Background

After making billions working in aerospace, the private sector, and military technology fields, Pearce Shaw sought to create his own company to help establish peace and order in the increasingly chaotic world around him. He recruited ex-military members from all over the world to work as agents for Atlas Corp., named after the titan tasked with carrying the weight of the world on its shoulders. Making himself director, Pearce Shaw introduced a research and technology division to the company. He enlisted the help of Archimedes Hamilton, an American engineer, and Rasmus Kane, a Norwegian biochemist, to spearhead it.

Under Shaw's tenure as director, Atlas was used to assist the US and NATO in various conflicts across the globe, serving as a covert faction tasked with handling more sensitive and taboo operations. Despite being based out of America, Atlas holds no specific allegiance to a single nation. However, their views align closely with NATO and the United Nations.

When Rasmus Kane discovered the mutant genotype known as the Prime Gene, efforts were made to research the implications of this discovery. After Kane's desertion, the dark rise of KISMET, and the emergence of Primes, the Prime Task Force was created and is still operational today.

The Acropolis

Built into a mountain range somewhere in Northern Oregon, The Acropolis is a state-of-the-art military base and is home to Atlas Corp. and the Prime Task Force. Due to being built into the face of a mountain, the base holds several levels, some of which go underground. The Acropolis boasts a massive hangar hidden by a waterfall, various anti-air defense systems, and multiple research labs throughout the compound. Many of the agents work and reside within The Acropolis on a permanent basis.

Post-PRA Era

Following the fighting at the Pentagon, Senator Crane received the push in the polls he needed to claim the presidency. He succeeded in getting the PRA accepted by the United Nations, which resulted in Director Pearce Shaw being relieved of his duties as director of Atlas Corp. Now President Crane, he instated General Henry North as the new director of Atlas and all Prime Task Force operations.

During this period, more Primes were recruited to make up for those who left the organization. Those who deserted were branded as The Exiles. On the behalf of the PRA, Director North placed Atlas agents in every major city of the world to aid in apprehending all Primes. Every Prime was forced to register themselves in Atlas' database. Those who refused were arrested and taken to The Vault.

A cure for Prime abilities was also put into development during this period as a way of further reducing the Prime population and providing a "way out" for those who didn't wish to have their powers. Zeo Labs was recruited to work on this project, among others. The cure is still in earlier development stages and is years from being a viable option.

The Jaeger Program

To combat The Exiles and any other rogue Primes, General North greenlit the Jaeger Program. Volunteering Atlas agents were given new armor and weapons capable of giving them a shot at some of the more powerful Primes. The Jaegers operated under different jurisdictions and solely hunted Primes while other Atlas agents partook in other missions.

Project Orion

Upon taking control of Atlas and witnessing the exodus of Primes from the task force, General North determined that depending on other Primes to hunt and kill their own wasn't realistic. So, alongside the Jaeger Program, the new director hired Zeo Labs to create artificial humans with abilities to replace the Prime Task Force. The first subject in this project was named Orion, who in turn became the only subject created before the program was shut down.

Orion was created by Dr. Ingrid Johansson, head of research and development at Zeo Labs, a company that specialized in AI and bioengineering. His body was crafted out of near-indestructible organic tissue and his base DNA was an amalgamation of other Primes.

The raid on The Exiles underground bunker in 2025 was the first unveiling of Orion. After Dr. Johansson attempted to enhance his power by splicing his DNA with Cassie Black's, he managed to overcome his inhibitor chip and programming, causing him to develop a new mission of his own after seeing a glimpse of the future via Cassie's mysterious abilities. As a result, Orion went rogue. In the Battle of the Acropolis, he was destroyed, alongside Cassie Black and most of The Acropolis. The project was swiftly dismantled and swept under the rug shortly after. This failure saw Director North lose his position as director and caused the general public to lose faith in President Crane, who likely won't be reelected in 2026.
