(I know some of you may be aware I'm making a book called "The Lightning In The Night", so just so we're clear: This will be a series, this doesn't focus on Static's history, that's his book. So whatever happened in that book didn't happen here. This is a series, as shown in the top right of the cover of this book. Morning came and Cal woke up early for some reason. He went over to his bathroom to take a shower and brush his teeth. He looks himself in the mirror after changing into his school clothes.

(These are the school clothes and Cal has a scar on his right eye and his hair is black. His right eye is blue and his left is brown. The female uniform is just like a school uniform with those same colors.)

Cal: "I'm already up and dressed...might as well just head to school. It may be past curfew, but eh I'm bored."

Cal eats something small for breakfast and texts his mom that he left for school early. It was a bit dark outside.

Cal: "I bet the others are still asleep." Cal Chuckles.

He heard something snap behind him and turned around and saw nothing. He shrugs as he continued forward. Then he heard scratching noises against the trees in the forest nearby. He looked to find out what it was. A bear then came charging at him with its claws at the ready, but Cal dodged its attack and jumped back. This bear wasn't any other bear, it seemed corrupted and evil.

Cal: "So you're an Malfested Bear eh?"

(Malfested are corrupted and evil creatures)

It roars and goes to attack Cal again before getting hit by knife at lightning speed. Cal turned around a saw a figure run up with several knives.

???: "Get down!" He said with some sort of voice changer that sounded deep.

Cal ducks and the man in mask throws several yellow lightning knives at the bear and killed it. Upon death, the bear slowly turned to dust, as all Malfested creatures do.

???: "You're welcome."

Cal: "Thanks for your help. Let me guess, you're Static aren't you? The so called, 'Lightning in the Night?" Cal crosses his arms.

Static: "Oh? You a fan?" He chuckles.

Cal: "I don't agree with your methods. I know what you really do. The bodies, the damage you do to them, all for the sake of humanity?"

Static: "Look kid, this world isn't all sunshine and rainbows. I'm actually doing something to make sure criminals get what they deserve, even if that means I have to become one myself."

Cal: "You can't just give up on the good some people can do yet. There's still hope."

Static: "Save it, I've got a job to do. You can try to stop me, but you're still just a Kid."

Static then threw a knife and grappled away on the roof and disappeared.

Cal: "I may be just a kid...but I've got a heart to share." He says Determinedly.

Cal continues to walk towards school as the sun rose up. He waited for the others to get there so he sat on a tree and slept for a bit. Cal woke up after being hit with a rock to the forehead thrown by Andrew.

Andrew: "You awake now?"

Jay: "Throw another one just in case." Jay joked.

Andrew threw another rock, but Cal caught it.

Cal: "Can you not?"

Andrew: "Yep, he's awake." He smirks.

Katelynn and Sky wave at Cal.

Katelynn: "Morning Cal!" She smiles.

Sky: "Had a nice nap? I could use one right now." She yawns.

Cal: "Yeah it was nice, while it lasted." Cal said as he dropped the rock in his hand.

Helena turned to Jay and wrote in her notebook, 'Did you sleep well Jay?"

Jay: "Uh, yeah I did. T-Thanks for asking, heh heh. You?"Jay says as he blushed while rubbing his neck.

She nods while blushing.

Cal: "Alright now, let's head to class." He says as he drops down from the tree. They all head to their classes. Cal was in History class as she was explaining how the monsters and the Malfested came to be.

Ms. Winters: "The Curse of the Evil Seed. This what we've called it. The Curse of the Evil Seed all started when Humans and Werewolves first started to coexist together and when there were Nekos and cyborgs we're discovered. Anyway, the curse enhances physical abilities among its victims, and can cause its victims to mutate into more powerful stages of being when they experience an intense emotion. It can also cause some victims to gain what appears to be some kind of...immortality. The traits gained gained by the victims are possibly based on their personality and physique. But thanks to the warriors, wizards, and allied Werewolves and Nekos were able to banish the evil seed long ago. Though there are some remnants of Malfested creatures

A male Neko student raised his hand.

Ms. Winters: "Yes Terry?"

Terry: "What's to say the Evil Seed returns? What would happen if it still existed?"

Ms. Winters: "Well we know the facts about the Evil Seed. But should it return, we shall see." She says as she tries to keep up an positive attitude.

The bell rings.

Ms. "That will be all and have a good day!"

Cal exits the class and sees Terry getting grabbed by two humans and drag him to a empty room. Cal walks towards the door, but sees his brother enter inside before him.

Cal: "Kaleb?" He says and raises an eyebrow

Cal goes to investigate inside the room and finds Kaleb beating the two male bullies while Terry was sitting in the corner with a bruised cheek. Cal goes over to Terry.

Cal: "Are you ok?"

Terry nods as he watches Kaleb beat the two bullies brutally even where they're on the ground. He knocks them both out cold. His fists were red as there was some blood.

Kaleb: "You ok?" He says as he turns around and was surprised to see Cal.

Cal: "Kaleb..."

Kaleb: "Hey brother." Kaleb Chuckles.

Cal: "You beat them up pretty badly." He says as he looks at them.

Kaleb sighs.

Kaleb: "Look, there are bad guys and some of them need to know how much they're hurting people. Think of it this way, I'm the bully that bullies the bullies. It may not be right, but it gets the job done."

They look at him and Terry was relieved that someone was fighting bullies and Cal was still remorseful towards them.

Kaleb: "You have a good heart Cal, keep that." Kaleb smiles and leaves.

Cal and look at each other and leave as well.

Cal: "So uh, wanna eat lunch with my friends?"

Terry: "Yeah...that sounds nice right about now." He smiles a bit.

Cal and Terry walk together and meet up with the others and Terry joins the group. They tell the others what happened to them when Terry was being bullied by the humans. When they mentioned Kaleb helping Terry, Sky spit out her drink.

Sky: "Wait, Kaleb?! The yellow dyed hair Kaleb? He helped you?!" She said as if she couldn't believe it.

Cal: "Yeah, he's my brother."

Sky dropped her mouth in surprise.

Cal: "How do you know him?"

Sky: "Let's just say, he got what he deserved...that littlest pervert." She said as she clenched her fist with a scary smile.

Cal sighs and smiles a bit.

Terry: "Yeah, he was the one that saved me. Though he reminds me of someone like the guy on the news."

Andrew: "The guy on the news? What are you talking about?"

Terry: "You don't watch the news? There's a vigilante who hunts criminals and either hurts them real bad...or kills them. I think people call him 'Static' or 'The Lightning In The Night."

Katelynn: "But he's no hero. Killing criminals only breeds more evil." Katelynn blushes upon saying so, like she was nervous.

Jay: "Maybe, but he's got abilities that the police don't got. In all honesty, I don't see why people are afraid of him."

Helena wrote, "It's because he's someone who puts himself above the law and kills without question. It's no wonder why people fear him."

Andrew: "Eh, you're probably right. What do you think Cal?" He asked as he drank his apple juice.

Cal: "All I can say this world is still in need of heroes. No one is above the law, he must only serve justice, or be brought to justice. But maybe there's something more in this Static."

Meanwhile someplace in school...

Kaleb: "It's hard keeping it up like this..."

A voice spoke inside his head.

Inner darkness: "You must keep killing. You want to protect your mother and your brother. You have power, use it to kill the souls of the damned. For your family..."

Kaleb smiles.

Kaleb: "You don't have to tell me, after all..."

Kaleb pulls out a mask (The same mask Static wears).

Static: "I'm The Lightning In The Night."
