Paul's POV...

After I put Dawn in bed, Darkrai, Ace and I went back to the forest. During the battle between Dawn and that kid, I noticed something different about him. Dawn seems to have known him for a long time and was once his best friend, until something happened that is.

"Master, you felt that strange aura too, didn't you?" I nodded.

"That weakling couldn't have been a demon, he couldn't even say anything after Dawn had told him off."

"Speaking of Dawn," I said turning to look at Ace. "Why do you always get angry at her? I noticed you give her glares and snarl at her. Why?" Ace was surprised, but then his expression changed from shock to anger.

"Because she keeps looking at you like every other girl. She is just going to hurt you, probably take advantage of you and leave you like the rest of them." He replied, getting angrier by the second. "I just wanna make sure you're ok. You know you shouldn't trust people to easily and I think she could hurt you and we have been working really hard to make you happy again. I mean, I know Gary and Drew have been loyal to you, but that's probably because you saved them all those years ago." Darkrai and I were both shocked by Ace's response. I guess I understand why he's so protective of me now. I picked Ace up and gave him a little squeeze.

"Thanks for your concern but I'm fine." I replied.

"I think Dawn is a nice girl and will never hurt Master Paul. I have felt a nice pleasant aura coming from her and I do believe that Kenny boy has hurt her so much that she needs help just like Master does."

"Yeah, well I still don't trust her, and I'm still going to keep an eye on her." I smiled at Ace. It makes me feel so happy knowing my Pokemon will always be there for me, even if no one else was. Why? I looked around, hearing the same voice I heard before. Why did you leave? Who is saying that? Who's there? Boy...monster... Stop! I shouted. He is dangerous!! Please stop. HELP ME!!! Who are you?!

"Master?"

"Dusk?"

I shook my head to get rid of the voices, but they kept coming. I felt dizzy again, and before I knew it, my world turned black.

Dawn's POV...

I woke up around midnight, looking around, wondering how I got back to the Pokemon Center when everything came crashing down. No! I thought. You can't let him get to you. All he did was destroy you and betrayed you!!! I sadly looked at my hands. Why did he do it, though? Why did he want to hurt me so badly and travel with him? How can I travel with someone who has been nothing but cruel to me. He has hurt me in many ways I never thought was possible. Why? I wiped away my tears, then I remembered about Paul. Looking around the room, I found Paul sleeping on the couch, half of his body falling of. He looked really uncomfortable. I saw Ace sleeping on his chest and Darkrai standing/sleeping next to the couch.

I walked over to him, slowly, and quietly. I smelled a very attractive scent coming from him, or at least I thought it was coming from him. I crept closer and sniffed him. He smells good. I thought. I couldn't really identify the smell, but I knew I liked it. Kenny never smelled this good, in fact his smell was more like a girl's perfume, all flowery and fruity. I looked at Paul's face and noticed how calm he looked when he was sleeping. He looks like a child I thought as I lifted my hand to brush away some of his hair from his face. Before my hand came in contact, Ace jumped up and growled at me. I small scream escaped through my lips as I fell backwards. The little scream and Ace jumping on his chest caused Paul to wake up with a jolt and fall off the couch. I rushed to his side, ignoring the growling Umbreon.

"Hey are you ok?" I asked, trying to help him sit up.

"Yeah, I'm fine." He rubbed his head a little, possibly trying to soothe out the pain. He looked a Ace.

"Hey buddy, what's wrong?" Ace said something, I don't know what it was though.

"What did he say?"

"Ace said you were trying to do something to me." Paul said. I noticed how his eyes were guarded this time, as if he was trying to close himself off.

"No, no, no." I said, shaking my head and crossing my arms. "I just noticed you were sleeping and wanted to make sure you were ok." It was partly true, ever since Paul's nightmare, I was worried about him. Before Paul had a chance to open his mouth, my stomach rumbled. I blushed in embarrassment and put my hands on my stomach.

"Looks like someone's hungry." Paul said with a slight grin. My face became a little more red.

"S-s-shut u-up." I stuttered. I realized that I have been sleeping for practically the whole day and haven't eaten anything since breakfast. I noticed Paul standing up and walking towards the door.

"H-hey where are you going.?" I called. He turned giving me a confusing stare.

"What do you mean? Aren't you hungry?"

"W-well y-y-yeah, kind of." I stuttered again, why am I stuttering?! Paul smiled and I blushed again. His smile is really cute. I shook my head to get rid of my thoughts, knowing nothing good will be in there.

"Well, so am I. I haven't eaten anything and I could go for a snack. Wanna join me?" I nodded and skipped next to him, feeling happier that I get to spend more time with him alone. W-WAIT...WHAT??!?!?!?! I just want to get some food right? I glanced at Paul, through the corner of my eye. He still had the cute smile on his face. I blushed. ...Right?
