~Back at Ordon springs~

Kairi's pov

I slowly re-opened my eyes.  I felt water hit my muzzle and nose; I stood up sneezing and licking my muzzle to dry it off.

‘Great I’m still a wolf.’ I thought.

“Kairi, are you alright?” I heard Link ask behind me.

“Why wouldn't I be I’m just fine.” I snapped.

“Okay. You were knocked out so I was making sure.  I do have a few questions like who is this Chihiro person, and how do you know Zelda?” He questioned.

I growled and snarled” That’s none of your damn concern, your only concern is to rescue those village children, so keep your nose out of people’s business.” I stormed off towards the entrance of the spring.

“I’m sorry Kairi, I didn’t meant to make you upset.” He said trailing behind me.

“You shouldn’t ask so many questions, especially personal ones!” I snapped.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t think they would be so personal.   You can tell me when you want too.  I don’t mind waiting.” He said licking my ear as if apologizing.   If I was probably a human I would be blushing, but it’s just something wolves do.

I pulled my head away “Stop being so nice to me I know what you’re planning, you want to kill me like any other Hylian or human would do.” I glared.

“Why would I want to kill you? I don’t kill my friends” He said with a straight face.

“You’re like everyone else.   You must have heard of my kind, your kind and humans despise us.   You want us dead nothing more.”

“Do you think if I hated you I wouldn't have taken care of you? That I would have given you to those monsters?”

“I just can’t believe you, your kind has done terrible things to me and I can’t forgive them that's all.”

“Not everyone is the same I’m different I swear I am.   I wouldn't let anything harm you, I’m not like any of those other hylians that have caused you pain.”

“How can I be so sure that you won’t kill me when I have my back turned, or betray me in my desperate hour, now if you'll excuse me I have someone to find!”  I said and began to walk.

He ran in front of me not moving and got in my way when I went in a direction.

“Move it.” I ordered with a snarl.

“If you want I’ll help you find this Chihiro person.   Even though I said you could tell me when you wanted to tell me, but I want to know why this person is so special to you.”

“You really want to know?! You really want to know?! She’s the last surviving family member I have! She’s my twin sister! There happy?! You know now!” I walked over to the sand and laid there.

“I-I didn’t know I’m sorry.   Since we both have to go save the children do you mind if I come along to help you find Chihiro with you? I don’t think you should have to lose her if she’s important to you.  I dont think you should go alone either...just encase.”

I lifted my head up and just was speechless a hylian wanted to actually help me.

“You aren’t lying right?”

“I wouldn’t lie about this I’m dead serious.  If someone important to you is in danger I would help you in a heartbeat.  Because you're my friend, or at least I think of you is that.”

 I stood up, walked over to him and licked the side of his face as a thank you.

“You don’t know how much this means to me.  Even though you're helping me if you turn your back on me I won't hesitate to kill you.  Now we should get going and find how to get back to normal.” I walked to the entrance of the spring and stopped.

“So, um what next? Did you think I disappeared? Listen there’s another thing I forgot to tell you two....Don’t you think you can just run off and save your friends, because you can’t. Just beyond that bridge the land is covered in twilight. Last time a shadow beast pulled you threw the curtain of twilight....But if you want to go that way this time, you’ll need the cooperation of someone from the twilight.....like me! So you really have no choice, but to do as I say.  Saving your friends and all that...Well that depends on both of your actions.....Because you can never trust words you know. Right now I want a sword and a shield that’ll suits me. You do understand me, don’t you? So what do you plan to do? While your here dawdling the twilight continues to expand. Come on! Hurry it up!  Also no more lovey dovey stuff, we don't need distractions!”

After Midna explained her demands and what not she went back in my shadow.

I sighed “Well I guess we go back to your village to look for a sword and shield.”

"Lovey dovey stuff? We arent being like that!" Link yelled out.

I started walking more and I didn’t hear me being followed I turned around and saw Link talking what seemed to be Shadow.

“You idiots! We need to get going, now stop your chatting and come on!”

