The Life of an Average Teenager-Essay
Some might think that it is easy being a teenager and having some responsibilities to do, but it's not. We have a complex life style and live hard lives and struggle with living. I am 16 years old and I hate being a teenager. I see the problem and I have and still it occurs daily, that we as teenagers have to feel and go with the flow with being popular and doing what every day teenagers do. Life message: Life may suck but being a teenager is only part of your life.
When I was in elementary I struggled with figuring out who my actual friends are. Being bullied and struggled with in high school with knowing who my closest trusted friends are and where you fit in. When I was in elementary and middle school it seemed that I knew who my friends were but it changed after the summer of ending of grade 8. I knew who I thought I was close to and hung out with during my elementary years, but my friends weren't so close to me anymore because of either popularity or social status in this world. Sure it won't really matter when I hit the hard reality of adulthood. It feels so frustrating when I can't understand this dumb social nonsense.
I hate being in a group anywhere because I feel the pressure of what the group decides to do and if I can rely on them to get their job done. I don't work well with groups because it seems that there are different ranks to this social life in almost every high school and the teenage years. What I found out is that the highest rank would be those who are the ones who are the leaders (governments, bosses, kings, rulers, etc.) Then there is the middle class level where the teenager would all agree on what the leader wants and the votes rule for the majority. Next there are the neutral followers, which might have a say in the matter but tend to not want anything to do with the groups but who don't really have a say in the matter but have to go along with the group.
This is what reality is now especially in my life time. There seems to be these groups that we all feel like we have to be a part of or else we don't fit in. it even happens to the route of getting to adulthood.
Being a teenager seems like it is an easy route to get to adult hood, sadly it's not that simple. I always seem to struggle with adolescence of which the transition of growing up, choosing who my friends are, my career path and a whole list that could go on and on. Some teenagers of my age seem to think that smoking weed is a good idea and it would calm their nerves about some problem either at home or another personal problem they have. They think smoking is ok and that they would never get caught drinking alcohol underage at all. I don't feel like that is something I should do with my stress and teenager problem.
I hate living near or being close to peers in my high school where they laugh about the time where they were drinking and getting sick while leaving a disgusting vomit trail behind them. Then they laugh about doing really illegal stuff. Sure they might be stupid enough not to stop and then get caught but that's what reality is for me; even those who don't want anything to do with it but we have no choice. We feel that we need to stay popular and keep our reputation up with the crowd. It also makes me sick to see teenager laughing at the thought of smoking weed. It is outrageous. It's also frustrating when you don't know who to trust and the gossip they might spill to each other.
It a struggle in my life with knowing who to trust. it's seems that I can tell my so called "friends" most of my secrets, in which they promise not to share it but if I turn my back on them and do end up trusting my so called friends but they just gossip behind my back about my secrets. I hate being popular and I feel that I must be popular or I might be considered a loser and a freak that nobody will like me.
Being popular means that we get to shape society and shape the way fashion and all the social life as teenagers. I feel like I need to know what teenagers are actually doing these days even though some of it seems really dumb. We might seem to like all this social stuff but it isn't worth it. I struggle with just trying to trust my friends. I have a feeling that in my school a lot of people who pretend to be my friend but in reality they might not be who they actually act as they are. I know some peers in my school say that they are my friend but they treat me different and they try really hard to make me think that I am their friend when they seem to really not be. Some people just seem to think that they can treat me as if I'm their friend. Then they break my trust and ask me forgiveness many times over.
Being a teenager isn't easy with anyone, or anything. Choosing our career path is a hard decision to make. I can't decide if I want to be in a career with animals or with technology. I kinda know that I want to be an animator or game designer of some kind but it's not 100% certain yet. As for me it is hard to find a job with my skills, experience and my hours available during school. Where I live there is a lot of university and college students coming back and they take the entire jobs that we students who actually live as well as need a job to pay for things can't get for ourselves, such as college, our driver's licence, saving up for when we leave home at 18 years old. As the older students get the job because they are returning home and getting their previous. The returning students also have more of a higher amount of experience will get the job easier without any effort but the students who don't have lack of experience or the hours available will end up not getting the job opening.
I am still looking for a job in my town and have tried lots to get a job but no luck. I am young women and I find that there is more men working in my town then women are. There are still plenty of women getting the jobs but they are older and have more experience than I do. Also I have tried to get any job to pay for things I want or need but it seems that those who aren't hiring people like me would mean that I would never gain a job and have experience to have a job in the first place.
In conclusion Teenagers do have a complex life style and live hard lives and struggle with living. Our lives are not always easy and simple. Some might still think that it is easy being a teenager and having some responsibilities to do, but Teenagers still have a complex life style and live hard lives and are struggle with living daily.
