The graduation and the celebration

Time seemed to fly by recently. For this morning Bella was due to graduate from high school. It didn't seem like nearly two years ago to Veronica that her elder sister had moved to forks. Yet here she was graduating from high school before moving half way across the country to college. Neither Veronica nor her father understood why Bella would choose Alaska of all places for College. All the clumsy brunette had complained about was the lack of sun in forks and how it rained so much. But Alaska was just as cold if not about 10 times as cold and it snowed very often so there wasn't more sun there than there was in forks. Veronica had assumed this was Bella's last effort to completely distance herself from the rest of the family. She had heard the school chatter that Edward Cullen was also going to college in Alaska. She should have known that considering that Bella couldn't seem to breathe without the vampire by her side that they would be frolicking off together into the sunset for college. Well, not quite into the sunset more of into the snow storm.

But she had gone past caring. Veronica knew the harsh truth that Bella didn't like nor care for her, the same going for Matthew. Bella only saw the pair of them as a means to an end and a contender for Jacob. It was stupid in Veronica's opinion as she watched on as her sister attempted to create her own little love triangle. But Jacob had never shown any romantic interest in Bella and he probably never would yet her sister was trying so desperately to do so. She had complained a lot about this to basically anyone who would listen. Her poor father getting the brunt of it upon an evening after Bella had once again had a go at Veronica for trying to steal Jacob from her.

It had been just a typical day really, both sisters having been at school during the day and whilst Veronica went to collect Matthew from nursery, Bella and Edward went back to the swan residence to enjoy their hour and a half together before Charlie got home. And true to his promise Edward 'left' the house just before 5pm when Charlie would walk through the front door. Only this time he hadn't gone straight up to the older siblings room in the attic. He had actually left the premises. Veronica shrugged it off assuming it was nothing until she walked into the kitchen a little while later to see her sister cooking dinner for once. Bella only cooked dinner when she wanted to talk about something. Or accuse Veronica of doing something, after all that was about as far as their sibling conversations had ever gone. Bella had so far accused her of stealing money, doing drugs along with the boys on the reservation, and selling her own body. Accusations all of which had no foundation and Veronica didn't know where in her sisters mind this whole plan came from. What was she trying to do? Ruin Veronica's entire reputation and future prospects just because she had stepped in and raised her son on her behalf?

Though Bella hadn't jumped straight on Veronica when she walked into the kitchen. Actually she had remained relatively quiet until the four swans were sat at the table that evening. Matthew in his high chair not being able to sit on the stools quite yet as they did not have a back and they were looking into getting him his own special chair so they didn't have to worry about him falling off. The four sat in almost silence other than the sounds of them eating, or in Matthew's case playing with his food. Until Bella had suddenly turned her attention towards Veronica. She had to hold her breath considering what she knew Bella to get like.

"So Veronica when are you going to stop chasing after Jacob?" Bella had started

"What do you mean chase after Jacob?" Veronica asked with confusion in her tone, she was not chasing after Jacob they were together no chasing required.

"Can't you see he's in love with me?" Bella announced like it was some widely known fact and Veronica let out a snort of laughter. Her Jacob in love with Bella, there was no chance.

"I don't know what planet you're living on Bella, but I'm almost 1000% positive Jacob isn't in love with you. It shouldn't matter anyways because you have your precious Edward. Don't you?" Veronica spun the question onto her sister.

"Edward is also in love with me. Can't you see just how desirable I am?" Bella snapped at her sister and Veronica turned to give her father a look. Charlie understood his youngest as he quietly excused himself from the table and taking the slightly mucky Matthew with him and out of the room to clean the toddler and leave the two girls.

"Bella I hate it to break it to you but not every boy you see is in love with you." Veronica spoke softly as if she was telling a child that the easter bunny was not real.

"I'm not saying every guy I'm saying that Jacob is and you should back off." Bella's tone was spiteful and Veronica couldn't understand where she had gotten this idea from.

"How can I back off from the person who is helping me raise Matthew?" Veronica posed this question.

"Please he's only raising Matthew to prove to me he can be a good father he doesn't care about either you or that mistake." Bella continued on and Veronica had enough of her sisters constant attacking at herself and belittling of her son.

"I am done with this conversation and you Bella. You are delusional get that through your head. Matthew is no mistake of mine, he might be your mistake but he will never be one to me." Veronica turned at that moment to leave her sister to clear the table and what she had used for cooking.

That was how Veronica had gotten herself uninvited from her sister's graduation. Not that she would have gone anyways, Matthew would not have sat still for long enough to last the entire celebration. Also why would she clap and congratulate her sister who she knew had cheated her way through all her assignments and exams. It was also how she had gotten herself uninvited to the graduation party that the Cullen's were holding. The only problem was that she hadn't been invited anyways so what was the point uninviting someone if you never invited them. Veronica couldn't understand her older sister's logic and just knew she was only in for something if she thought she could gain something from it.