I started running out towards the village and close by was a goblin that had abducted the kids. I growled and leaped on it attacking its throat chomping down on it till it explode into black dust.

“Nice work!” I heard Link from behind.

I spit on the ground a few times “Thanks, but it tasted disgusting.”

We kept running to his house were we saw two more I saw one messing with my weapons and attacked it viciously, and quickly.

“Stupid things don’t mess with my stuff.” I barked.

After Link killed the other one, we ran into the village and stopped when we entered it making sure no one was out. “I’ll get the sword you get the shield and we‘ll meet back at your house.” Link nodded in agreement and set off and I did the same.

~FF to Link's house~

I sat there waiting for Link to get back, after another few minutes went by he came back.

“What took so long?” I growled a little bit.

“We had some trouble with Sera’s husband he called down a hawk to attack us, then we had to scare him that’s basically it, but we got the shield!” he chirped.

“Then lets head back to Faron woods.”

We both started dashing toward the woods when at the spring a gentle voice called out to us from inside.

“Wait.....Come to my spring, You have....been transformed....by the power....of shadow. ..Come .....to me..” right when we go closer to it some weird rocks came flying from the sky surrounding us alongside the area of the spring trapping us inside “Beware....a shadow being...it approaches.”

Then a minute later a shadow beast fell out of the sky, I leapt at it taking my frustration out on it and killed it quickly as it fell dissolved into green rectangles and rushed into the pitch black night sky. We walked a bit closer to the voice, the rocks started glowing like a shining star.  Water droplets went up  and then water droplets fell.  A ball of light rose from the water and it glowed bright like the sun and it all rose up into a ball. The ball was then surrounded by horns, a head stated forming, then by a body of what seemed to be in the shape of a deer’s body then a large tail was at the end of it.

“O brave youths....I am one of the four light spirits that protects Hyrule of the behest of the gods. I am Ordona. The black beast you slayed was a shadow being. It has come to seize the light I wield. My brethren in Hyrule have already had there light stolen by these fell beast. The entire kingdom has been reduced to a nether world ruled by the cursed powers of darkness. The blight will not stop with Hyrule. Before long, the entire world of light will all into the hands of the king who rules the twilight. To save this land from the king of twilight, the lost light must be recovered. The three light spirits that have lost their light must be revived. There is but two who can revive them and redeem this land...both of you. You two have still not discovered your true power. ..Those transformed by the twilight usually can’t recover their original forms...Unless...if you both were to return to Faron woods where you were first transformed....If you two were to revive the light spirit...There by the power of the light spirit you may find the means to regain your other state of being...”

Then it dissipated into small clouds of light and totally vanished.

“Well that answered my question.” I said out of the blue.

I walked out of the spring quickly followed by Link.  We crossed the bridge and got closer to the wall of twilight. Midna appeared out of my shadow and asked if we wanted to go in we both nodded.  She went into the wall, huge orange hand came out and grabbed both of us one at a time.

~In Faron woods~

I stopped walking and felt more weight on my back, I looked over my shoulder to see Midna with the shield on her face and she was holding the sword in one hand.

“Hmm! So these are the weapons you use in your world.” She examined it a little more and swung it around some, I ducked my head lower so I wouldn’t get hit.

“Hey! Watch it you idiot before you cut one of our heads off!” Shadow shouted at her.

“I was testing it out you idiot!” She dropped the shield on my face and the sword in the ground; I was pawing at the shield to get it off.

“You really think this thing can slay the creatures of the twilight? ...Well I won’t use these, but I’ll hang onto them for you!” she snapped her fingers and both weapons vanished into black dust.

“All right a promise, is a promise...I trust you two enough to help....In exchange for my help though...I need you to gather some things for me. Look I can’t tell you all the details now, but it will be easy, trus.t me...But enough about that. Do you hear that? Do you hear that noise? It’s the lamentation of the spirit that had its light stolen...where in the world could it be? Better get going don’t you think? Don’t blame me for your world’s fate if you don’t hurry up and find that light! Come on! Snap to it!” She finally finished and stopped her humming.

