Chapter 9:

Thunder clapped loudly as lightning struck visciously.

"Scrooge!" Donald squawked.

"I know! I know! But we're almost there!" His beady eyes shot tiny arrows ahead of him as all that ran through his mind was one duck. One woman that had changed his life forever.

Della duck.

"Scrooge! The cosmic storm! Be careful!" Gyro alerted him, clenching the microphone with great fear for his boss but not just his boss ... his friend.

"I'm no idiot Gyro! I know what I'm doin'!" He shouted through gritted teeth.

Scrooge's eyes focused carefully on the sky above him as it got darker and darker.

"Leaving the atmosphere now!" Gyro yelled, furrowing his eyebrows with utter seriousness.

Fenton clutched his papers close to his chest as his pupils shrunk and watched on in shock. "Steady, steady." He muttered to himself, his fists turning pale.

"Donal' are ye buckled in tight?!" Scrooge asked, eyes still glaring at the sky as the blue turned to grey and the grey turned to black.

Donald squawked loudly, throwing his arms and legs everywhere as he punched the thin air, quickly and desperately buckling his seatbelt in with great panic.

"I'll take that as a yes!" He yelled.

Scrooge shakily but quickly reached for the lever.

"Wait Scrooge! Do~" Fenton tried, but before he knew it Scrooge had already pulled the lever down with immense power.

"Brace yeself!" Scrooge yelled, squinting his eyes.

The rocket shook violently, an explosion bursting from the pit of the rocket, pushing it further towards space.

Bits of metal from the rocket threw themselves off the sides without hesitation.

The rocket flew faster than the speed of light!

"Mr McDuck!" Gyro and Fenton screamed right before the screen and microphone flew to the familiar static state Gyro had witnessed many many years ago as the horrific situation replayed in his mind and, unfortunately, in reality.

"NO!" Fenton and Gyro screamed in unison, tears welling in their eyes as they reached their arms forward, feeling as though they could almost reach their fallen friends.

"SCROOGE!" Donald squawked, clenching his seatbelt for dear life.

"Kinda busy here, lad!" He replied, eyes glued to the buttons that lied in front of him, doing everything he could to keep the rocket steady, he couldn't lose the other twin, they used to be the adventuring trio, unfortunately reduced to an adventuring duo. He wouldn't be able to live with himself if something happened to his beloved nephew as well.

"THE MOON!" He yelled, eyes growing wide and pupils shrinking to the size of peas.

Scrooge finally focused on the moon in front of him growing closer and closer until finally it struck them. Punching them hard in every part of the body. It was as if shape spikes were erupting from the inside of the rocket, trapping them inside.

The rocket scraped the bottom of the moons surface, finally coming to a stop in front of a very frightened Della and a very threatening Lunaris.

"DONALD! UNCLE SCROOGE!" Della screamed, reaching her arms towards the fallen rocket as tears sprung from her eyes.

Smoke emerged from the bottom of the rocket and Scrooge and Donald were left half-unconscious in the smoke filled dump heap.

"LET GO OF ME! I HAVE TO HELP THEM!" She yelled, using all her love and worry for her family.

"I don't think so." Lunaris smiled, furrowing his eyebrows as his face held great accomplishment.

A few minutes had passed as every second grew worse for Della but she never stopped fighting for her family, just as her family never stopped fighting for her.

"Please ... please let me save them!" She cried, weakly squirming from Lunaris' grip.

Lunaris' smile grew wider. "In 3, 2, 1."

Suddenly, the rocket shook viciously and screamed loudly, fire quickly emerging from every part of it as it exploded, blinding everyone near and far with its bright yellow and orange flames.

"NO!" Della cried, tears flinging from her eyes as her face exploded in emotions. Sadness, grief, anger. "DONALD! SCROOGE! NO!"

Using all her pain and the last of her strength, she finally managed to squirm her way out of Lunaris' cold, cruel hands.

Running over to the rocket with everything she had left in her, she picked up metal pieces, small and large, throwing them to every side of her as she perilously tried to find her family who she thought she had lost.

Finally she stopped, dropping to her knees and crying in a desperate attempt to make her feel better. Maybe if she let it all out it would relieve her from her stress and grief she had lurking inside of her, but still ...... nothing.

