The invitation and the possible reason

"Jacob put that down! I swear to god, put it down." Veronica's voice called out through the kitchen window of the Swan household. For pottering around on the front lawn a heavy bag of cement in his arms was none other than Jacob who only two weeks prior had been laid out with an entire right side of his rib cage smashed into multiple fractures. He turned to her with a large smile as he threw the bag of cement up and down a couple of times to show her he could carry it. She knew he healed fast but she wasn't sure he had actually healed properly from his injuries and could not stand to see him injure himself again. She continued to stare at him hoping he could see through her gaze how unimpressed she was regarding this whole situation. Though he stuck his tongue out at her and turned around to go and put the bag down next to the small cement mixer they had out front.

"It's like I'm dealing with two toddlers." Veronica spoke as she walked out to where Jacob was currently stood outside the house. When she reached him she was pulled into his arms.

"See I'm all healed up, stronger than I've ever been." He tried to convince her but Veronica was not 100% convinced, after all she was sure she had seen him wincing earlier on and was sure he wasn't quite healed, plus he was still not back doing his normal patrols at the moment told he wouldn't be able to shift for at least another month to ensure his body was healed enough to allow the changes.

"Sure you are." She hummed back as she looked out to the current project he was undertaking with a couple of the other pack members, who were yet to actually arrive.

The family had decided the pot hole which had formed on the driveway really aught to be covered up. Especially considering Matthew liked to ride his toy car up and down it and this hole made it unsafe. Therefore, with a little bit of persuasion, actually it was just finding a day when enough people would be free to do the filling and resurfacing, they were able to do so. However, with the actual danger the concrete presented to a very curious two year old, it was either keep Matthew inside or find somewhere to take him. Luckily Billy had stepped in very quickly claiming he was lacking in hours with his grandson and wanted to have a day, with just the two of them, on the reservation. Veronica and Jake was sure the older man was spending the day introducing the toddler to the legends for the first time and they were going to be dealing with a two year old who just wanted to be a wolf by the time they got him back that night.

"Let's get inside it looks like the others are running a little late." Jake had suggested as he took Veronica's hand and led the teenager into the house.

It was less than a two minute walk which would take them from the front yard to the lounge. The pair slouching on the couch as soon as they entered and turning their attention to the TV. Sure they could have done absolutely anything considering it was only the two of them in the house, yet neither of them really felt like it. Spending time on their own doing something as mundane and simple as watching a random show on the TV was more than enough for them. Considering where they had been two weeks ago, this was something for a moment neither was sure they would get to have again.

"There's an episode of the Apprentice on Vero, do you want to watch that?" Jake asked as he flicked through the channels at a rate which was so fast Veronica couldn't even register what each channel was showing before he was on the next one. Surprisingly this wasn't a new habit that came along with the other superhuman traits, no Jake had been like this since his early teens and Veronica had just adapted to allowing him to just decide what he wanted to watch and putting up with it. They both had a soft spot for the show which was the Apprentice, neither liked Donald Trump but the overall show was a decent amount of entertainment. Plus they liked to place bets each episode on how they thought would be going home.

"Sure my love go ahead." She agreed instantly knowing he would only continue to flick through the channels until he saw something else that took his fancy. And that could take another ten minutes or so to do so.

The pair had gotten comfortable on the couch in the meantime and had become properly invested in the episode. So much so that they had gotten their bets laid out on the table on two piles one of which team they thought was going to win and who they thought was going home. Veronica was sure Jacob was just picking whoever was the most annoying as to who he wanted to go home she didn't blame him though. Half of these contestants needed a nice slice of humble pie. That was until Jacob suddenly stilled and sat bolt right up. Considering Veronica had almost been completely rested upon him, her entire balance was thrown as he quickly sat up and she fell back into a little heap on the sofa. Though his sudden stilling as though there was something go on which shouldn't have been had alerted to her that maybe something strange was going on. She just prayed it wasn't one of the vampire soldiers from the army two weeks prior.

