Another Journey
A/N: The lioness above issssss....*Drum Roll* Zawadi!!!Surprise! 🎉☺️. I told you guys i will be bringing back some old characters of mines and I know how much you love Zawadi. She is like the most popular out of all my characters with Makosa becoming second and Kopa third (Even though Kopa is Disney's character not mines)😂.
The male lion in the photo is her son Heru if you remember back in book 2, "The Lion King 2: Past Events"😁. To recap your memory, Zawadi was forced to have a cub by a lion named "Ashur". Their relationship had ended very short when she had left the Pride to enjoy her life and freedom. She had a choice to either stay with her son (who was a cub at that time) in a dark reign, or live some place else.
After years of being a rouge, she'd found a pride and it turns out to be her son's. They've reunited beautifully and Heru has accepted his mother's reasoning on why she had left him behind. He also explained why he had left himself. But before Zawadi had met up with her son, she also reunited with her old best friend Mheetu. They encountered after she rescued Makosa and Bahiya away from hyenas when they were younger cubs.
Now in this book, we are going to fast forward a bit of time to see where the two are now in their lives ☺️. If you want more information about Zawadi, Heru, and Mheetu, go back and re-read "The Lion King 2: Past Events" on Zawadi's storyline.
You may now read and enjoy chapter 10!

•••••••••••••
Zawadi
The white fluffy clouds were drifting lazily across the light blue sky. It is still afternoon. It's been a lazy day for everyone, not just for the clouds. The Pride decided to nap the whole day away. We were all laying down on large grey rocks. Some lions were either sunbathing like me, gossiping, or napping.
The hunting party have already hunt lunch. We feasted on hippo. Something very different and had made us lucky. It is complicated to take down a hippo on your own unless you have about 6 lions to help. Either way, it takes a while to bring down one. Especially if it is a male! A male hippopotamus will never give up without a fight with his powerful jaws, big teeth, and amazing speed in water.
I bet you are wondering what land and Pride am I from? Great question! This is my son "Heru's" Pride. His pride is called, "The Chewa Pride." I bet you are wondering what does the word "Chewa" mean? It means strong tribe in Southern Africa. It is pronounced, "Cheh-wah".
I first came here years ago. I had no idea my son has his own pride. I thought he was back at the other dark, evil Pride where Mansa, his father Ashur, and I were from. Surprisingly after talking and catching up, Heru told me that he had escaped when he reached teen-hood. All those years he survived. My prayers must really have worked!
I still feel guilty till this day for leaving him behind when the Queen had gave me my freedom. I could have came back and snuck him out. I apologized and cried so many times to Heru. He understood and never blamed me for my actions. He knew what I had to do was right and that was to keep him alive. Heru told me Ashur has done a great job keeping him safe. He was the one that helped him escape the Pride secretly.
I was stunned because Ashur had behaved just like the dark Queen. Anyway, i was grateful to be a part of my son's life again and to able to join his pride. He didn't have to. He could have rejected me if he wanted. But Heru really wanted a good, bonded relationship and suggest that we'd start over. I like the idea very much.
After joining the Pride, I've found out that my son is married and have children of his own. His wife, "Tish" (which means "a strong will or power" in Swahili.) had welcomed me with open paws. She is very sweet, generous, and friendly. They have two children, both females "Bia" (which means god is perfection in Swahili) and "Hanaa" (which means blossom in Swahili). Both are gorgeous girls. When i first joined the Pride, they were just small playful cubs. Now they are both grown into young adults.
I am proud to be a mother, mother-in law, and a grandmother. It's nice to have a family again. I still think about my birth Pride where my parents and sister live. My sister Ama is probably still with Kibwe and their children I am sure are also grown at this time period. I have not seen them since i left after finding out she married Kibwe, my old crush.
That's in the past now. I am still a single lioness and I don't plan on having a mate or children again either. I am starting to age and my chance of having cubs are very little. But that's alright! I am very blessed to have watched my son Heru become leader of his pride and to spend every moment with my granddaughters.
Now, i just relax and enjoy each day until the heavens call for me to go. But before I leave this earth, I do plan on to visit my old best friend Mheetu. I haven't seen him in years. The last time we've reunited was when I've saved two cubs from almost being killed by hyenas. Mheetu told me that one of them was his nephew. I was very surprised.
I think about Mheetu all the time. The times we used to play around and told each other funny jokes when we were younger. We were very close then. Now, i guess we just grew up and enjoyed each other's lives more separately. I've learned that he has a family now. That's what he had told em himself. I was proud, he truly deserves it after all he has been through!
He also told me that the pride he lives in now is his birth Pride. I was absolutely stunned. Like oh my gosh, that place is beautiful! The land is so rich and taken care of. So much life lives there. Mheetu is one lucky lion. I remember he did offer to talk to the King to ask if I can stay there. But i couldn't. My quest was to search for my son. Mheetu understood and wished me luck in my journey. That was the last time we've spoken and seen each other.
Like i said, i do plan to go back. We have a lot of catching up to discuss. I'm sure my son Heru wouldn't mind if I'd left for a while. Trust me, the journey isn't close at all. It would take me weeks to reach to Mheetu's Pride from mines. But that's okay! It's worth the travel.
"Good afternoon mother!" A deep voice greets.
I raise my head up from off my front paws and see my son Heru coming forward with a smile. We bump foreheads as a sign of greetings and then he joins me laying on the same exact rock.
"Good afternoon, Heru! How did your patrol go?" I asked.
He nodded. "It was alright. No sign of trespassing lions which is good."
Our pride doesn't get much of any trouble here. We use to have male lions trying to force themselves on the land, but that was about it. We don't have hyenas in this area luckily. They've moved out years ago.
"That is good. Heru, I have been thinking..."
"Thinking about what?"
I met my eyes with his dark blue ones. "I want to go on a trip."
Heru raised his thick brow. "A trip to where mother?"
"To visit a friend. He's far from here, but it's okay! I've made the travel before."
"Who is this friend and where to?"
I chuckle. My son can be very protective. It makes sense, I am his mother. "His name is Mheetu. You don't know him. In fact, you weren't even born. I would love for you to meet him one day though. He is from the Pride Lands."
Heru gasps and smiled. "The Pride Lands?! I've been there before."
"Wait, you have? When was this? You've never told me that."
"You know when Tish and I normally leave the pride to go to meetings with other Pride leaders? Well, I've met the King of the Pride Lands once or twice. We'd had one of our important meetings there. The King and Queen there are both kind and welcoming."
I smile surprised. "Wow, i did not know that. You should have told me!"
Heru laughed. "Well, I didn't know until now."
"Do you mind coming with me?"
"Sure. But who will watch the Pride while I'm gone?"
That is a good question. I look down at my paws thinking.
"Hmmm, what about Tish? You think she can handle watching the pride on her own?"
Heru nodded. "Of course! She had done it many times before. I'm sure she wouldn't mind."
"Great."
"So, when do we leave?"
"I wasn't planning on going right away. But soon, soon we will go."
Heru smiled again. "Okay. Wow, this is exciting! I will be traveling with my mother for the first time. I also know a faster way to get to the Pride Lands too."
I giggle. "Perfect!"
Heru and I continued talking while laying on the rocks. As you can see, we have a very close bond. You can call him a "mamas boy" all you want.
A love between mother and son is unbreakable...