"No......" she sobbed. "They can't be gone...... they just can't be...... I-I...... I'm sorry."

...

"We are too, lass." A sudden voice came softly around the back of the ship, the owner of the voice clenching his arm tightly as his companion helped him walk closer to the pilot.

"DONALD! UNCLE SCROOGE!" She cried, jumping into their arms with great relief. Like the chains that bound her down had been cut loose and she was finally set free.

Scrooge and Donald held back with fear for just a moment. Was it really her? It had been so long.

"After all these years." Scrooge stated softly, embracing her with a warm smile and tears escaping his eyes like a waterfall.

Donald stood in shock, not bothering to hug his twin back.

'It can't be real! She's dead!' He thought to himself, the sudden reality of the situation hitting him like the titanic. That's Della! Like the Della! His twin sister!

"No!" He pushed Della away, pupils shaking as lines formed under his eyes.

"Donald I-I'm sorry, I didn't know that taking the spear of Selene would lead to-" Della started, not knowing she would be cut of by her disbelieving twin.

"No! I-I mean this can't be real! It's just a dream! You're not actually here, it's impossible! Scrooge said he searched and searched for years but you were nowhere to be found!" Donald shouted, chest pounding as his heart exploded in emotions.

"Wait..." Donald's head slowly turned to his uncle. The one to have claimed to search for his twin sister and the mother of three.

Donald tackled Scrooge to the ground as anger burnt bright throughout every bit of his body.

"YOU PROMISED YOU WOULD GET HER BACK! YOU PROMISED YOU WERE DOING EVERYTHING YOU COULD TO GET HER BACK! YOU LIED TO ME FOR TEN YEARS!" Donald sqwuaked, pinning Scrooge to the ground as his eyes pierced straight through his soul.

"GET OFF ME!" Scrooge shouted, greatly trying to push his nephew off him, proving to be harder than he thought.

Donald wasn't budging, the fire inside of him burning as bright as the sun.

Scrooge clenched his fists tight, trying to break free from Donalds perilous grasp. "AYE DID ALL I COULD TO GET DILLA BACK! YOU HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I WENT THROUGH~"

"NO IDEA?!" Donald shouted shockingly. "IT TOOK ME OVER SIX YEARS TO FINALLY COME TO THE CONCLUSION SHE WAS DEAD AND EVEN AFTER I CAME TO THAT CONCLUSION I STILL HAD THE SMALLEST OF HOPE THAT YOU WERE AT LEAST TRYING TO FIND MY SISTER!"

"AYE SENT COUNTLESS AMOUNT OF SHIPS OUT TO LOOK FOR HER AND EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM CAME BACK WITH NO RESULT!" Scrooge claimed, face turning red with fury.

"OH YEAH?! WELL THEN HOW COME NO ONE SAW HER! ITS THE MOON, SCROOGE! WHERE ELSE DO YOU THINK SHE WOULD'VE LANDED?! YOU KNEW! YOU KNEW THIS ENTIRE TIME SHE WOULD BE ALIVE AND YOU SAID NOTHING! YOU LIED TO EVERYONES FACES, INCLUDING THE KIDS, FOR YOUR OWN SELFISH NEEDS!"

"SELFISH?! AYE SPENT NINE YEARS DOING NOTHING BUT SEARCHING FOR HER! UNLIKE YOU! I DIDN'T GIVE UP HOPE!" Scrooge shouted back, kicking Donald in the stomach and finally flipping him over so that Scrooge was on top, pushing Donald's arms right down into the moons hard, rocky surface. "YE NEED TO CALM DOWN, DONALD! NOW'S NOT THE TIME!"

"DOES IT REALLY PUT A SMILE TO YOUR FACE KNOWING THREE INNOCENT LITTLE BOYS HAD TO LIVE TEN YEARS WITHOUT THERE MOTHER?!" Donald screamed, mocking Scrooge's moves and kicking him even harder than Scrooge had as he flipped him back over, using all his frustration, fury, sadness and grief to pin him down harder than before. "YOU LIED TO ALL OF DUCKBURG! YOU LIED TO MRS BEAKLY! YOU LIED TO LAUNCHPAD! YOU LIED TO WEBBY! YOU LIED TO MY KIDS!" Donald lifted his arm behind his head, ready to punch Scrooge in his cruel, dumb face. Taking in whatever consequences were to come in the future.

