The Dream
Kovu
Later on that day it became dark. The beautiful stars are now out with a surprising full moon. All the lions climb up Pride Rock on their way to bed. I follow behind Kiara inside the cave to our usual sleeping spot.
"Good night." She whispers, then licks my left cheek.
I purr, nuzzling her in return. "Good night, Kiara."
I so cannot wait for the day when I make her my official wife ❤️.
I close my green eyes falling into a deep slumber.
Kovu....
Kovu......
KOVU!!!
"What? Huh??"
Hello son! It's been so long....
"Wait. Son?"
Yes. My son! You don't remember? I am your mother....
"Mother? Zira! W-What are you doing here alive?? Your'e dead!"
Ouch! That hurts. I was expecting to hear a "Mother I missed you" or something.
"I thought you drowned?"
I did. I am not alive. But my spirit still is. I've come to visit you in your dreams.
"Well get out of them and let me sleep!"
Ah, ah, ah. That's no polite way to speak to your mother! Why so much anger and rudeness? All I ever did was love and care for you to grow up as the handsome adult lion that you are now. This is what I get in return??
"Mother you may have raised me, but you also gave my life hell."
Hell? I disagree!
"All you ever cared about was your deceased husband Scar. You wanted what was best for you and him. Not Nuka, Vitani, or me. You barley gave us any attention growing up! We played with ourselves. In fact, I barley played with other Cubs because I was so busy training with you to become a killer."
That is so un-true! How dare you say those false things about me.
"I should have ran away from the Outlands a long time ago thinking I was doing things right with you. You had my head filled up with so many lies..."
Lies? What lies!
"Oh come on Zira. Let's not play dumb here! When I was a cub, you told me bad evil lies about Simba and his family. He never killed Scar. The hyenas and fire is what took him out."
Oh so you believe him over your own mother?! I see they've gotten inside your head too much.
"No mother, you've gotten in my head too much. What Simba told me was the dead truth. It was sad to have to find out from someone else though. But I'm over it. I'm happy living here in the Pride Lands. I've started a new chapter in my life with a fiancé and a un-born cub. I won't let you take those things away from me!"
Blah blah blah! Go ahead and believe that Simba. You're still a traitor anyways. You've betrayed our pride!
"You're pride, not mines. I doubt it if I'm even you're son!"
Zira gasps. Of course you're my son! How dare you say that!!
"It's probably some other things you've kept from me too that I still don't even know yet. But whatever. Just go back where you came from. I'm not about to go back to hell with you again. I like my life now the way it is."
Very harsh Kovu. I don't like this new attitude of yours! It's that Princess isn't it? She's changed you.
"Kiara? Yeah she's changed me alright. She's changed me to a better lion. A lion who knows how to love. Something you clearly don't understand."
Zira didn't say anything else.
"Goodbye mother..."
Fine. I'll leave you alone. I see where we now stand. Just remember where you had originally came from Kovu...
With that, mother's voice was gone meaning she was finally gone out of my dream.
I snap open my green eyes. It's now morning. I feel dizzy so I got up and went outside to get some fresh air. I shake out my mane then look down at my front paws.
"I must let go of the past. I will never go back to who I use to be..." I say to myself. "This is a fresh start. A whole new Kovu! I'm about to be a husband soon and a father. I can do this. I won't let my mother get to me again..."
"Kovu?" A voice calls.
It's Kiara. Why is she up so early?
"Hey, why you up so early?" I ask, now sitting.
She chuckle a little sitting beside me. "I tend to ask the same thing. What's wrong? You had a bad dream or something??"
"No, I'm cool! Just out here having thoughts."
"Thoughts about?"
I look at her then the bright colorful morning sky. Birds fly above us. "You know, our future. We're not little Cubs anymore Kiara. We're adults now. Like real adults who are about be married and have a cub. Then next we'll be the new King and Queen! It's like reality just smack me in the face..."
She nods. "I know. It's all happening so fast..."
"I just want things to be okay."
"And they will be."
Kiara put her small paw on top of my larger one. She smiles, "We always have each other's backs. We're a team Kovu! Nothing won't ever go down."
I smile back and lick her nose. "You're right and that's why I love you Kiara. You always stay positive!"
Kiara giggles then rub her head underneath my chin purring.
"Alright, break it up love birds!"
We both turn our heads behind us seeing Timon and Pumbaa walk forward. I grin at them.
"Good morning Timon and Pumbaa!" Kiara greets.
"Morning Princess!" Pumbaa smiles.
Timon jumps off his back. "Today you're parents want you to start wedding planning. Kiara you will get to pick your own set of planners. Kovu you will be with me, Pumbaa and Simba doing you know, the guy stuff."
"Sounds cool!" I nod, agreeing.
"Well, we all know my only planners will be Tiifu, Zuri, and Vitani." Said Kiara
"Great!" Said Timon. "I'll be back to go inform Simba."
Kiara and I both nod. Timon and Pumbaa now left.
"This is going to be fun!" Kiara beams.
I laugh. "Yeah!"
We both nuzzle.
