The legend of zelda: Twilight princess- chapter 10
~Kairi's pov~
I got up slowly, stood up then felt that same burning feeling that made me shape shift into my wolf self once again. Midna was my back yet again as well. I got use to having her weight on my back even if I only had her a few times on before.
"All right then, I guess I have to help you! But what a shame that this is the last of the twilight...I had become so fond of seeing it covering this world... Or is it really the last you'll see? So shall we get going? Eee hee hee." Midna giggled at the end patting my ribs before kicking me there, and I began trotting then running.
Link and I with Midna on my back and Shadow on his back ran down this tunnel like road that had rocky walls. We ran for a few minutes then up ahead was a familiar purse in the middle of it.
Link ran over and smelled it. I approached it a minute later after catching up.
"It's Illia's!" Link barked.
I sniffed it a few times getting the scent clear in my head and nodded.
"You smell the girl don't you? I can tell by the looks on your faces. Well good. It's another clue, then. But this scent could be quite old...I wonder if she's still alright?" Midna stated.
I nodded to link and took off with him following. I knew this was the province that my home was in. We followed the scent using our senses and came across the castle that looked far back. My house was just over that bridge, ignoring the scent trail I dashed to it.
"Kairi!?" Link barked at me and I could hear the footsteps of him pounding the ground as he chased me along. I kept running like I was on a mission and I certainly was.
"Hey what are you doing?! I'm pretty sure the scent trail goes inside to the castle!" Midna yelled at me.
I saw monsters trying to break into the cabin home. They tried busting the door down when the windows were already broken. I viciously attacked them killing them in one bite each. I jumped through a window and looked through the house not much of it was destroyed, only a few books that didn't have much use or that was important, along with a few vases other then that it was in tact. My mouth turned into a sad frown as memories of my parents played through my head and how we had so much fun at this cabin.
"So is this your home?" Midna pondered standing up on my back and looking at everything. I looked down with a slight nod.
"I see...well lets get going we can't stay here all day remember? We have to find the spirit."
I huffed at her carelessness, like she didn't care at what had happened to my home at all, but shrugging my shoulders I rolled her rudeness off my head like a ball and let it roll someplace else.
"Don't get huffy with me! We need to find the spirit, collect the light and then we can come back and you can wallow around your home all sad like." She commented.
I was so ready to bite her, but then again she was right. That was why I among with Link, were chosen to do to defeat the King of Darkness and restoring peace and balance to Hyrule. I leaped out of the same window and looked around the front for Link. I spotted him near the grave probably reading what it says, I walked over and sat by him.
"These your parents?" He asked.
I looked down again and slowly nodded.
"I'm so sorry..." He said closing his eyes and also lowering his head in shame for asking it.
I shook my head and stood on all fours.
"I can't change anything so..I'm fine with what happened. They aren't in pain anymore, and I still have Chihiro so I'm never alone since they're watching over me." I said.
He stood up to and nodded, then we both begun back on the trail of Illa's scent heading around to the front of the castle. We defeated monsters here and there. That also included twilight messengers. We arrived in the castle town still following the scent. I had a emotionless face on even though I was burning with hatred for the town people that's spirits were roaming around where we stood. Soon enough we followed the scent leading us to Telma's bar. As we entered, I instantly relaxed since Telma was like an aunt to me. Always caring for me and my sister, and helping us know how to pick up guys so that they would pay for dinner. We never did that, but she said it couldn't hurt to know. Unlike others Telma wasn't one to judge enless they were evil and thats what I loved about her. She didnt judge us by our race and her and my dad and mom became good friends with her.
I sniffed around spotting guards surrounding a table and Illa sitting on a bucket in front a a zora.
'A Zora!?' I trotted quickly over and recognized he was the prince. What was he doing out here?
"This boy...Can you save him!?" Illia asked Telma since she didn't know we were there and would never know that's who she could talk to really.
