1x5. Zero period: Slavic 1

Another zero period class happening is Russian 1, Czech 1, and Belarusian 1. But since there's a shortage of teachers and so many classes, the three are rolled into one name: "Slavic 1."

Coach Ryan Kesler, the substitute teacher of the class, is standing behind his desk, looking perfectly in his suit as the students stroll in.

Evelyna strolls in with Vlad and Ondřej Palát. But one look at her substitute teacher makes her breakdown into tears of dismay.

Coach Ryan pursues his lips at his weeping student. "Ah yes, my favourite reaction when people see me. I can get used used to this." He points to her. "You already have an A! Alright, let's get down to this school business."

Coach Ryan picks up his clipboard from the desk, rounds the table, and halts next to the first desk. "Galchenyuk sit here—" He points to the second seat. "Goldobin, sit here—"

Alex Galchenyuk objects: "Wait, but—"

"No questions asked," Coach Ryan cuts in. He then continues on assigning seats.

The students sit at their assigned seats. Evelyna gets placed behind Vlad, which calms her down.

Coach Ryan rushes back to his desk and exchanges his clipboard for the textbook. "Open up your textbooks to page i."

"I don't think we have to read—"

Coach Ryan gives the death stare to Alex. "Are you the teacher?"

Alex stays quiet.

"I thought so."

Ondřej Kaše leans over to Tomáš Hertl and whispers to him: "This guy's as bad as Cram..."

Tomáš makes a confused look at Ondřej. "Who's Cram?

"You don't want to know." Ondřej shakes his head with wide eyes.

Coach Ryan clears his throat and barks: "Rookie bread, read."

Artemi Panarin jerks in his seat and perks up. "Huh?"

"Yeah, yes you, pretty bread. Read."

"Um—" Artemi fumbles with his textbook. Once he's still, he begins to read poorly: "Wel-wel-wel...com...eh... t-t-to—"

Evelyna raises her hand.

Coach Ryan gazes at her with a flat look. "Yes?"

"Why are you teaching Russian?"

"Because I can." He sharply turns back to Artemi. "Bread boy, continue reading."

"Um, uh..." Artemi stares down at his textbook and continues reading with poor English.

Since it's so jejune to hear poor reading, Evelyna reaches over and begins to scruff up Vlad's hair.

Coach Ryan immediately spots them. "You two: stop. Or else I'll make you stop."

Evelyna retracts back to her seat and picks up her textbook. She stares at the text that is being read, then snaps her eyes back up to see if Coach Ryan is watching her; his eyes are on his textbook.

So with a sly smirk, she puts her textbook down and continues messing up Vlad's hair.

A hand suddenly slams against Evelyna's table. Evelyna freezes and moves her hands up to see the face of a grave Coach Ryan.

"Alright, that's it." He grabs the back of Vlad's chair, which is connected to his desk, and drags him down to the front of the classroom.

"No, Vladdy!!!" Evelyna cries out with her hands stretched out, on the verge of tears.

Coach Ryan then plunks Vlad and his desk next to Alex. He then marches back up to Evelyna. "Well, it appears I have to send you to the principal's office. I didn't think I'll send you this soon. It's a shame they're not so intimidating."

Evelyna stumbles out of her chair and rushes out of the room and into the outside.

She storms through the walkway, over to the building where the principal's office is located and enters. She breezes past the secretary desk, where Veronica the secretary is busy on her computer, and stomps down the hall and into the principal's office.

There in the small room is Louis. He is lounging behind the desk, hands folded behind his head, feet propped up on the desk, and eyes on a soccer game that is being shown on the TV screen.

Louis senses someone entering the office, so he turns to face Evelyna. "Well, well, well," he says with a growing smirk.
