~Somewhere unknown Kairi's pov~

My ears twitched to the sound of metal clicking and clanging.  My nose smelled the dead, rusty metal, and hay. I groggily sat up, but I was on all fours. I looked at the floor and saw paws instead of hands plus I was chained to something in the ground.   A familiar scent filled my nose.   I peered over to my right and saw Link still sleeping on the ground.  He was a black and silver wolf instead of a Hylian. I had to admit he looked gorgeous those colors looked very well together. I wished I knew what colors I was.  Another scent filled my nose and I peered to my left, and saw a small imp sitting against the wall it had black hair, with a pattern of white, black and blue on it.   This scent smelled like shadow, but it couldn’t be could it. I nudged Link lightly and he got up slowly, looked at his paws, at the chain, then at me.

“Kairi? What happened to you, what happened to me?” he questioned.

“Yes it’s me Link.   I think that’s Shadow, still sleeping in the other cage, but I still don’t know what has happened to us, you’re a wolf, I think I am too?” I questioned myself this time.

“You are, you’re a silver colored wolf.”

“Thanks for telling me, but we need to find a way out of here.”

I sniffed around a pulled on the chains.   They didn’t get me far, but I struggled against them.   After a few minutes got tired of it and began biting it, Link did the same. Our faces were close, to close for my comfort and I pulled me head up quickly.   Then my ears shifted to hear laughter echoing through the cells.  We both turned our heads growling at the figure that showed in the dark. It appeared to be and imp like shadow that had a weird helmet thing on her head, she was female due to her scent and figure.  She had pointed ears black and white pattern with blue markings on her arms, legs and ears. She opened her  one eye more and smiled at us showing a snaggle tooth and jumped in our cage.  Our heads followed her movements.

“I found you two!” she chirped.

Link was growling and I observed her, taking in cautious glances between her and Link.  He was in a defensive stance, hair bristling, ears pointed back and was growling at her. She giggled.

“Oooh! Aren’t you scary!" She taunted Link.

“Eee hee.  Are you sure you want to be doing that snarling and glaring at me? Why can’t you be like your companion there and be nice. I was planning on helping you if you were nice as well.”

She loved to tease Link it seemed, or at least that was in my opinion. He stopped and got into a better stance.  I walked over so I was standing next to him in case she were to go back on her word.

“That's much better! You humans are obedient to a fault aren’t you? Oooohh! But you AREN’T human anymore are you? You’re both beasts! She patted out chins up whiling speaking and I tried biting her, but she jumped back. “There there, you be a good girl and calm down like you were a minute ago. No need to bite!” She finished.   She put her hands into a position as if holding a sphere and she used some kind of magic that cut our chains.

I sniffed it in curiosity and she got in my face.

“You look kind of surprised!” She giggled. She jumped up floating and began dissolving.

“So! I bet you’re both wondering were exactly are we?!”

She spun around and went through the bars into small parts and reappeared standing on the ground whole.

“Well I’ll make you a deal. If you can get over here, maybe I’ll tell you!” She beckoned us with her hand, stretched and yawned putting her arms behind her head.

I looked around the front of the cell, and notice some stuff piled up what looked to be like a hole or something.

“Link over here!” I barked.

He walked over and sniffed the pile of junk.   I quickly spun around pretty fast like I do with my sword, but with my new wolf body and it destroyed the junk.

“Great job!” He said.

I nodded and dug the hole deeper making my way to the other side and Link followed suit.

We heard more giggling, I felt a weight on my back, so I started twirling around trying to get it off.

“Hmph! I guess you’re not completely stupid after all!  But you can stop your jumping it’s just me.” She patted my back.

I felt like a horse with her on my back.  I knew what Eclipse felt like when I rode her.

"Listen I like you two, so I think I’ll get you both out of here and possibly that other imp too.”

As if she didn’t think I was listening enough she tugged on my ear and pulled it back causing my head to go up.

“But in exchange for my help you have to do EXACTLY as I say! If you need anything from me, just give me a sign! So, were all clear? Good. Now, come on! Get moving!”

She kicked me back with her small feet, but I still didn’t like it.   I growled and tried bucking more like a horse seeing if that would get her off.

“Listen for you to get out you need me, so stop with your bucking and jumping and listen to me.” she ordered kicking again.

 I growled and stopped, then walked into the other cell that had Shadow in it.   Link followed like he was a lost puppy, he went over and nudged him since he knew I wouldn’t do it.  I continued over to a chain that hanged above the ceiling.

“Huh? What’s that? You should know how to do this.”

The small Imp reminded me of a few minutes earlier, I jumped and bit the chain pulling some bars from a tunnel up, it looked big enough for both of us to run in.

“Well well, don’t we look furry today.” A voice I knew too well spoke up.

I turned my head to see Shadow on Link’s back.

“If you wouldn’t mind I want to switch rides” He spoke to the other Imp that was on my back.

“Buzz off, I have my ride you have yours. I made a deal with these two, so they have to listen to ME! So don’t go thinking you can tell me what to do, these are my rules.  Since youre with them means I'm the boss of you too!” She shouted at him.

He sighed and smirked, “Fine fine but that doesn't mean I’ll give up.”

“You’re an idiot, now come on get going!” She said kicking my ribs again.

I raced through the small tunnel and landed near a green flame that was floating in midair.

“Oh...well.....well Want to see something interesting? You’re a beast you should know what to do? Use your senses and poke around.....”

I used mine and the green flame was actually a solider cowering in fear I was guessing this was animals 6th sense.

We went up closer and listened to what the solider was saying, “Huff...Huff....Can’t ....run..any...farther..That’s...far...enough....right? I’ll be safe here...I think.....What’s that noise? Don’t...Don’t come anywhere near me!”