"All right, little lady try to settle down OK?! I just now sent for the doctor! But this is strange....A child of the zoras? I wonder if this is related to the incident the soldiers were talking about about in the back..." Telma questioned.
"Aw, what an emotional reunion! Yes, a girl and her wolf! Sorry, but you know how it goes! These folks can't see you ether.." Midna stated.
I trotted to the back and the castle soldiers were surrounding a table that had a map of Hyrule on it. They were talking about an incident involving the drought of the lake.
"Well seems we know where our destination is." Shadow yawned.
It was nice and quiet without him I'm surprised he quiet the whole time.
We ran out of the castle town, and followed where the trails were finally reaching the bridge above the lake. Link and I raced across it reaching the middle I slowed down.
"...Hey do you smell something funny?" Midna pondered asking all of us.
My nose did twitch at a odor that seemed to be all around us. I lowered my head and sniffed smelling gasoline a stench that stunk highly. Link was growling. I looked up seeing a creature at the other end of the bridge. It pulled out an arrow lit on fire and shot it. It flew above our heads across the bridge to the other side. I turned around and the gasoline caught on fire and was rapidly coming towards us. Where the monster was, fire was coming towards us in that direction.
"There's boxes up ahead jump on them and lets get out of here!" Shadow shouted pointing ahead there was boxes up ahead leaning against the sides.
Link ran in front of me and I followed.Link pushed the boxes closer to the edge.
"Hurry go!" He barked.
I nodded, hopped on it, gulped then jumped off the bridge closing my eyes waiting for the splash of water to break my fall. There was a splash when I landed not as big of one I would have had, but it was better then landing on hard ground.
There was a splash next to me, turning my head Link was floating up and shook his head.
"Phew...that was a close one good thing a puddle was below us, huh? So this is lake Hylia? But there's so little water...It sounds like the spirit's spring should be around here as well...Anyway's lets take a look around.."Midna said.
Link and I swam to the shore and listened to the Zoras talking about the drought that was going on, and how the water had stopped coming from the domain. Sniffing around, out of the corner of my eye I spotted old man Fyer. I raced over there and listened to what he had to say leaving Link standing there by himself. Fyer talked about how the problem was with the lake having to little water. He wondered if it was a curse from the spirit or if the Zora's did something in their domain. He thought he spotted a customer, but it turned out to be another monster.
"Link!?" I hollered to him and ran over to the monster.
Link rushed in front of me tackling and biting the monster. It fell backwards looked around knowing it was out numbered and matched. It spotted the hawk grass and walked quickly to it blowing it making the call that came from it. My ears perked, lifted my head to the dark sky, spotting a twilight bird flying down to the monster hovering above the ground as it got on it.
~FF to defeating the creature~
The Twilight bird hovered above the ground. I felt Midna get off my back and land on the bird. It thrashed around, she used her orange hand to take control as it calmed down. I turned my head at the sound of the hawk grass being used again, but by Shadow this time as he called another one of the beastly birds over. He was doing the same thing as Midna. He controlled it to pick Link up by its feet. Midna of course did the same since there really wasn't any other way to bring us along. The beasts controlled by the imps flew to the entrance and we headed towards the zora's domain.
~FF to the top of the upper river~
The birds dropped all of us off near the boat rental shop, we were in the upper zoras river part of their domain. The air felt colder for some reason, but I shrugged it off thinking it was my imagination.
"Ah we're already here?! That bird turned out to be more useful then expected. Well then...Where's the village of the zoras? Let's look for it. It's getting cold. Hurry up!" Midna ordered.
So it is getting colder, I wondered why.
~FF to after freeing the Zoras~
"I bet Zant was the one who imprisoned all of them in that huge block of ice!" Link jumped to conclusion.
"He could have i don't know." I answered.
The zoras spirits were all around the center of there imprisoned place huffing or coughing out the water they had been in for such a long time. We were on the side of the flowing water standing there. I looked at all the spirits. I felt sorry for the Zoras they shouldn't have had to endure that. If they didnt have gils they would have died eventually.
