The legend of zelda: Twilight princess chapter 2

(on the right is what Shadow looks like)

Kairi's pov

I was still in the dark abyss.   I slept peacefully, but it was weird I didn't dream of anything.  All I could hear was voices talking to each other, and the voices sounded like children.

"I heard that a man named Shadow saved her from monsters in Hyrule field.  Thats what my parents said anyways." A girl like voice spoke.

"LOOK SHE HAS EARS!"

I woke up to the shouting in my ear, I looked in front of me to see 3 children standing in front of me, one was a girl with light brown hair, had blue eyes, freckles across her nose, and a purple choker on.

The other three were boys; one with blonde hair and the other two had brown hair.  The two boys  had similar scents I guessed that they must be related. The boy on the far left of the two with brown hair, the one that shouted in my ears had brown hair, with dark colored eyes he had a bandanna in his hair.   The other boy was next to him.  He seemed to be the smallest out of the group he had a baby face, with short brown hair that was tied in a little ponytail standing at the top of his head, he had a long shirt on that draped on the floor dirty from being dragged. Last was the boy on my left, he looked timid than the others he had blonde hair and sky blue eyes. He also had a white shirt on with capris they all had similar clothes that link wore. I quickly got up and climbed up the tree, and growled, I liked kids, but still I can't trust anyone except Chihiro and Zelda, when that brown haired boy with the bandanna said she has ears I knew they were told about me.

“WOW! Can you teach me how to climb that fast?!" The boy with the red bandanna asked with excitment in his voice.

"No! Leave me alone." I growled.

"Well I can see you met the village children" A familiar voice spoke.

I looked over to see Link standing in front of his door and he jumped off the ledge and landed on his feet.

"Why don't you come down, so I can introduce you all." He called to me.

"No." I said quickly.

"Hey Talo want me to teach you how to use a sword?”  Link asked the tallest brown hair boy that was  probably named Talo.

"YEAH!" He cheerfully shouted.

"Well grab that sword right there and we'll practice" Link said not looking up at me.

I quickly got down and grabbed my sword before the kid Talo could.

"Oh, is this your sword?!" Talo called out.

"Yes and no one is to touch it without my permission." I growled at Link, but he just smiled innocently.

"Now that you have come down from your tree.   These are the kids that live in the village this one is Talo as you know since you were awaken from him i believe"

"Yes, hes lucky I havent gone deaf otherwise I wouldn't be too happy." I said grumply folding my arms while Link stood there chuckling.

" The small one is Malo Talos younger brother, this is Beth, and right here is Colin." He pointed to each of the children as he said the names. " I still don't know your name and I keep forgetting to ask you."  He said.

"Kairi." I mumbled.

"Oh do you come from the castle" Beth asked, I stiffened at the word castle since that was always a place I dreaded.

"No, I live away from the castle" I said.

"So how did you get those ears?" Colin asked shyly.

"I don't want to talk about it." I said with an annoied face.

"Link did you hear that Beth's family is selling a slingshot" Malo informed him with the excitment still in his voice.

 "No I didn't." Link replied.

"Link I also made you a fishing rod, so we can go fishing sometime" Colin said.

“I’ll go pick it up right now then, Kairi can you watch them while I’m gone?” Link asked.

“Fine” I grumbled.

Link walked off toward the village leaving me with the children and I have a feeling on who’s going to talk first.

“Kairi! Where did you get your sword from?” Talo exclaimed looking at me with his big eyes filled with exctiement and curiosity.

“My father helped me make it, and if you’ll excuse me I need to go somewhere.” I said and walked off to the spring leaving the kids confused and disappointed.

Link’s pov

After leaving Kairi with the village children I decided to see if anyone needed my help, and go get the sling shot the kids were talking about. After finding some rupees in pumpkins, and grass and some in high places I found Uil standing by the end of the small stream, I walked over to see what she was doing.

“Uil is something wrong?” I asked.

“Oh link, you haven’t seen a cradle float by here have you? It’s a baby cradle made of finely wooden tree bark....Oh such misfortune..I wonder how far it drifted.” She sighed.

“I’ll keep an eye out for it.” I assured her.

“That means a lot thank you Link.” She said.