We turned off our senses and run away from it along a ledge sort of thing.

“That was a soldier's spirit. Maybe it’s something from the other world? There are lots of other spirits roaming about here, you know. Hone your senses to see them. They might know things...” The female imp informed us.

~FF~

We made it out of the dungeon place it seemed like.  We were fighting small black creatures and met more spirits. We made it outside, this place seemed familiar.

‘Wait! It couldn’t be? Maybe I’m thinking strange things.’

I glanced at the sky black specks of things or something were going into the sky there were black monsters flying about.

“So we were finally able to get out. And look at the sky! Isn’t the black clouds of twilight looking beautiful today? Do you know where this is? STILL don’t know? Look there’s someone I want introduce to you....but I’ll need you to go to that tower to do it!”  The female imp informed. 

 “Kairi, wake up!” Link barked at me.

I blinked a few times coming out of my trance.

“You know that's getting annoying, I was thinking.” I growled.

“Sorry, but we have to go to that tower over there, and-”

“You need to stop daydreaming and get going.   We don’t have all day.” The Imp on back shouted in my ear.

I Growled louder and started running towards where we needed to go.

~FF to the tower~

After escaping from the monsters chasing after us, we leaped off an edge and landed on stairs that seem to lead somewhere.  We ran up them and it lead to two huge metal doors, one was halfway open, I pushed on it slowly opening it more and saw a figure covered in a long black robe peering out the window that let you see outside.

'This scent smells familiar! It couldn’t be!?'

 I walked closer smelling more and more, the figure turned around startled by our presence.

“Midna!?” The figure spoke.   I would recognize that voice anywhere.

“You remembered my name? What an honor for me....”

I backed up a little and started whimpering.  The figure crouched down in front of me and petted my head. It looked in my eyes,  then at something on my neck it picked it up.  It looked like I was wearing my necklace the whole time.

 “Kairi? It couldn't be you, is it? What happened to you? “She asked, petting my head more.

'I knew it! It's Zelda! She's alive!.' I barked excitdely

“You two know each other?” Midna asked.

“We do, but these were the two you were searching for?” Zelda asked/

 There not what I had in mind, but I guess they’ll do, the male imp is part of the package I guess.” She said nonchantly.

 She examined my new animal body further, and then lowered her head.   Her eyes stayed fixed at my lower right leg that had the chain on it.

“You were imprisoned....I’m sorry.” She petted my muzzle and I nuzzled it softly to reassure her it was going to be ok.

“Where is Chihiro? Is she ok?” She asked.

I whimpered louder and walked closer. Inuzzled her chest since I couldn't talk to her. I was trying to give her a sign that it wasn’t all right with Chihiro. She hugged my head, I felt a tear fall on my head.

“You poor thing..They're leaving one after another aren't they” She whispered.

I whimpered more and nuzzled more.

“Poor things they don’t have any clue what's going on or what’s happening...So don't you think you should explain to them what you managed to do you owe them that much....Twilight princess!”

I backed up a little and looked at her as if trying to ask her why she is this “Twilight princess.” She lowered her head and looked back at me.

“Listen carefully....This was once the lands where the power of the gods was said to slumber. This was once the kingdom of hyrule. But that blessed kingdom has been transformed by the king that rules the Twilight.....It has been turned into a world of shadows, ruled by creatures that shun the light.”

We got images in our heads of the castle being attacked, it was the throne room it seemed soldiers were scattered around 5 or so by Zelda then black smoke busted inside blocking the soldier’s vision and the same black monsters that had grabbed me and Link ran out of it. The soldiers ran to them and started to attack but it was too much for them, some were pinned others hanged by the neck. A strange creature walked in.   It had a fish helmet thing,  it asked for her to ether choose life or death, Zelda dropped her sword and that was the end of our vision.

“The kingdom succumbed to Twilight, but I remain its princess....She lifted the hood off her head.

“I am Zelda.”

“You don’t have to look so sad! We actually find it to be quite livable! I mean, is perpetual twilight really all that bad?”

“Midna...this is no time for levity. The Shadow beasts have been searching far and wide for you. Why is this?’ Midna leapt off my back I  turned to see her floating in the air, legs criss crossed and she had her back turned to us.

 “Why indeed? You tell me” She replied shrugging he shoulders.

“Time has grown short and the guards will make his rounds soon. You must leave here quickly!” Zelda informed.

Midna plopped back down on my back and I whimpered.  I nuzzled Zelda’s hand, I didn’t want to leave her, she’s in danger I can't leave her. She petted my ears.

“We’ll see each other again, but you must find Chihiro. Who knows where she is, I’ll be just fine, but you need to escape with them” She crouched down and kissed my head rubbing her face on my muzzle.

“Now go.” She ordered.

I nodded and rushed out the door with Link and Shadow at my heels, half way down the stairs Midna pulled my ear and pushed my head low, making Link bump into me.

“Not that way! The guards coming! Boy he's prompt! “Midna informed.

So we went back the way we came as we walked carefully outside. Midna floated to the end of the roof of the house or something we were on. I walked carefully over with Link behind me like usual Midna turned around still floating.

“Well? Do you understand where we are now? I guess a promise is a promise I’ll send you back where you first tumbled into the twilight....But....are you really sure you should go back? Are you sure you aren’t forgetting anything important?”

In the blink of an eye, she turned into Colin and llia taunting us in a way she knew that would get under our skins at least Link’s.

“Do you want to save them, and what about that Chihiro Zelda and you were talking about eh? Kairi? Well, in that case little Midna would be happy to help you! But....You’d have to be my servant...and like a servant you have to do exactly as I say! Why don’t you go back, give it some thought.” She finished and we started to dissolve rapidly into small particles not knowing where exactly where we we’re going to be taken back too.