Though she was confused when there was a knock upon the door. She didn't think rouge vampires knocked on the door. She was also not certain any of the Cullens knew how to knock, considering her previous encounters with two of them. Well, Edward had knocked in the early days of his and Bella's relationship but that may have only been like twice at most. Therefore, she had turned her head to look at the door before she looked back at Jake who seemed tense but he wasn't overly shaking so that was a good sign.

"Vampire?" Was the only word she let out a simple question as she made a move to stand to answer the door not wanting to really leave whomever this was waiting for a long period of time. Though a hand reached out to stop her.

"Babe, let me answer it." Jacob tried to protest.

"I don't think whoever it is, is much of a threat they just knocked." Veronica tried to argue though was silenced with a single look. "Fine together?" She offered the only solution.

The pair then headed to the door where Veronica carefully opened it, on the other side of the door stood none other than the ginger haired immortal teenager.

"Sup Ginge?" Jacob greeted from behind Veronica even before she could say anything herself. Edward only looked at the pair for a moment unsure of what to say to them both, he wasn't even certain they knew. That would make sense as to why they were so confused to see him at the door.

"What can we do for you Edward? You probably already know my sister isn't here she basically lives with you guys anyways." Veronica questioned curious as to why he was there she had heard Bella get up at about 10am to head to the Cullens mansion out in the forest.

"I wanted to personally deliver these to you and your father. But it seemed to escape Bella's mind that he was working today." Edward held out two thick rather small envelopes. Each of which had a very pretty cursive writing on them. She took the two envelopes from the vampire before Jacob could snatch them out of her hands.

The first envelope was addressed to her father and therefore she decided to leave that one. The second however, was addressed to both her and Jacob. She pondered for a moment as to why Edward would be handing her a letter addressed to the pair unless this was her sisters official goodbye. Deciding to just open it when he wasn't present she passed both envelopes to Jake who stood pressed to her back so she knew he was there and so he could wig out the immortal stood across from them.

"Thank you?" Veronica spoke her words coming out more as a question rather than an actual statement of her gratitude. After all she hadn't a clue what the envelopes contained. Rather so staring awkwardly at the vampire not sure as to what to say to him. She didn't like him and hadn't be subtle in letting him know, therefore she only wondered how long he would awkwardly stand at her doorway.

"It was a pleasure, I hope to hear from you guys soon." And with that the ginger turned and headed down the driveway and into his overpriced vulvo before driving straight off. Veronica quickly slammed the door shut before turning on her heel to face Jacob.

Jacob stood there fidgeting with the two envelopes. From the way he stood bouncing on the balls of his feet Veronica knew he was desperate to open the one addressed to the couple. It was clear in both his eyes and actions and in this moment she really saw where Matthew had picked that little characteristic up from.

"You are so like your son." She sighed out as she watched him put down the envelope addressed to her father whilst still clinging onto the one that had his name on it.

"Can I open it?" Jacobs voice bounced out, sounding eerily similar to that of a young child and Veronica had to pinch herself for believing her soulmate would ever act like an actual adult. This was Jacob for crying out loud he would have some form of sense and sensibility only when he reached his 80s and probably not even then.

"I dunno if we should wait for my dad to get home first. He has got one too." Veronica tried to reason and when she saw him pout in protest she was once again reminded of her toddler and now knew who to blame entirely for the little traits he had regarding the not getting what he wants reactions.

"What about me Ronnie?" Came Charlie's voice as he walked through the front door.

"Oh hi Dad, didn't realise you were finishing early, anyways Edward dropped off some sort of letter for us all. Reckon it's something about Bella finally joining the cult?" Veronica answered her father turning around to pose her cult question. At first, when the Cullens had moved to Forks all those years ago, her father hated the fact that she referred to the family as a cult but more recently he had started to agree with the girl.

"I don't know suppose we should open them." Charlie moved to grab the envelope with his name written on it from the kitchen counter ensuring to be careful enough that he didn't rip anything inside. He silently read the letter whilst Jacob tore into the one in his hands. Veronica moved so she was peering over his shoulder as she read the letter at the same time as he did. By the time they had both reached the bottom of the invitation the two teenagers turned to look at eachother.

"No way." Jacob spoke first of the three as it would appear both him and Veronica were unaware that Bella and Edward were to get married, yet alone in a matter of weeks.

