~Chapter 7~
It was so weird for the mother and son being reunited after so long.
There was slience between the two lions, as they didn't know what to say to each other because of their dark history.
Finally, it took a lot of courage for the King of the Pridelands to finally spoke up to the person that he never thought see again.
"So... you gave birth to Afua, that means that she's my little sister in a way, considering I was adopted?" Kovu asks her.
"Afua was born a few months after Jata and I settled down and became mates. Atiena was very amazed of how I was able to have a cub for a lioness on my age, she said that Afua was a miracle, to the Nightfall Pride." Zira said, as they were looking at the distance view of the Outlands, their former home.
"I still regret of what I put you, Nuka and Vitani through growing up. It's just that I didn't to admit any help of raising all three of you on my own, and I also have anger issues with Simba back then, because of how he exiled us from being Pridelanders who followed Scar and his beliefs. "
Hearing Zira admitted the hurtful pains of the past, shocked Kovu as he remembers all the unbearable and brutal training he had in his childhood, to be raised in total hatred in order to get revenge on Simba and the rest of the Pridelanders.
But in that moment when he reunited with Kiara and spending time with her, his whole world changed for the better for both prides.
"You know, mother, Vitani still have nightmare of the day Nuka died. It traumatizes her every night ever since we joined Simba and the other Pridelanders." Kovu said to his mother, as the young lioness seem to be shocked of her daughter's condition.
"Really? She still have that trauma for three years? I felt ashamed." Zira said, turning her head away in total sadness.
"C'mon, it's not like you to be sad, it's all water under the bridge. I forgive you ." Kovu said, as the lioness was amazed of her son.
The black lion smiles at his mother as they embrace each other for the first time in three years.
As the lions were silent on their embrace, there was someone watching them silently as possible.
The lion was upset of this new counter as he was walking away from the talk between mother and son.
That night, the leaders of both prides finally meet.
Atiena bows in total respect to the royal family, "It's an honor to meet you, King Simba and Queen Nala. I'm Atiena, leader of the Nightfall Pride."
"It's a pleasure that you and your pride make it to the Pridelands safely. It must've been a long trip for them."
"It was nothing that we can't handle, your grace." Atiena said, as Nala said, "You don't need the formalities, Atiena. You can call us by our names. Besides, Simba and I aren't the King and Queen of the Pridelands anymore. Our daughter , Kiara is the Queen now, along with her mate, Kovu."
Atiena looks at the young lions as they were talking to Zira and her family.
"Zira was a bit of shy lioness when she came to us. Didn't even spoke to me about her past, or she has family. But then Jata opens up to her and they fell in love . " Atiena said.
"Wow. I guess that having courage is a big challenge for Zira and her cub." Nala said, as the Nightfall Pride leader chuckles, "Yes, I think that too."
Vitani still couldn't believe that her mother was back from the dead, and what surprises her the most, that her mother has made a new family, being in a new pride that she never heard before.
It was too overwhelming for the young lioness as she went away from Pride Rock , to be alone .
Vitani thought in her mind, "Can it be really be happening? That my mom fully understand the Circle of life?"
As she was lost in total thought, someone said, "You feeling ok, Vitani?"
The lioness turned around to see it was no other than Kion, as the red lion approach to her.
"I'm sorry, Kion. It's just I needed to get away for a while. " She said to her mate, as he smiles a bit.
"Is it about the sudden appearance of your mother and finding out about Afua? I was shocked too, and I never thought it was impossible that Zira would actually changed.
But then, something changed my mind."
The lioness was curious about what the lion meant by his words.
"I met Kovu again, and he showed me that once you were evil, there's always hope in the Circle of life. And I experience a lot of things I never thought happen to me before.
I am glad that I decided to come back to the Pridelands. " Kion said.
"Well, this isn't a surprise. The Lion Guard leader has grown up."
Both lions turned around to see a leopard, as he approaches them, Kion said, "No way. Makucha!"
"Kion?" Vitani asks nervously.
"You have to run, Vitani. I'll handle him on my own. Go!"
The lioness runs as the leopard and lion begin to strike one other . Vitani ran up to Pride Rock where she pants.
Kovu sees his sister in total distress as Kiara said, "Vitani, what's wrong?"
Vitani took a deep breath before she can speak.
"It's Kion. He's fighting against this leopard named Makucha. "
Beshte said, "Poa! Kion's fighting him alone?"
Ono said, "That's never a good sign. Makucha is a bad Pridelander and he hates us, more than we can count. "
Fuli was nowhere to be seen, as the cheetah rushes to aid the leader of the Lion Guard.
Makucha and Kion were continuing their fight, as the cheetah arrives.
"Kion!" Fuli said, as the lion and leopard stops to see the cheetah.
"Fuli?" Kion asks in shock, as the cheetah couldn't bear of it any longer.
"Huwezi! " The cheetah said, knocking the leopard off of the young red lion.
Kion run towards his friend, "Fuli, what you doing here?"
"Vitani told us that you were in trouble, so here I am." The cheetah replied to him, as his eyes widen of the response.
Makucha was mad of the cheetah of ruining his chance to kill the young lion as he pounces on the cheetah head-on, as both of them were tumbling down onto the cliff nearby!
"Hevi Kabisa! Fuli, hang on!" Kion yells as the rest of the Lion Guard saw Fuli hanging into a little hillside.
Vitani said, jumping into action, "Fuli, hang on!"
Kion said, "Wait, Vitani, it's too dangerous!"
Vitani didn't listen as Kiara said, "Geez, she reminds me of me when I went to the Outlands . "
Kovu chuckles at his mate, "Some habits get passed on, I guess. "
Afua looks at her aunt, "Is Auntie Vitani going to save Fuli, Uncle Kovu?"
Kovu bends down to the young cub, reassuring her, "She is, and you can call me Kovu. It's simpler that way.
Vitani makes it as Fuli was struggling to hang on.
"Fuli, gave me your paw, now!" Vitani said, as the Cheetah was pulled up as both of them makes up to rejoin the others.
"Fuli, you ok?" Kiara asks, worried about her friend.
"Just a little bit bruised, but I'll be fine." The cheetah reassures the queen, as Kion walks up to Vitani as he said, "That was really reckless, Vitani. You should've been more careful."
Vitani said, "Kion, you don't have to worry about me. I'm fine."
Kiara sees how her brother was concerned about her. That night she decided to head to Rafiki's tree.
"Awe, Kiara. What is it?" The baboon asks.
"I want to ask you something, Rafiki. It's about Kion and Vitani. "