"Bossy little imp isn’t she?” Link said with a slight growl.

“I rather have her on my back then Shadow, but if she can help us get the kids and Chihiro then I say go with it.  No matter how bad she is its our only option.” I said.

I started dashing towards on a path with Midna almost falling off.

“Come on! Or I'll leave you two behind!” I barked back at them. 

I continued to run until the path was enlarged in a small opening, then what happened at the Ordon spring happened here.  Red rocks surrounded the area of the opening penning me and Link ended up  getting penned in too. Then a few minutes later, three shadow beings fell on the floor each on each side and one behind us.

“Aww...we’re penned in again! Pfft! Who do they think they’re dealing with? No need to take these little pests on one at a time right? You two can take them all at once! So...You can handle this by yourselves can’t you? Good luck! Bye!” She got off my back.

Her and Shadow retreated outside the pen leaving me and Link to do the dirty work for them.

They enclosed on us and I attacked one of them, then I was knocked down instantly.  I felt like I was being thrown against the clearing, I tumbled a few times and stopped.  The shadow being that tried attacking was coming after me. I stood my ground and growled loudly. It swung its hand and I barley dodged it.   I attacked the back of its throat chomping down harder and jumped off it when it fell. Link was attacking the other one and killed it.   I started running towards the other one when it let out a ear aching shriek.  The shriek was very loud.   What it basically did was bring the other two back to life as if they weren’t down at all.   They came back at us swinging their hands again, I jumped one on and then a weight was on my back again.  I jumped back away from the creature, and turned my head back at Midna.

“What’s the holdup? If you leave the last one alive it’s just going to use that shriek to bring the others back. Listen, let me help you two out here! Just move like I tell you two! Just hold down and I’ll expand an energy field! Enclose all of your enemies within it and attack!” Midna explained.

I crouched down and an energy field was spread around the two of us.  When one of the shadow beings came close it got caught in some kind of electric static surrounded them.   When all were like that, I attacked all of them in a row , they all collapsed and their particles flew into the air.

After we were able to rest for a few minutes,, we ran more and saw the spring.  We went closer and a small ball of dense light spoke to us.

“...I..am a spirit...of...light.....blue and purpled eyed beast. Look ...for my light.....Retrieve the light stolen by the dark beasts..keep it in...this vessel.” We got a crystal thing that looked like a grape pulled off a vine except hollow and crystal it fell into Midna’s hands. “In the Shadows of twilight...the dark insects...invisible...as normal beings...are. here....let me use the last of my power...to reveal the locations of the dark insects...that consume the light...”

 Link walked up beside me and Shadow jumped off his back, and laid out the map and white dots glowed on it.

“Ok, me and Link will go to the northern Faron woods and destroy the bugs there and you two can stay here and do the southern Faron woods.” Shadow instructed.

“Who said you were in charge, these are my rules remember? I must agree that if we spilt up it will go faster.  Just don't get any idea you can give orders, that is my job.”  Midna said

“There are some around where we are, you two turn on your senses will split up around this area.” He said pointing to a small entrance towards the northern woods.

~FF to after killing the dark insects~

I’m guessing the last tear was recovered because I felt a warm tingling sensation go through my body, and I felt myself back at the Faron spring standing on two legs.

I looked up and saw Midna in her ghost form sitting in mid-air “Aww...but it was so nice here in the twilight...What’s so great about the world of light anyway? See you later.” She finished did a flip into the spring and vanished.

The ball of light then rose and an animal what looked like a squirrel with a weird head and a scorpion tail was holding the ball of light close to its body.

