"Okay, Snowpaw I want you to catch a mouse before sunhigh. Bring the prey back here and meet me. Remember I will be watching to see how you do," Vixenclaw explained.

"Okay!" Snowpaw replied excitedly.

Several moons had passed since Snowpaw's ceremony. She was improving majorly. Vixenclaw watched her stalk a rabbit.

"Hmm she's a good stalker," Vixenclaw thought silently.

Soon it was sunhigh.

After Snowpaw had made her kill, Vixenclaw came out of the shadows and walked up to her. "Snowpaw I'm very impressed, you will be an amazing hunter. You went above the standard, two mice, and a rabbit!" Vixenclaw meowed surprisingly.

"Thanks, Vixenclaw," The apprentice replied as she turned to see her mentor.

The two of them walked back to camp.

  Snowkit set her rabbit down on the fresh-kill pile.  

Then suddenly an attack broke at the camp.

"RainClan, ATTACK!!!" Was all Vixenclaw heard before several cats jumped out of the bushes.

At the sound of the cry, Vixenclaw immediately rushed Snowpaw over to the apprentice's den, for she did not know how to battle yet. Once they were in the den, Vixenclaw gave her firm directions: "Snowpaw, I want you to stay in this den until the battle is over. Call me if there is any trouble. Understood?"

"Yes Vixenclaw," She replied.

But as Vixenclaw was leaving the den, she heard a loud growl, and Snowpaw screamed.

Vixenclaw turned around to face a large RainClan warrior. He swiped at the apprentice, but Vixenclaw tackled him before the warrior could come in contact with the apprentice again. She scratched his soft belly, and the warrior yelped in pain. He fled from the apprentice's den.

"Go Vixenclaw!" Snowpaw shouted.

Vixenclaw smiled and headed out of the den.

The first cat she saw when she stepped out was Brightstar, RainClan's leader, who was being attacked by Nettlefrost.

Nettlefrost was clawing Brightstar, blood flying everywhere. The two cats howled loudly. Fur was flying to and fro. Brightstar began to screech at him until Nettlefrost cut her shriek short.

Nettlefrost got up off of her, blood covering his claws. For a moment, Brightstar just laid there, unmoving.

A minute went by, still, the leader did not move.

The deputy of RainClan, Wildcloud, noticed the unmoving leader. "RainClan, RETREAT!" He yelled.

The clan fled from the DawnClan territory, shocked.

Most of the clan was rejoicing, but Graystar was just looking at Nettlefrost with cold eyes. She walked up to him.

Vixenclaw just stood there, interested in their conversation.

"Nettlefrost, what have you done?" She asked.

"What do you mean what did I do? I won the battle!" Nettlefrost said, surprised.

"No, you have not won the battle, you have started another one. RainClan is going to declare war on us now, and it will all be your fault."