I was running back towards my house when I heard a voice call from above, I looked up to see Jaggle sitting one of the rock formations with vines on it.

“Hey Link, trying talking to me from there. Hey there you go! Over here. Yeah! Your voice carries well as usual! Think you can teach my tykes to talk to someone from a distance. So listen, why don’t you climb up those vines there Link.” he sat back down and I couldn’t see him anymore.

I climbed up the vines and saw him stand up again.

“Yo there you are. Check this out...You know Sera at the general store? Well isn’t that her cat over there? He’s been there over by my house, having a staring contest with the creek. You don’t suppose he’s thinking he’s going to catch a fish do you? Ha ha ha! A fish can’t catch a fish. Anyway that’s not what I was meaning to tell you about. I want you to take a look at something... See that grass growing on the edge of the rock? Haven’t I seen you whistling with that stuff? I figured it was pretty rare seeing it grow in a place like that, so I thought I let you know. I bet you could easily hop over to those rocks.” He finished and sat back down enjoying the sun.

I remembered about sera’s husband complaining about a bee’s nest on the tree above his shop, I leapt over to the grass and blew it a few minutes a hawk came over and landed on my arm. I turned around and aimed it at the bee’s nest, it hit it knocking it down. I saw out of the corner of my eye more hawk grass, when I leapt over to the rock that had it growing I heard squeaking I saw a monkey farther back on a rock holding what seemed to be a cradle.

‘That must be the cradle Uil is looking for.’

I grabbed a piece of hawk grass, blew and the hawk came again I aimed it to go to the monkey, it took off returning the cradle to me as it came back... I leapt of the rocks and towards Uil, she turned to me surprised.

“Oh! Link that cradle! Did you go to the trouble of finding it for me? My thanks to you.  Oh that reminds me! There is something I’m supposed to give you... Do you think you could carry that cradle and come back with me to my house?” she asked, I nodded and we walked back to her house when we got there she gave me a fishing rod.

“It is a little unpolished. My son, Colin made this under the instruction of his father. You can use it if you want. I ran over to where Sera’s cat was by the pond, I decided to catch a fish for him. After I caught a fish, I released it and it landed on the ground while it was sera’s cat took it back to Sera's house. I ran back to sera’s house went inside, and found sera watching her cat drinking milk. I walked over and she was excited when she talked.

“Oh my link! You must simply hear this! Just take a look my little kitty Link came back! And he brought a fish back with him. Must have been worried that I was angry ohhh... Just look! Isn’t he so cute the way he laps up that milk. Say m’dear why don’t you have some to, I’m in a good mood so it’s on the house.”

She gave me the bottle she had been drinking out of, then I asked for the slingshot she gave it to me and I went back to my house. A few minutes later I got there Rusl was heading back to the village, he told me he had dropped something in my home then he continued to head towards the village. I looked at the kids and around everywhere else, but didn’t see Kairi anywhere.

“If you’re wondering where Kairi went she’s at the spring again: Shadows voice called above me and I saw him resting in a tree.

“If you want I can go get her.” He offered.

“If you want to.   Just don't make her cause any commotion.  From last time I assume she wasn't happy when you two came back from the spring. ” I called back.

"Oh it'll be fine, she is a woman and has her mood swings." I nonchantly said with a chuckle.

After he had said that, he jumped from the tree totally unharmed.  He then walked towards the spring. I walked over to the kids and showed them the slingshot. They set some dummies with pumpkin heads with a bucket on each, and in trees they had set up targets for me to test out the. After I was done with practice, I went inside my house to see what Rusl had put inside. Once I opened the door and closed it I saw a chest.  I walked over and opened it and pulled out a wooden sword it looked pretty well built, so it should come in good use. I went back outside, the kids spotted me and asked if I could show them some moves. After a few minutes of practicing Talo was going on about how he would teach the monkeys that were causing trouble a lesson I laughed a little at that.   I heard him gasp and everyone looked near the exit to the forest and there stood the monkey.   After we saw it, it ran back towards the forest and the kids went after it. Before I could stop them they were already gone, I got on Epona and chased after them.

