Chapter 0: Introduction

Alright, a few things to get out of the way before I start.

I changed up your Bio a bit, and you  don't meet Eggman yet, instead it's just an army of Badniks.

And you'll just meet Sonic in this chapter and introduce yourself to his friends later.

This takes place before the first issue of IDW comics and I will actually be changing up a lot of the story at certain points:

BTW, you are slightly taller than Sonic:
_______________________________________

The forest of Nibel, a lush and colorful place consisting of various species of animals and plants.

This oasis has remained hidden within the deepest depths of Mobius, but soon it shall be discovered.

__________

The Sun hung high in the sky as the forest of Nibel and it's creatures lived out their lives.

Within the center of this forest there was a large tree.

This was the Spirit Tree, the Heart of Nibel that kept it alive.

Sitting atop a high branch was a glowing white figure playing a wooden flute.

This figure was you, Ori as you preferred to be called, (Y/N).

While Ori was the official name the Spirit Tree had given you, (Y/N) was the name your mother Naru gave you.

It just felt better for you to be called that.

As you continued peacefully playing your song a voice suddenly interrupted you.

"(Y/N), could you come down here for a second?" The voice said.

You stopped and looked down at the base of the Spirit Tree and saw your adoptive mother Naru.

Naru:

You smiled and replied:

"Coming mom!"

With swift and agile movements you easily made your way down to the ground.

You landed directly in front of your mother and asked her what she needed.

"It's finally ready." Naru informed and your ears perked up and you gained a happy expression.

You then immediately bolted towards your home which actually caused a gust of win to erupt suddenly which almost knocked Naru off her feet.

Naru sweatdropped as she couldn't even see you anymore.

"That boy just gets faster everyday." She sighed.

"IT'S AMAZING YOU MANAGED TO KEEP UP WITH HIM THROUGHOUT YOUR TIME RAISING HIM." Boomed the voice of the Spirit Tree which frightened Naru slightly who flinched and clutched her heart.

"Are you trying to kill me again?" Naru asked before sighing. "I already died once let me remind you."

Naru would never get used to the Spirit Tree's booming voice, and the fact that it could now project it's voice everywhere did not help in the slightest.

"APOLOGIES." The Spirit Tree stated.

"It's fine." Naru sighed before looking to where you had run off to. "I still think he blames himself for the incident."

"IT WAS NOT HIS FAULT, IF ANYTHING IT WAS MINE." The Spirit Tree said with shame in it's voice.

"Eh, you let out a flash of light because you needed (Y/N) to return to you resulting in the death of 3 baby owls, I didn't return (Y/N) to you because you sent a vague message, the mother of those baby owls wanted to protect her last egg so she decided to completely steal the light which resulted in the forest decaying..." Naru kept listing but then stopped with a sigh. "Look the point is we all made mistakes, but you're right, none of this is (Y/N)'s fault."

"ALL HE DID WAS TRY TO FIX OUR MISTAKES HE WAS PUT INTO A SITUATION BEYOND HIS CONTROL."

Naru simply nodded and walked off. "He needs to stop blaming himself."

Meanwhile, you made your way towards your home and waiting for you by your cave's entrance was Gumo.

Gumo:

He waved at you and said:

"Welcome home Ori, come take a look." He said welcoming you inside.

Nodding you rushed inside and smiled happily at what you saw.

You slowly approached the large egg and placed a hand upon it.

You were happy that you could at least make up for your past actions.

Honestly you wish things wouldn't have turned out this way for Kuro.

The mother of this egg, the great owl of darkness, who sacraficed herself to bring light back to the forest.

Sure she was the one who caused the darkness, but it was because the light killed 3 of her children and she didn't want her last kid to die too.

So it was somewhat understandable.

With her dead, you decided to raise her egg as a way of making it up to her.

She may be dead, but you'd make sure her legacy lives on.

Sure it took a while to get the cave back up to living standards since the forest went blind but it was worth it.

Not only was the entire forest and it's inhabitants saved, the other Spirits that spawned from the Spirit Tree were revived and you could raise Kuro's child in a happy environment.

You suddenly felt 2 hands on your shoulders and turned to see Naru and Gumo giving you kind smiles.

"It'll be okay (Y/N), we'll have another family member running around soon." Gumo assured.

"And like I did with you I'm sure we'll take good care of them." Naru added and you nodded.

You rose up and gave your foster family a group hug which they happily returned.

This was a good beginning, a fresh start for you, your family and this forest.

"ORI!" Came a loud yell that snapped all of you out of your tender moment.

Looking at the cave entrance you saw a female Spirit with Raccoon traits running in.

"Pera?" You asked with concern. "What is it?"

"DANGER!" She yelled pointing outside. "Weird...THINGS, are invading the forest!"

"Easy Pera, explain yourself a little bit more." You said walking up to her.

Pera breathed deeply before saying: "There...are these weird creatures made of metal invading out forest."

"Made of metal?" Gumo asked with a raised brow.

"Yes, they're taking resources, setting things on fire and just causing chaos!" Pera panted.

Hearing this made you clench your fist.

You went through a lot to save this forest, and like hell you were gonna let anything happen to it again.

When you saved the forest and revived the other Spirits you sort of became a leader to them.

So if anything went wrong the first thing they did was inform you.

"Take me to where they are and get the other Spirits." You ordered and Pera nodded.

Before both of you could go however.

"(Y/N), please be careful." Naru stated with worry.

"I don't know what's going on, but these sound like creatures we've never encountered before." Gumo said with equal worry.

You nodded before both you and Pera headed out.

Unbeknownst to you, this very moment signaled the start of a new adventure.

