Betrothed
*Sarabi's POV*
At the Shimmer Pride...
I'm laying down snoozing on a warm rock. Something tap my head.
I open my eyes, "What? Huh?"
It's Sarafina and she's smiling big. For what though? I sat fully up with a yawn.
"Sarabi, I have some good news to tell you!" She said, with excitement in her tone.
"Which is?"
"Your betrothed to Prince Mufasa!"
My eyes grew wide. I sat frozen still on the rock. Sarafina wave her paw in my face.
I shook my head returning back to reality. "H-how did you find out?"
Sarafina sat down on the soft green grass with a smile. "Okay, so while you were sleeping, Zazu came here with a message from the King and Queen. They've been watching you with Mufasa. They think you're the one to be the next Queen of Pride Rock Sarabi!"
"Queen?! I can't be Queen, Sarafina."
"And why not?"
I look down moving my tail side to side. "I don't know anything about royality..."
Sarafina head bud me. "I'm sure Queen Uru will give you lessons."
"I know that. I mean, do you think Mufasa would like me to be his Queen? What if he thinks im not good enough for him??"
"Sarabi, you are perfect. Your beautiful, smart, and wise to others. The Pride Landers will love you! This is no mistake. King Ahadi and Queen Uru have pick the right lioness."
I got up giving Sarafina a hug. "Thank you Saffy. Your such a great friend!"
She hug me back. We release from each other and turn our heads hearing the sound of walking paws come close. Its my gorgeous mother. She greets me with a lick on the cheek. I nuzzle her purring.
"Hello mother!"
She smiles, "I'm guessing Sarafina here already told you the news."
I smirk at Sarafina nodding. "Yes, she did. She's more excited than I am."
Sarafina laughs.
"You'll begin your Queen lessons with Queen Uru tomorrow morning." Said my mother.
I nod. My mother walks off joining the pride lionesses. Sarafina stayed with me. I climb back on my rock and laid down. I rest my head on my paws thinking.
Wow, I'm the next Queen of the Pride Lands...

*Sarafina's POV*
After chatting some more with Sarabi, I got up and went to go practice my hunt. Let's just say I'm not so hot in hunting. I'm too clumsy! Every since I was a cub I seem to not walk so smooth. I'm always falling or tripping over something. Sometimes I even trip over my paws! Crazy? I know.
I'm still a teenager. I have little time left before I become an adult. I must approve my hunts fast. Since my best friend has now join the royalty world, the only thing I can do is try to join the hunting party. But who would want a clumsy girl like me on their team? I'll mess up the hunt.
It's no use.
I let out a sad sigh. My ears fall flat. I stare down at my two front paws.
"Sarafina?" A deep voice called.
My right ear twitch.
"Sarafina, is that you?"
I turn my body half way around. A teen male lion walks up. His fur is creamy colored with eyes that are blue-green. I made a half smile.
"Oh hey, Makaio!"
Makaio is a member of the pride and also my friend. He plops down next to me smiling. "So, what you been up to on this fine lovely day?"
I took my apple-green eyes off him staring back down at my colorless paws. "Debating if I should practice my hunts or not. What about you?"
"Oh you know, same old stuff. Wrestle with the guys, impress and chat with the ladies."
"Did any of them show interest?"
"Yup! I let them feel on my muscles." He said, while puffing out his chest.
I met my eyes with his blue- green ones and smirked. "What muscles?"
"These!"
Makaio stood up flexing his arms, legs, and back. I know Makaio has muscles. I just that like to tease him sometimes. Why? I don't know, it's funny!
I clap my paws and laughed. "Okay Makaio, that's enough."
He sat back down. "Told ya, Sarafina!"
The wind blew a nice cool breeze. A scent went underneath my nose. It smells like prey.
"Do you smell that?" I ask.
Makaio sniff the air. "Yeah."
We both look straight ahead. A herd of antelopes are gazing on grass. This is my chance if I want to hunt and join the hunting party.
"Food!" Makaio says happily, pointing his paw at the antelopes.
I crouch low my belly touching the ground. Makaio did the same too so he won't be seen and scare them off. Believe me, I would be upset if he did.
"Are you hunting, Sarafina?" Makaio whispers.
I nod, "Yes, Makaio. I must bring home an antelope. The hunting party have to let me join. If the pride see's me bring home an adult antelope, they'll want me to become a full time huntress!"
"I'll stay behind and watch then."
I nod again and crawl forward leaving Makaio. I'm very close to this female antelope. She's easier to catch than a taller male who has horns. My fur blends nicely in the grass.
1...2...3...
I jump out with teeth and fangs. A loud roar escape from my mouth. The antelopes run away.
"Oh no you guys don't!" I frown.
I sprint off running behind my target female.
"Come on Sarafina, you can do this!" Makaio cheered.
Once I got close to the female antelope, I was ready to pounce. But being clumsy I trip over my paws and fell in to the dirt. The antelopes got away freely again.
"Oh my gosh, Sarafina!"
Makaio race to my aid quick and help me up. I stand up shaking dirt off my light furry body. I stomp my paw.
"Dang it! I almost had that antelope." I growl.
"You were still great."
"No I wasn't."
Makaio nodded. "Uh, yes you were."
I frown at him. "Try hunting with clumsy paws and see how far it gets you Makaio! I'll be the only teenager in the pride who doesn't get to hunt. I completely suck! The hunting party will never chose me on their team. Just forget it..."
Makaio head bud me. "You don't suck."
"Yes I do, just admit it already. It's okay I can handle the truth!"
"Gosh Sarafina your not the only one who isn't good in hunting!"
I growl a bit more loud feeling irritated. "Then who else Makaio?!"
"Me!" He yelled.
I stop growling. My face is fill with complete shock.
"Makaio...I-I'm sorry."
Makaio half smiled. "It's okay."
"I thought you passed your hunts?"
"Nope, I lied to lions."
I squint my eyes. "How come?"
Makaio looks down. "So, I can fit in crowds..."
"Oh, Makaio."
I gave him a hug. He wraps his arm around me. I lay my head against his chest. We then release.
"Who needs hunting any way, right?" I say smiling.
Makaio nods. "Right!"
"Let's go back home. Sarabi is probably wondering where I am."
"Sarabi? I remember when I was going to ask her out today."
My eyes grew wide. We both start walking up a path that leads home. "Really?"
He nods with a chuckle at my surprise expression. "Yes. But now since she's betrothed to the Pride Lands Prince, there's no use. I'm going to be lonely forever!"
I hit my tail on Makaio's side rolling my green-Apple eyes. "Oh shut up, you'll find someone."
"Like who?"
"I don't know. Do I look like a god to you? When the time comes, you'll know. I'm sure there's another gorgeous lioness out there. Now stop whining like a cub and man up!"
Makaio laughs. "Okay. Gees, you sound so much like my mom!"
I pause in my steps and look at him. "Is that a good thing?"
"Yes. Now come on!"
Makaio races off to the pride. I run after him.
