the meat, Taavi!" Said a girl cub, who's struggling to get a bite.

Taavi took a step back letting her eat. I did the same a few minutes after feeling full. I laid down with my head over my paws. My food needs to digest. Taavi laid down beside me in the same position so his food could digest too.

"Man, I'm stuffed!" He said.

I blink my eyes slow feeling sleepy. "Me too. This is a good time for a nap!"

"Not so fast, Jengo!"

I look up seeing my mommy stand in front of us.

"Bath time!" She said.

Taavi sat up laughing. "Haha!"

A lioness walked up and stood beside my mom. "You too Taavi!"

Me and Taavi loudly groaned. There's no way getting out of this. We both got up and follow our mothers to the den. Bath here I come!

* Zaina's POV*

"Mommy, please not the hair tuft!" The cub whined.

Princess Amaya is bathing her son. My mommy is asleep. I'm laying on her back.

"Hold still Jengo, we're almost done. Just a few more licks on the hair tuft!" Said Princess Amaya.

Bingo, I think the cub name is, had hop out of his mother's arms. Apparently she didn't tighten her grip so he got away. He ran outside the den. Princess Amaya shook her head. I turn my head at the other boy cub who's getting his bath by his mother too. He doesn't have a hair tuft like Bingo, but he seems to like baths.

"Make sure you get between the ears mommy!" Said the cub smiling.

His mom chuckled, "I will. I told you taking baths isn't so bad, Taavi!"

Oh yeah, I remember him. He's always the cub eating all of the food. Taavi never gets tired of hunger and seems to like all prey. It's funny because he doesn't get fat either. Today he almost ate all of the zebra meat the lionesses gave us. I tried getting some, but Taavi kept eating on my side. So, I told him don't eat all of it. He stopped and let me have the rest. Bingo I think was there too!

Speaking of Bingo, he hasn't come back yet. I wonder where he gone to. Probably somewhere far so Princess Amaya won't finish grooming him. I climb down my mommy's back and walk out the den to go find Bingo. I searched through the plains, next to the river, and a few trees.

"Where is that cub?"

I sat down underneath a shady tree. It sure got hot out here! Two leaves had fallen from the tree above. One land on my nose. I sneeze and look up. On a branch lays Bingo. What is he doing up there? Lions don't climb or hang in trees. That's what leopards are made for.

"Hi!" I greeted.

Bingo looked down. "Oh, hey."

"What are you doing up there? Lions don't climb trees."

"I learned it from my mommy. It's normal for us."

"Oh. I tried climbing a tree only once and failed." I said.

Bingo chuckled. "All it takes is practice. What's your name by the way? You're the girl cub me and my best friend Taavi saw at lunch."

"My name is Zaina. Yours is Bingo, right?"

"Bingo? No. My name is Jengo!"

I cover my mouth and giggled. "Oops, my bad!"

Jengo hopped down from the tree branch. He walk up to me and sat. "It's alright."

"I know you're Princess Amaya's son. She's so pretty like Queen Milia!"

"Thank you."

Me and Jengo talked for awhile then played a nice game of tag. He seems very friendly and fun. Maybe we can become friends.
