So, I wanted to start this off with something close to home. Danny Phantom.

Danny Phantom has been a part of my life for a while now and I truly enjoyed the show even as I got older. Everything about that show (except for maybe the episode that shall not be named) was wonderfully creative and fun.

Now if anyone has been keeping up to date with Danny Phantom they would know that Butch Hartman has a little series on his Youtube channel showing Danny Phantom characters aged up 10 years. Part 1 & 2 detailed human characters getting older, and now we have Part 3 showing us some ghosts who have 'aged up' in the Danny Phantom world.

I have a few problems with this.

Don't get me wrong I have nothing wrong with the ghosts getting older. It was shown to us in The Ultimate Enemy that ghosts can age and I'm okay with that. It's just a few things, little bits and pieces in the video that I'm not okay with.

First off, Box Ghost.

Box Ghost was a lovable and funny character in the series (albeit annoying) and made many appearance so it was no wonder he was the first one to get aged up. Butch makes him a little scarier and less cuddly than his original design and that's not what I'm really angry over. No, it's what he said during that part.

"We don't do dead guys, or girls, on Danny Phantom. These are not the ghosts of dead people."

Okay Butch, you mentioned that in your Exploring the Ghost Zone video or whatever it was called and I have had a problem with that since then. If they aren't "ghosts" then why call them that? What's the point? Does that make Danny not 'half-ghost' but instead 'half-dimensional-creature-thing'? A GHOST IS SOMETHING THAT WAS ONCE ALIVE BUT NOW IS NOT AND LINGERS AROUND TRYING TO FINISH THEIR UNRESOLVED BUSINESS BEFORE PASSING ON INTO THE GREAT BEYOND OR WHATEVER!!

Not to mention there are at least TWO confirmed 'ghosts' that were once living people. Ember (who has a full backstory as to why she is a ghost) and Sydney Poindexter (who was a former student at Casper High). Now this might be a classic case of stolen identity and these 'ghosts' just adopted those personas because they related to them in some way but still. EXPLANATIONS WOULD BE NICE!

Moving on, we got Skulker as the third aged up ghost in the video. Now, here's the thing that many people often forget. Skulker, is not the giant, flaming haired, metallic beast we see in the show. No no no, he is a tiny green blob PILOTING a giant, flaming haired, metallic ROBOT he uses for hunting his prey. Now I'm not opposed to the idea that in 10 years Skulker got an upgrade and became a big buff ghost instead of a tiny green blob, but Butch never says that in the video. He refers to the robot body as Skulker and makes adjustments to it based on that. SKULKER IS A TINY GREEN BLOB! YOU MADE US AWARE OF THAT WHEN YOU FIRST INTRODUCED HIM! WHY DOES NO ONE CARE ABOUT THIS FACT OTHER THAN ME!? 

*ahem*

Anyways, yeah. I'm not too happy right now.

Now onto today's final piece. Dark Danny.

Dark Danny was and is one of my favorite characters from the Danny Phantom series. He was cruel, he was vicious, he was cunning and it killed me that we never saw him again. (Tbh a final confrontation between DP and DD would have made a WAY better series finale, in my opinion)

I digress. I will just say one thing. DAN LOOKS F*CKING RIDICULOUS. He looks more like something you'd see in a sci-fi movie or a Dracula movie than Danny Phantom (I mean seriously just look at the ears). The cool thing about Dark Danny was that he was a combination of both Vlad and Danny's ghost halves, so he obviously shared similarities with them and even looked like them. That's what made it so powerful. Danny was looking at what he would become. That was him as an evil monster. Now Dark Danny looks nothing like Danny or Vlad. And I get it. It's been 10 years, obviously he would have changed but still... why wouldn't he continue to look similar. Maybe festering rage and being trapped in such a small space for 10 years changed his appearance, but for me that kinda takes away from the whole 'I am your future' element.

I bet I sound like those whiny fans out there who don't like things changing but I swear I'm not trying to be. I'm fine with things changing, but at least make the changes make sense. Explain the reasons behind your designs and why you chose to reference certain characters from other material for your new designs.
