The wolf quickly ran from the scene, scarcely dogging the arrows that flew her way. Eventually the wolf stopped and sat down for a rest. I didn't mean it. I didn't mean it." she looked to the night sky as the pale moonlight created what almost looked like a spotlight that was casted on her. The memory of the night burned in her mind as she looked down in shame. "I have to look for him, to see if he's alright." The wolf's eyes widened slightly. "Why do I care so much about a human anyway? I haven't gotten attached to him have I?" The wolf shook her head, clearing the thought. "No I just feel guilty thats all... right?"
The next night, the wolf circled the perimeter of the kingdom. Trying to find news on the Prince's condition. After a while the Wolf overheard a conversation by two of the guards. "Did you hear about what happened to the Prince?" Said the first guard. Ha! Who hasn't!? Whatever scratched him scratched him good. Maybe to good. After all it blinded em'!" The second guard, who seemed much more blunt then the first broke into laughter at his own comment. Yeah... and the queens heartbroken about it" "but only because she thinks he's a disgrace!"
The wolf was in shock by the bickering guards words,"I thought humans treated their leaders with respect. Their giving him no respect at all! "I heard there gonna execute him in a week." "No... the Queen loves the Prince with all her heart... she'd never let anyone hurt him, disgrace or not. She'll most likely just lock him away." "But that ain't no fun! I would prefer a proper hanging!" "I can't help but agree. We haven't had a proper hanging in a while..." the wolf growled lowly the thought of these to goons laughing as the prince was killed filled her with rage. She bared her claws and stalked closer, undetected.
"You can say that again!" The second guard slapped the first one on the back. "Hey how about we go get something to drink later. Your treat of course!" "Sure! Wait what-" before the second one could respond the wolf pounced and killed them swiftly, before retreating into the woods.
"I will not let them kill him. I swear it." The wolf sat down to catch her breath as she thought of what she told herself earlier. And she decided that perhaps what she was doing wasn't just about guilt after all.
Hey hey! I'm so sorry this took so long! I actually ended up writing more of this but I didn't really like how some of it turned out so I decided to delete it and give it more thought before I added it in. (If you couldn't tell by the quality drop I wrote this all myself) So I hope you don't mind. I'll probably start working on the next chapter today though. So I'll see you guys soon. PEACE!