An adventure that will lead you to the world beyond your forest and one that will awaken a new kind of power laying dormant deep within you.

Timeskip:

Both you and Pera made ran as fast as you could through the forest.

Dodging tree branches, jumping over pits and avoiding other hazards.

Until you finally saw a large amount of rising smoke from somewhere in the distance.

Your eyes widened in shock and horror and you immediately increased your speed.

You shot ahead of Pera, to the naked eye it seemed like a Wisp of light was shooting across the forest.

Pera for a second just stood there trying to process what had just happened.

She eventually shook it off and tried to catch up to you.

Meanwhile, you kept running and eventually ran up a particularly tall tree to get a better view of the situation.

The tree was so tall it poked above the entire forest allowing you to better survey the situation.

Looking ahead you saw a large part of the forest was engulfed in flames.

What shocked you even more was the appearance of the creatures wreaking havoc within the flames.

While some of them resembled natural animals you've seen around the forest, you could tell they were far from those creatures.

The Mantis Creatures were launching out their claws, the crabs were shooting out an odd type of energy from their pincers.

Your blood boiled as you watched these creatures slice down trees, blasting away at the environment and just generally being monsters in every sense of the word.

You clenched your claws onto the bark of the tree you were on.

They were destroying the forest, the forest that you had worked hard to save.

The forest that had already been through so much, it did not need this.

"It's...(Pant)...awful I know." Pera said having managed to climb up to meet you. "They showed up without warning and just began burning up the place."

You would have more questions for Pera, like where did they come from?

Or why are they doing this?

But you were sure that Pera was just as clueless as you.

It would be better to go find out by talking to these things...only if they could talk or were willing to.

"Thanks Pera, now go get the others, I'll go and see what this is all about.

"Yessir!" Pera said with a salute before running back down the tree.

You took a deep breath as a light began radiating off of your form.

You felt power building up in your legs and with a burst of spirit energy you launched yourself towards the raging inferno from the tree.

You traveled through the sky at blinding speed and landed directly in the middle of the carnage with a shockwave.

The creatures all stopped what they were doing and turned to the place where you landed.

When the dust cleared you dusted yourself off and glared at these things who had the audacity to attack your home.

"Okay, I'd like an explanation please." You demanded glaring at them.

They all remained silent as you held your glare.

"Anyone?" You asked.

You then turned towards one of the more humanoid looking one.

"How about you? You asked. "You seem like a smart one."

In response the humanoid creature pointed towards you and the rest of the creatures immediately began trying to assault you.

One of the crabs opened it's claws and shot a blue orb of energy towards you.

Without missing a beat you jumped and used both of your feet to Bash the orb into the air letting it explode harmlessly out of range.

It seemed the creatures were shocked and stunned by this action as they all immediately stopped.

"Okay, I'll give you guys that shot for free." You sighed your ears flattening like a Predator's about to pounce. "Do it again and you'll regret ever coming here."

The creatures remained silent until a loud ringing sound began assaulting your ears.

"Hostile Entity detected, focusing all resources on Extermination!" One of the Humanoid creatures yelled.

Immediately one of the Mantis creatures ran at you and attempted to deliver a downward slash.

With your quick reflexes you avoided the slash and bashed off of the mantis into the air forcing the Mantis into the ground.

You then immediately launched yourself downward and stomped on the Mantis creature which resulted in an explosion.

You glared at the remaining monsters who seemed hesitant to attack you now.

"Okay, let's do this..." You said holding out your hand and suddenly a sharp blade of light materialized in it.

This was a technique you developed after your last adventure.

After Sein returned to the Spirit Tree, you realized you were pretty defenseless and so you developed a few techniques to help you during combat.

You just hoped you'd never have to use them.

You weren't a fan of fighting, but that didn't mean you wouldn't fight if you needed to.

One of the Humanoid creatures charged at you with a blade of it's own drawn ready to slice you to pieces.

You saw it coming and delivered a slash to it's blade, this resulted in your blade cutting through it's blade.

Before it could even register what happened, you twirled and slashed the monster's torso.

It fell apart and both pieces fell to the floor.

You then immediately ducked under a Mantis creature's blade swipe and stabbed your sword into it's chest and this made sparks fly out of it.

Quickly, you jumped back as it exploded and turned back to deflect a blast of energy from one of the humanoid creatures who was holding some type of gun.

Immediately, more Humanoids along with the crabs began shooting at you.

The moment one blast got close enough you bashed off of it into the air.

This resulted in most of the blasts missing and hitting the wrong targets, mostly the other creatures.

The ones capable of flight immediately followed you up into the air to take you down.

You slashed one that got to close and bashed off another one behind you directly into 2 more which you cut into multiple pieces.

Finally you shot downwards towards the floor and performed a massive stomp attack.

The stomp resulted in a shockwave which launched most of the creatures into the air.

Most who would watch this wouldn't be able to keep up with your position.

Your speed and precision were incredible, while most of the creatures were still in the air from the shockwave you ran around and slashed them all to ribbons before they even hit the ground.

The few remaining ones now all seemed hesitant to move as you pointed your Spirit Blade directly at them while parts of their comrades rained down behind you.

"Your move." You dared lowly.

Unkown to you and the monsters you were facing there was a figure in the trees completely hidden watching the fight.

"Dang, the guy's almost as fast as me." He stated sounding very impressed.

And there we go, the introduction is done and I can finally get into a good rhythm with this story.

First chapters really are the hardest for me to write.

I have to establish the mood, a few characters and the way I tell the story and if I'm not happy with it I gotta rewrite everything.

I hope you all enjoyed.