That was what had left her wondering what her sister had wanted with Jacob. It was clear as day that Jacob wanted nothing to do with her and Bella had Edward anyways. Until she recalled a part of a conversation she had overheard a few weeks back in the school cafeteria. Her sister was complaining to Lauren Mallory that Edward refused to sleep with her. So was Bella just desperate for Sex? Was that the only reason she was trying to go after any other boy she could get her hands on. That was just a low tactic for her sister to take. Did this mean Bella hadn't been loyal throughout their relationship? Who knew other than the girl herself but that may explain why Mike Newton was so hooked up on her sister.

Veronica didn't want to focus on her sister's love or sex life. She wanted to instead enjoy the rest of her afternoon following the graduation she wasn't allowed to attend. Her father had begged to take Matthew with him to the beach and she hadn't protested. It meant she had the afternoon and into the evening on her own. A little time to relax and maybe get a well deserved nap. A nap sounded really good at that moment in time. She didn't care for the so called Cullen party that afternoon it was supposed to start really early at like 6pm or something, obviously the vampires hadn't been to many modern day parties to start one so early.

Currently she was laid on the sofa in a pair of joggers and one of Jake's old shirts he no longer wore, considering the insane wolf temperature, watching reruns of Judge Judy. Her mind slowly lulling itself to sleep as she took the time to relax. She didn't notice herself falling asleep but she did notice when she was moved. Opening her eyes being aware this might not be a friendly face, ignoring how comfortable she felt currently, she was happily surprised to see Jake's face smiling down at her.

"Hey gorgeous, you looked a little uncomfortable on that sofa." He spoke gently as he finished going up the set of stairs and straight into Veronica's room. He placed her gently on the bed in the centre of the room before kicking off his own shoes and lying beside her. Veronica cuddled herself into his side enjoying the natural heat he gave out as she could feel herself drifting back off. The last thing she was aware of before she went back to sleep was Jake pecking her forehead.

It was about 5pm when she awoke again from her nap to look up and see Jake smiling gently down at her. His hands continued to play with her hair as she took a moment to just soak in what was her soulmate. From his perfectly sculptured eyebrows to the bridge of his nose and to his pink lips. How blessed she was to not only be placed with the most attractive man she had ever seen but also her best friend. She would continue to love him for the rest of her life but to know she would forever have her best friend by her side was also amazing. Her studying hadn't gone unnoticed but she didn't care.

"Like what you see Buttercup?" Jake's tone was cheeky as he peered down at her.

"You bet I do." Veronica flirted back giving herself a pat on the back for just how confident her tone sounded. The pair laughed between themselves knowing that this was about as intimate as they got at the moment and that must have been about as confident as Veronica had ever been. The two stilled in whatever they were doing neither sure of where to lead their conversation next but not minding in the slightest.

"The Cullen's party is tonight do you want to go together?" Jake questioned knowing that Charlie had taken Matthew out for the evening so they could go out and enjoy themselves like teenagers if the pair wanted to.

"I would love to, but I got uninvited. We could do something else?" Veronica replied trying to find another alternate for what they could do.

"Bella made me promise to go, why did you get uninvited?" Jake questioned and Veronica realised that she hadn't actually told him about the latest argument between the sisters.

"I told her in an argument that she was delusional." Veronica replied with a shrug and Jake only looked on at her in confusion, it wasn't like she would say that kind of statement without a good reason.

"How did she aggravate you to get you to say those words. I know you wouldn't say anything like that if you didn't believe it to be real Vero."

"She demanded that I back off and leave you alone because you're in love with her and only want to be around me and Matthew to prove to her you can be a good father." Veronica laughed at the end of her explanation as she could still not believe the words her sister had come up with. Jacob obviously found this as funny as she did for he took let out a bark of laughter.

"No way, really? Does she not see how I basically just follow you around like some lost puppy? Jesus is she really missing Vitamin D that much that she wants to go after her younger sisters soulmate?" He laughed as he explained as he tried to pull Veronica closer though it was difficult as they were essentially laid on top of one another anyways.

"Really, really. Then she spurted her normal stuff about Matthew being a mistake. She really needs to get some new material to have any impact. Sure she regrets him but we don't." Veronica's roll of her eyes proved that she wasn't effected by her sisters words as much anymore but Jacob could feel and pang of anger at the older swan sister. He controlled it though knowing if he was to lose control in this moment that he could injure Veronica and that was the last thing he ever wanted to do.

"Now I really don't want to go to the party." He whined out as he tightened his grip on Veronica who was essentially lied directly on top of him. So much so that she lent back slightly so she could card her fingers through his hair.

"Why don't you take Embry and Quil, he'll be safe enough to have around the humans now, with you then you can stay for 15 or so minutes." Veronica offered a solution.

"But I don't want to leave you." Jake continued to whine not even considering the solution presented to him.

"Well, if you go for a little while you can come straight back here. My dad won't care he loves you like his son in law anyways. Just say you wanted to spend some time with Matty as he stole him all afternoon." Veronica offered. Jacob only nodded his head for this seemed like a semi decent plan.

"I still don't want to go though."
