Very few poems and stories are written for fathers.
But I always say fathers are the best.
How easy that word is to say, yet.
I overlook him for the rest.

And when I say; My dad is my superhero.
What did I do for him?
When he held me as a baby years ago,
I was also part of his big dream.

Just then, I ask.
How much had he given up, for me?
In every risk and in every task,
I never asked, how much he had to sacrifice.
I always remember those days,
When mummy had sleepless nights.
Forgetting that daddy was also awake with her.
Watching over me.
But because of the mindset that dad is strong and never cries,
Though I never saw his tears,
Does that mean he doesn't feel pain too?
Dad must be a superhero, indeed.

When my tiny legs were wobbly,
And I couldn't even walk.
Dad held me still and gave me support.
For his love never stops.

During festive periods,
Just like my mates,
I whined for new clothes and shoes.
Even though he had to put the best food on the table,
Dad made my wishes anew.
Wearing his old clothes and shoes.
Looking as normal as usual while I glittered among others.

During school days,
That my father scolded me.
For years I called him wicked.
The disciplinarian. The no joking dad.
Now, I do understand why he took those efforts.
So I could be the best.

And today, there is a list of men.
Listed on the internet as the world's richest.
To me no one is richer than my dad.
I remember those days my dad would remove little change from his torn pockets
And say, buy my son a toy rocket.
And my daughter a chocolate packet.

This made me realize that,
Father's tears might be unseen
But his love is can't go, unfelt.
His presence might feel like a torture
But he is the reason for my successful future.
To all the dad's out there,
And up coming fathers.