"That's a bit rapid isn't it, can they even get everything ready in that time?" Veronica commented noting that the wedding was due to occur just before they were supposed to head off to college in the fall less than three months to go.

"He only asked for my permission two weeks ago after he had already proposed." Charlie grumbled out obviously under the suspicion that this had been planned far in advance but as though Bella was only just deciding now to inform her actual family.

"Hang on this invite is only addressed to me and you. No mention of Matty." It had suddenly dawned on Veronica and she was not happy. She knew Bella was trying to erase all signs of Matthew out of her life, but she had basically convinced everyone that he was Veronica's anyways so why would she not invite him to the wedding.

"It's okay maybe they just assumed we would bring him anyways." Jacob tried to soothe as he saw her face slowly grow red in anger.

"This is my sister we're talking about she probably didn't want him there. But I won't go without him. I suppose we'll be having words." Veronica's words were showing her anger at her older sister and Jacob gathered the pair were just going to sneak the toddler in. No words would be required.

"It's okay buttercup, we'll just bring him along, they won't turn us away." Jacob tried to offer.

"If it had been the other way around I would have invited him as a curtesy." Veronica was set on the idea that she was going to be having strict words with her elder sister no matter what anyone told her otherwise. The stubborn streak which ran through all Swans finally rearing its head once again. Therefore, Jacob decided to back down before it got into an unnecessary argument. It would appear he was suddenly saved as he could hear the familiar voices of his friends. The ones which were going to help fix the driveway.

"Oh that seems like the boys, I'll head out and see if we can get this driveway fixed as soon as possible." Jacob dipped out as he handed the invite to Veronica and was out of the door. Charlie let out a little chuckle at the teenagers actions, he couldn't blame him Veronica the angry mother bear was scary if you opposed her. He would instead leave his youngest to whatever she was going to say to her elder sister as he went to potter about upstairs. Maybe he would empty the bins considering the collection date was tomorrow. Yes that sounded like a good idea.

"Isabella Marie Swan" He heard the angry tones of his youngest and he was happy he was out the room. The amount of spite he could hear in those few words was enough to make him happy he wasn't on the receiving end of her wrath.

Though he would soon wish he hadn't gone through the task of cleaning out the bathroom bins. He knew to expect almost anything considering he had two daughters in their late teens, and technically in or almost in their adult years. They also both had boyfriends so he could only imagine what he was going to find. But for once he was clearing out the bins filled with pretty normal bathroom items such as the used bottle of shampoo and the packaging of a new bar of soap. Yet one thing fell out he never thought he would lay his eyes upon once again.

For upon the bathroom floor clear as day was a positive pregnancy test. Immediately his brain went to the fact that not only was he going to be a grandfather once again but to the fact that he truly didn't know which child this could belong to. But he knew he had a preference. For yes, sure Veronica was the younger of the two, and still hadn't finished high school yet. But she was also the only responsible one of the two, for she had done a pretty good job at raising Matthew so far and since she had taken it on so young as well. He also actually like Jacob the young boy having also stepped up and become a very good father to his first grandchild. He could only pray this test belonged to that couple.

Soon enough he heard his youngest hang up the phone and decided to chance it. Picking up the positive test he headed back down to the kitchen. For there stood his youngest looking rather proud of herself, as she had obviously managed to get away with what she wanted following the phone call.

"Ronnie? Do you have something to tell me?" He questioned watching as she turned around with a look of confusion on her face. Especially when it landed on what was in his hands.

"What do you mean dad?" She had asked her confusion remaining and Charlie felt his stomach drop this meant what he had assumed.

"I mean I know you're both pretty young still, I won't be angry if it is you, you're an amazing mother already." He tried to encourage the words he wished for.

"I really have no clue what you're talking about dad, that's not mine. Me and Jacob decided we'd wait until we had our own house before trying for a second child. Matthew's more than enough for us at the moment." Charlie watched as it clicked for her what he had just discovered as both Swans stood looking at each other wondering what to say next.

"Not again." Charlie sighed out being the first of the two to speak.

"This makes no sense," Veronica uttered "Absolutely none I thought Edward didn't believe in sex before marriage. That's why I thought they were rushing the wedding."
