An Unlikely Bond
***Ritas POV***
Dulaque, Dulaque minions, Jared, Megan and I turned to the classrooms closet door, only to see...
"Ah, Jenkins! Perfect timing!" I kept my eyes on Dulaque and his men, "We have these guys AND Morgan Le Fay outside to deal with. I took out all but three of Morgan Le Fays mercenaries... Uh, Jenkins? You okay?" Jenkins didn't stare at me; he was glancing between Megan and his father. "How much have you told her?" Jenkins demanded, a dark look in my friends' eyes. Megan cowered behind me, whimpering like a wounded animal "Now I really wish I had stayed home today!"
Dulaque shrugged, "Hardly anything, really. Rita had too many questions for me to answer." I scoffed, "All which are important questions to ask!" Jenkins turned to the two of us, asking, "Are you two alright?" "We came as fast as we could!" Luke promised, earning himself a glare from Jenkins. But the young golem didn't notice Jenkins growing frustrations as he rambled on, "This school is massive! I'm surprised anyone can find their way around here! I know I would be lost---"
"OW!"
Luke yelped when Jenkins slapped the back of his head, "Okay, okay! Sorry! I'll shut up now." Timothy eyed Dulaque and Jared, whispering something I couldn't hear to Jenkins. My immortal friend looked to me, asking, "Miss Rita, where are the others?" I shrugged, "I have no idea, honestly; when Morgan Le Fays mercenaries attacked the school, things became... Complicated...."
Much to my surprise, Lukes phone began to ring! "Hold that thought; it's Ezekiel." Luke revealed. When Luke turned away to answer the phone, Dulaque asked Megan, "What did Morgan Le Fay tell you?" Megan sideglanced me, almost as if she was asking my permission to speak. I nodded my head, "Its... Fine, I guess. As long as he doesn't ask anything too personal or confidential." Megan nodded her head.
"Well," Megan replied to Dulaques question, "The witch said we share each others blood? That bloodlines are really important to a sorceress? That and she was trying to take me "home", though I have never met that woman in my entire life!?" Megan was growing more and more alarmed as turned her attention to both Jenkins, Dulaque and I, "And then YOU THREE come alone and are wanting to protect me? Why are you're worried what each other has said to me?! What is going on?!? I can't be SOOO important that a couple of old men, a young teenage girl and a lady would want anything to do with me---"
Timothy cut in, "Actually, you'd be surprised; Dulaque, Jenkins, Rita, Morgan Le Fay and myself are about a thousand years old apiece..." Megan's eyes widen in surprise. I placed a hand on Megan's shoulder, chiding Timothy, "That's not relevant right now, Tim! Right now, we need to figure out why Morgan Le Fay wants to kidnap Megan." Dulaque looked between Megan and Jenkins, revealing, "There is more to Megan's connection to Morgan Le Fay, Jenkins and I than meets the eye. Or would you like to guess how all four of us are connected?"
A single thought crept into my mind, causing my heart to skip a beat. "Oh my gosh..." I whispered, eyeing Dulaque "Don't tell me.... Megan, OUR Megan.... is somehow related to you and my formal teacher???" Megan raised an eyebrow, "Whatttttttt? That's insane! I——" "Megan," Jenkins cut in, not to sternly, but hard enough to shut the poor girl up. When my friend tried to take a step closer to us, Megan flinched and moved closer to me again. Jenkins refrained himself from taking another step, though there was a sibling love shining in the immortals eyes, "Please, answer my question to the best of your ability. Have your parents, the Struckers, EVER told you that you were adopted? Anything like that, at all?"
Megan didn't answer. When I turned around, I was surprised by Megan visibly shaking. The girl was staring down at her trembling blood covered hands, her blue eyes almost hidden by her strains of hair. But I could still make out the craziness in her eyes, the fear and adrenaline pumping through her veins. "I... I was adopted, yes, but I.... I never thought I'd.... does that mean.....?"
Megan looked up to both Jenkins and Dulaque, whispering "Am I.... a monster....?" Even Though my friend was confused by Megan's question, Jenkins shook his head, "No, your not. Megan, your the daughter of Morgan Le Fay and Lancelot, sister to me, Galahad. You were not born an immortal, but you are part of us." Jenkins glared at Dulaque as he concluded, but the statement was meant for Megan,
"Our fathers blood runs through our veins."
No one spoke.
No one breathed.
But then——
"WHAT IN THE WORLD OF POKÉMON?!?! I call bull poop, Mr. Jenkins!" Luke burst out, then he quickly apologied to Megan for scaring her further. I felt like all my years caught up with me in a single moment. That's why the Library wanted Megan to become a Librarian: Megan could be a danger to everyone if she joined either of her parents in their missions of evil! And the girl didn't even realized what lay hidden in her own blood. Poor Megan....
Someone began banging on the locked door, calling out, "Jenkins! Rita! Open this door!" "Mrs. Carson?" I raised an eyebrow, as Luke peeked out the door. Luke beamed, "Hey! It's the other Librarians!" "There's more of you guys???" Megan looked as though she were going to panic. I patted Megan's shoulder as Luke let Flynn, Eve, Cassandra, Jacob and Ezekiel into the already cramped classroom.
Tensions were so thick you could stab the air with one of my arrows. Timothy, who had remained neutral until now, asked aloud, "Why don't we work together on this one?" When everyone turned to stare at the werewolf, Timothy explained, "None of us wants to see Megan captured by Le Fay, right? So why don't we work together to get Megan somewhere... safer?"
Jared aimed his gun at Timothy, asking, "And why should we trust you and your friends? You could just take Megan anytime you want with your Magical Door nonsense!" Timothy shrugged "That is true; however, what's stopping Morgan Le Fay from entering the Annex? Or the Library itself? No, we wouldn't use the doors... At least not to connect to the Library anyways."
Dulaque looked to Flynn, Jenkins and the Original Librarians, "Your... friend... does have a point. We can always discuss other issues regarding Megan being my child later. But, for now, shall we join forces and get Megan out of here? Or should we simply fight to the death in this tight, closed off classroom? I'm sure Morgan would be grateful to us if we fought one another to a bloody pulp."
Eve whispered to Flynn, "What other choices do we have?" "Not many," Flynn whispered back, deep in thought over our predicament. Ezekiel spoke up for our side, "Hey, no backstabbing though, right? That would be part of the plan?" Dulaques smile was not comforting in the slightest, but the immortal did reply, "As long as you don't try any funny business, then yes. No backstabbing what so ever." My grip on my bow tightened; we're we really going to———-
"You got a deal, Mr. Dulaque." Flynn decided, taking a step forward and shaking the immortals hands. And just like that, our rivalry was out on the back burner. Now, we have to get out of here so I can punch the smile off of Dulaques stupid face!