Forcing his arm down towards Scrooges face, the last of the fire that held in Donald's heart set free. "AND YOU LIED TO ME~"

A sudden arm furiously pulled Donald off her uncle and to the ground. "DONALD STOP! CALM DOWN! SCROOGE IS TELLING THE TRUTH!" She yelled, helping Scrooge to his feet.

"Thank you, lass." Scrooge sighed.

"AND HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT?!" Donald stood up, the moon dust on his clothes not bothering him as tears sprung from his eyes frustratingly. "I HAD TO TAKE CARE OF THE TRIPLETS ALL ALONE! DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT WAS FOR ME?! AND WHEN THEY ASKED ABOUT THEIR MOTHER, WHAT WAS I SUPPOSED TO TELL THEM?! THAT THEY'RE UNCLE WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR MOTHERS DEATH?! THEY'RE JUST KIDS!" Donald continued, eyes becoming blurry from the tears that he couldn't hold back any longer. The pain he had held in for ten years, finally escaping in a waterfall pouring from his eyes. "I COULDN'T TELL THEM THE TRUTH BECAUSE I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW THE TRUTH! THAT DAY WAS SUCH A BLUR! I MEAN, WHO'S TO SAY IT WASN'T MY FAULT?! I NEVER PAYED ANY ATTENTION TO DELLA! BESIDES ADVENTURING, WE NEVER EVEN KNEW EACH OTHER AND ITS ALL MY FAULT! MAYBE! JUST MAYBE IF I PAYED MORE ATTENTION TO HER THAN NONE OF THIS WOULD'VE HAPPENED! I~"

All of a sudden, Della pulled a move she hadn't done since she was a kid, something she never showed on the outside, even though she felt the need to on the inside. She showed her love and care towards her twin brother, embracing him in a tight, warm hug as small tears escaped from her eyes.

"I'm sorry. If I had known it would cause all this, then I wouldn't have even thought of taking that risk." She spoke with a raspy voice, her grip on Donald tightening.

"Ay'm sorry too." Scrooge placed a comforting hand on Donald's shoulder. "Aye know you didn't wanna talk to me but that didn't give me any right to block ye out and leave ye alone in the dark. And aye should never have made the spear in the first place, you were right, lad. I should've ...... I should've listened to ye from the start." Scrooge's face changed from a comforting smile, to a regretting frown as he removed his hand from Donald's shoulder.

Donald stood quietly for a second, once again considering if he were to hug his sister back, considering if she was real or if it was just some insane dream, he used to have many dreams on his sister returning home, only to wake up at the very last second and feel his heart sink to the ground.

This time was different, however. There was nothing to consider anymore, just that his sister was home where she belonged and she had proved how truely sorry she was, she had proved how much she missed him just as he missed her.

Finally, after a few seconds of silence that seemed to have lasted forever, Donald tightly hugged him twin sister back with great relief as a great weight had been lifted off his shoulders. A weight that had been there since the night he found out Della had left without warning, the night he realised he was left alone with three children he didn't know what to do with.

Tears escaped Donald's eyes and he didn't let his sister go, he held tight, not wanting to fall back down the same hole he had just come out of.

Scrooge gave a comforting smile at the two, he hadn't seen them this happy together for a long time.

Suddenly, Scrooge felt a tug on his sleeve as he was pulled into the hug without hesitation. He assumed his niece had done so, however, to his surprise, it was his nephew pulling him into the family hug. No matter who it would've been, Scrooge gladly embraced his niece and nephew as they shared great relief to, once again, be back in each others arms.

Out of the blue, a slow sarcastic clap emerged from behind them.

"Lunaris." Della growled, breaking the hug.

"Leave ma family alone ya blastorous blizard!" Scrooge stood in front of his niece and nephew, ready to protect them at all costs.

Lunaris chuckled, holding out a gun from his pocket and, quickly aiming and shooting it towards the three.

BANG!

The hot laser from the gun hit a hard, metal shield that had been held at the last minute by four protective ducks.

"What the ..." Scrooge, Donald and Della opened their eyes to one of the biggest surprises, well, for Della anyway.

"KIDS!"
