Hunting Lessons
*Jengo's POV*
Sky Leaf Pride, Next Day, Early Morning...
I race out the den with my best friend Taavi behind me. Today is our first day hunting. We get to try and learn it from the pride's master. His name is "Haku". He doesn't hunt for the pride though. But he helps train the lionesses and a very few males. It's really the lionesses who does all the hunting. My grandfather King James forced me to learn. I didn't want to try alone, so I brought Taavi with me.
"Im so excited about hunting today! Aren't you Jengo?" Said Taavi, full of energy.
We're walking to the wide open field.
I nod. "Yeah."
The wind start to blow. My over grown brown hair tuft covered my hazel eyes. I couldn't see anything and bump into someone.
"Oops, sorry Taavi!"
Taavi laughed. "That's not me. I'm over here dude next to you!"
Then who did I bump? I took my paw moving my hair tuft from off of my eyes. In front of me stood Zaina. Man, she grew up beautiful! We're all teens now if you didn't know.
"Hey, Jengo!" She smiled.
I smile back shyly and stuttered. "H-Hey, Z-Zaina."
Another teen lioness approach the scene and stood close beside Zaina. She has a furry hair tuft (Author's Note: Think of Vitani's hair tuft or Tama's. Her hair is like that! :D). It covers half of her golden color eyes. I heard Taavi gulp loudly next to me. I smirk and chuckled. Someone is crushing bad!
"So, what are you two doing here?" Asked Zaina.
"We're here to hunt with Master Haku. What about you girls?" I reply.
"The same."
The hair tuft lioness giggled. "I didn't know we need male lions to hunt for the pride too."
I fake laughed. "No, my grandfather King James forced me. I'm not joining the hunting party don't worry."
Taavi nodded. "Yeah, that's a girl's job. You hunt for us!"
The lioness step up to Taavi, bumping her light pink nose on his black one. "Correction, we're not maids."
I stood quickly between them, breaking things up. "No need to argue you guys."
Taavi chuckle stepping back. "Hey, I didn't do anything. She got all defensive on me!"
The lioness rolled her eyes. A big, tall, muscular male lion came up to us. It's Haku.
"Good morning everyone! I see your all up and ready to start your hunt training." He greet.
Zaina nodded. "Yes, sir!"
"Very well, let's begin shall we?"
"Yes, we shall!" Said the lioness, looking at Taavi with a small frown. She then walked off following behind Zaina.
Taavi ignored her. We walk behind them. Haku led us to a herd of Gazelles. They're all busy eating on the soft green grass.
"I will teach you all one by one. Who wants to go first?" Haku asked, sitting.
Zaina raise up her paw first. "Me!"
"Ah yes, Zaina. I heard so much about you from your mother yesterday. She said you have excellent skills! Do you mind showing me some?"
"Sure!"
Me, Taavi, and the lioness with the furry hair tuft, sat down watching Zaina hunt.

*Zaina's POV*
This is my time to shine and show everyone how I hunt. I remember everything what my mother had taught me when I was a cub.
Step 1: "Stay low on the ground."
Step 2: "Feel the earth underneath your paws."
Step 3: "Eye your target."
Step 4: "Run."
My eyes lock on a female gazelle. She's with her baby. I feel bad since I'm about kill its mother. But it's all about the circle of life. I got down low, walking close. The mother gazelle is eating on the grass while her baby is suckling on milk. I made a growl and jump out with surprise. The herd took off with speed. I ran after following the mother gazelle.
"Come on, Zaina. You can do it!" Cheered Jengo.
I look back smiling at him, then turn away roaring at the mother gazelle. Her, the baby, and the herd split up. Now I got her alone. I pounce on top of her back biting down strongly on the neck. The gazelle trip and fell. I fallen too, but my claws still held on. After rolling around which seem like a thousand times, I land on my side covered in dirt. The gazelle is on her back struggling to get up. I quickly made the kill and got up.
Haku, Jengo, Taavi, and Kaisa ran up with smiles.
"That was awesome!" Said Taavi.
Kaisa hugged me. "My best friend got good skills!"
Haku nodded. "Indeed. I'm very impressed! You may eat your prize, Zaina."
"I want to go next!" Said Jengo, raising his paw.
"Alright, you three come follow me. Let's leave Zaina alone to eat her breakfast." Said Haku, walking off.
I laid down and start eating my winning gazelle. My mother's hunting steps really worked. I now see why she's the lead huntress of the hunting party!

Me, Haku, and "Kaisa" I think the lioness with the hair tuft name is, watch Jengo hunt. His prey is Buffalo. Less easy and different than Zaina's prey which was a Thompson Gazelle. But I know my bro got this. I start cheering him. He target a male Buffalo. Now this is about to get hard for real.
Haku picked this prey on purpose just to see how strong Jengo is. Well, he's not. We watch him run off being chased by the angry male Buffalo. Those sharp horns are what you need to look out for. Jengo quickly climbed up a tree and hiss down at the Buffalo. Good thing Jengo knows how to climb trees. His mother taught him when he was a cub.
The Buffalo stop hitting his head and horn against the tree. He walked away returning back to his herd near the river. Jengo jump down from the tree. Me, Haku, and Kaisa walk up.
Haku shook his head. "You need more confidence, bravery, and practice Prince Jengo!"
Jengo stared down at his paws sadly. "Okay..."
"Who wants to go next?"
Me and Kaisa looked at each other.
"How about we work together?" I ask, Haku.
Kaisa's gold eyes grew wide. "Say what?!"
Haku smiled. "Actually Taavi, that's a great idea! It'll show me if you guys are good working in teams or not."
Kaisa groan while I laugh. Haku picked our prey. It's a lonesome Zebra that's standing underneath a tree kicking it's black hooves in the sand.
I snort. "Easy."
I crouch down walking up to it first. Kaisa joined me on my side crawling on her belly. I lift a brow.
"What are you doing, Kaisa?" I whispered.
"I'm hunting this on my own." She whispered back.
"Um, I could of sworn Haku told us we're working as a team. There's no I in team."
"Well, it is now!"
I frown. Kaisa crawled in front of me staring straight ahead at the target. She growled and was about to pounce until I jump first. The Zebra saw me and ran. I went after it zooming like the wind. My paws are pounding hard on the ground.
"Taavi, you idiot!" Kaisa yelled.
I turn my head around. Kaisa is running behind me. Two can play this game. I'll show Kaisa that I don't need her help either!
