Bulls In The Bronx
Jinx's POV
I can't take it anymore. The pressure, the bullying, I just can't hold myself together! It's too hard! I'm not strong enough. I'm fucking sick and tired of putting a slapping a smile on my face and pretending I'm fine, I'm not. I'm not okay. I'm going to do what I should have done a long time ago.
I was never meant to be anything more than a mistake. Just a stupid jinx. But I didn't need to worry now, it would be all over soon. I just need to do one more thing. I called Violet on Skype, she picked up immediately.
"Hey Jinxy," She said, "You okay?"
"I'm fine. You know that you're my best friend, right?"
"Of course."
"And that you'll always be that no matter what happens?"
"Absolutely. Are you sure you're okay? You look kinda tired and we don't usually talk about this kind of stuff-" Shit. She's getting too close.
"They're calling me for dinner. I gotta go," I lied, "I love you, okay? Bye."
"Jinx, it's 3 o clock. I'm not falling for that bullshit. Don't you dare hang up-" That was the last thing I heard before I disconnected from Skype and turned off my phone so I couldn't receive any calls or texts that could change my mind.
I got the pills from where they had been sitting on my dresser and put the note I had spent so long writing next to me. Alright, here we go. It's time.
One, two, three... They slipped down my throat until the bottle was empty. Everything started to blur together and I felt lightheaded. It's coming. It's finally coming.
Wait, I thought, Aunt Lilly is already in a pretty tough spot. If I kill myself, it's bound to make everything worse for her.
And that's the last thing I remember before the darkness consumed me.
Violet's POV
As soon as Jinx hung up on me I knew something was wrong. Something was seriously wrong. I tried calling him, he didn't pick up. I texted him. No answer. I called him a few more times. Voicemail every single time. Oh God, what if he- No. He couldn't have. Not my best friend. Anyone but him. I called Lindsey, who was at the studio. Gerard was at a week-long music festival in New York City.
"Lindsey, you have to come home right now. I need to check on Jinx. I-I think something happened," I said as soon as she picked up.
"Vi, we're in the middle of practice. Can this wait for a couple hours?" She asked me.
"No no no, Lindsey you don't understand. We were on Skype and he kept saying weird depressing stuff and then hung up on me when I tried to ask him what was wrong, I'm just so scared. I need you to drive me to his foster parent's house so I can check on him and make sure he's okay. Please Lindsey, please," I begged her.
"What kind of stuff was he saying?"
"He told me I was his best friend and he said loved me, and he looked really tired and sad and I think I saw a bottle of pills in the background. Lindsey, please come home," I whimpered. My voice started to shake. There was a brief period of silence on the other end of the phone.
"Okay, I'm coming home," Lindsey finally said. I breathed a sigh of relief. Oh thank God. She's coming, "I'll text Mikey and tell him to watch over Bandit. I'll see you in 15 minutes, okay bye."
So I paced around the living room for 15 minutes, until I saw Lindsey's car pull in the driveway. I didn't wait for her turn the engine I jumped into the car.
"Violet, you better be sure about this," She said and pulled out of the driveway. I didn't say anything back. I couldn't. My thoughts were too consumed with thoughts of my best friend.
After 20 torturous minutes we finally turned onto Jinx's street. I could see flashing blue and red lights in the distance. No. No, no no no. I pinched myself. Is this a dream? As I watched a red crescent appear on my forearm it occurred to me that this was not a dream. This was real.
"Shit," Lindsey whispered, putting my exact feelings into words. We parked a little ways away I mad my way to the house. His foster mother, Alana, was standing near the porch, shaking slightly. She saw me and thrust an empty bottle of pills in my hands.
"There was 30 of them when I put them in the cabinet. It was empty when I found it next to his bed."
My worst fears were true. He had done it. He had actually done it. The world started to swirl around me as I dropped to my knees and screamed.