~Kairi’s pov~

I sat on the sand thinking about how I was going to get Chihiro back when that gate up head was locked. I got so frustrated I clenched my hand and slammed in into the water causing the water to splash and get me slightly wet.

“If only I could get that key.” I sighed.

“What key? Is lil wolfie going to go do a little stealing?”

I looked behind to see Shadow standing behind me with a smug look on his face. I glared at him and stood up my ears perked.  I sniffed the air to smell monkey, and Talo’s scent coming up.  I looked out of the spring to see the monkey running with Talo running after her. Malo stopped at the spring. I walked out with Shadow following me.

“Malo, why is Talo chasing that monkey.” I asked annoyed.

“Talo was going to show that monkeys who boss, it’s been causing trouble for everyone.” He answered.

Even as much as I didn’t know these kids I still liked children and I really disliked families getting separated, so I started chasing after Talo.

“Kairi, wait up!” A voice followed by horse noises and hooves were trailing behind me. I stopped and saw Link riding on Epona in the same way I was going in.

“What do you want, I’m a little busy.”

“It will be faster if you just ride with me.”

“I can run just as fine as you can ride.” He had Epona trot past me, but before she past me all the way he grabbed my arm and swung me up.

“Hey what’s the big idea?!”

“Just stay on, we have to get Talo back before he gets hurt.”

I grunted in annoyance and hung on to him anyways a slight blush forming on my face as I wasn’t ever close to a boy before, and I felt actually safe with him. I shook my head and held on less, we reached a familiar place called the Faron woods.   Past the spring we came across a dark tunnel, and to our left was a rundown house with a small man with an afro sitting.

“It’s dark in the cave, maybe he has a lantern we can borrow.”

Before Link told me anything else, I had jumped off the horse and rushed over to the man. He gave me the lantern already filled with oil and ready to go. I thanked him in a whisper and ran back to the tunnel. Link was trying to get Epona to go forward, but something was spooking her. I looked forward to see a plant, I walked a little bit closer and a vine with a head came up it showed its sharp teeth.   It tried to lunge forward at me, but was held by its root. I took out my sword and killed it

“Link, Epona isn’t going to go any further, so come on I have the lantern we can go now.”

He nodded hopped off Epona and followed me as we headed in, but something on the ground caught my eye I picked up the stick that was in the ground.  The stick had Talo‘s scent on it and it was fresh.

“That’s Talo’s he used it to practice his sword moves.”

I put it down seeing no use for it, and continue to walk inside with Link following close behind since I had the lantern. About 5 minutes later we finally made it out. There was a large field like thing with branches sticking out and huge stone columns I followed the scent and it lead to a small cave with a monster and a chest laying in it. I killed the monster and opened the chest to reveal a key.   We made it to a gate that was locked on our side.   I unlocked it, killed the monster and walked in.

“Link its all clear come on, or I’ll go ahead without you.”

He ran up to me after he killed the monster and we ran and headed into a large field like area with some grass in some corners, there was a huge bridge leaning on a side with two creatures in the middle of it and they seemed to be talking. I pulled out an arrow and shot on then shot another killing both.

 “Good job.” Link congratulated.

 “Thanks I guess.”

I ran forward following Talo’s scent and came across another monster, killed it and stopped. I looked at the path that lead to a huge tree.   I squinted my eyes and was able to see Talo and the monkey in a wooden cage.

 “They’re up there.”

I pointed up to where I saw them at, and he nodded and proceeded up the hill like path.   We got there killed the monsters and rescued Talo and the monkey.

The monkey went somewhere and we took Talo back to the village. It was sunset and I decided to get some sleep. Once I saw Link go inside his house I got up, grabbed my stuff, and headed towards the gate before I could go to the forest part near the spring a black wall blocked the way.

“Now where were you thinking of going.” I turned around and of course I saw Shadow.

“What’s it to yeah, I’m going home.”

“You’re staying here, its dark out and there are monsters everywhere still.  You saw today while on your little adventure, you need to get some rest.”

I glared at him and sighed, walked over to my bed house thing and laid down.

“Good puppy, you better stay because I’ll chase after you.”

I heard the door to Link’s house close again, I thought that I might as well stay for one more day to make sure everything is okay.   I settled in and fell asleep.