“I am one of the spirits of light who dwell in Hyrule. By the order of the gods, I protect this forest. O brave youths....In the land covered in twilight where people roam as spirits, you two were both transformed into a blue and purple eyed beast. That was a sign.....That the powers of the chosen ones rest within each of you......and that they are awakening. Look at your awakened forms...The green tunic that you wear Link belonged to the ancient hero chosen by the gods, and the grabs you wear is from the ancient heroine also chosen by the gods. There powers rest within you. Your names are Link and Kairi you are the hero and heroine chosen by the gods. Brave Link and Kairi....A dark power rests in the temple deep within these woods. It is a forbidden power. Long long ago, I and the other spirits of light locked it away. Because of its nature. It is a power that should never be touched by any who dwell in the light. But this world weeps beneath a mantle of shadows, so there is no choice...You must match the power of the king of shadows. If you would seek this forbidden power, then proceed to the temple in the temple depths.”

Once it was done it dissipated like the other spirits into clouds of light and was totally gone.

 I started inspecting my new outfit I had on, although the shorts I had on were a little short Link was also looking at the green tunic he had on.

“You two sure do like checking yourselves out.” I heard a familiar voice mocking behind us.

“Shut it you idiot” I growled.

“Aw did I hit a nerve” Shadow chuckled.

“Well, well...You’re the chosen heroine and he's the chosen hero and all that huh? So THAT’S why you two turned into those beasts! What a shame...I mean maybe you’d rather just wander as a spirit like the rest of them, totally unaware of what was happening for all eternity..right? So what do you three want to do? Do you want to head to that temple? Well isn’t that convenient! I was about top head there myself. Hey...look! You want to help your friends and your sister right? The way I see it, maybe they’re in the temple waiting for you to rescue them....well good luck Mrs…And Mr. important heroine and hero! See you later!” She went back into my shadow leaving us on what to do.

“So are we going to head to the forest then?” Link asked.

“I want my weapons first, you have yours, but I don’t have mine.” I said walking towards the way to the Ordon province.

“Sooo the person you’re looking for is your sister! I see, I see.” Shadow said smirking.

I started walking faster growling “Just shut up and leave me alone!.”

“You two fighting isn't going to solve anything, we need to work together.” Link warned.

 “Yeah yeah yeah” Shadow said.

~FF to Link’s home~

I ran over to my weapons and picked them up and put them on my back “Thank the goddess there still here.”

“We should probably go tell everyone we’re ok, they’ll be happy to know that.” Link suggested.

I sighed “I’ll take half the village and you do the other half.”

“And I’ll hang out here till you two get back.” Shadow said laying down putting his arms behind the back of his head. I glared and walked into the village with Link following behind me like usual.

~Back at Link’s house~

“You two took a while.” shadow said.

“Just shut up you stupid emo.” I growled.

“Tsk tsk tsk, you need to work on that temper of yours little puppy.” He said standing up and ruffling my hair.

“Hey! Don’t do that it’s in a braid I don’t feel like redoing it” I snapped, fixing my hair.

“Is there any supplies we need to stock on?” Link asked.

“We should eat first before we go, I'm starving.” I informed.

“That would probably be a good idea since we haven’t eaten in a while, I’ll make some soup.” Link offered and climbed into his house, I followed since I didn’t want to stay out here with this pain in the ass.

“Fine, I’ll be out here if you need me.” Shadow said lying back down.

~20 minutes later~

“That was really good, I never knew you cooked.” I commented.

 “Well Uli taught me a few recipes and I experimented here and there when I had the time.” He explained.

I jumped off his ledge and landed on my feet.

“Ok so let’s go to the temple now before its get close to night. It’s still somewhat day light out, we should get there soon” I said walking out into the small forest.

“You know you could stop and wait for a few minutes” Shadow added.

“Why should I you need to keep up, I don’t have all day to wait for a lazy emo” I spat at him continuing with my walk.

“So do you really think that the kids are at the temple” Link asked.

"I would pick up their scent if they were, so it’s a 50-50 chance.” I quoted.

“Well I’m glad, because this way you can pick up their scent encase they are, it will be easier to find them then.”

“Yeah I guess.   It shouldn’t be too far now were already crossing the bridge.” I told him.

“Seems so, well we better be ready what’s going to come at us soon” he told me.

I nodded, we had already crossed the bridge and now we were taking our 3rd visit to the Faron Woods in the last few days, heading to the temple prepared of what we may face soon....