"Who knew something so dangerous could come in handy..All right...the Zoras are safe now...Lets go." Midna yet again ordered.
Link and I turned around and began running down the rocky pavement.
"Wait!" A voice spoke to us.
I turned around and walked back to where it came from Link followed. The spirit of queen of the Zoras had appeared before me. My father had told me about her and she was indeed beautiful, but I wonder why she is a different looking spirit from the others.
"Please, you must allow me to thank you revitalizing both my people and the spring which is the water source for all the people in Hyrule. In life I was the elder of this Zora village and the queen of my people, I was called Rutela. The dark ones,,They raided this village and, as a message to my people, executed me before them. Young man and women...Who take forms of proud beasts...I have something to ask of you.. When the dark ones descended upon our village, I sent my young one, Ralis, to hyrule castle to inform Princess Zelda of our fate. But...I fear danger followed him from this doomed place. I feel it. His presence grows fainter to me over time. But my time in this world has passed, and though I would give it gladly, I no longer have a life to risk in his rescue. Please...Would you two save my dearest, Prince Ralis? If you two do this thing, I will bestow upon you both the protection of water. This power will grant you the ability to swim and respire in very deep water as if you were a zora. Please...save my son.." With her last words she faded away.
I lowered my head saying a prayer for her inside my head and sighed.
"Hmm..So if we help her, she'll grant both of you the power to swim in deep water like a Zora huh? So..What do you say Heroine?" Midna asked me rubbing my neck and patting it.
I stretched and began walking towards the waterfall.
"We're going to help him right?" Link barked.
I nodded and began running. I jumped off the edge into the water then floated all the way down.
~FF to getting all the tears of light because im lazy! :p~
The last of the twilight was finally gone, Link , Shadow and I were to our normal selves standing on a cliff like thing in the spring. A great, large splash was made, and a golden like snake with the ball of light in its mouth was in our faces. It was obviously the spirit, but still it scared me.
"My name is Lanayru. Your efforts at last restored each of us light spirits in Hyrule. O hero and heroin chosen by the gods...The dark power that you seek...It waits in a temple set in the bed of Lake Hylia. ...But before seeking it you must now bear witness to something...and never forget. You must know that is was the will of the goddesses that we lock away the forbidden power. " I closed me eyes unaware at what the spirit was going to show us next.
~Dream~
I awoke to see nothing but a darkness around me, I was in my clothes I had worn before i was captured and everything else happened. I had seen my sister next to me we were both so happy the same field our house was at, and the river flowing was soothing to my ears. I closed my eyes to enjoy it..after i opened them..it turned to black soulless universe as if i was in a different dimension.
"You may see the magic as it is..but others you dearly care about might not..keep in mind any other creature that comes in contact with this terrible dark magic may never return to there true state." A voice called to me.
I looked around for chihiro, but found no one near me, or beside me like she was. I sniffed around to see if I could smell her...but nothing. I began to run to no where, but I needed to find her. I saw a light and ran to it but i got no place as the light felt like it kept drifting as I got closer. I stopped and stared at my hands.
"Why..Why can't i find her?!" I shouted out into the engulfing darkness around me.
Then a strong gust of wind knocked me down. I got up to see Chihiro reaching to one of the dark magic pieces.
"Kairi! I got it for you! I go-"
Her voice had turned into a pitching scream as the magic piece absorbed into her body and her whole body exploded into dust then reformed into something else terrifying. I watched in horror as she changed into a horrible creature. The screaming ceased and replaced it was heavy breathing and dripping of a liquid. I looked at it and blood dripped down her arms and then dried into twilight symbols like on the curtains of twilight we enter through. She had giant ears that matched her new body and a large tail, she had more adult woman looking eyes that were a piercing silver with a hint of crimson red swirling in it. Her nails had grown to a long dangerous, sharp point, her skin turned snowy white with her long flowing, ocean blue hair that reached her hips. I
n her hair were silver streaks and over her skin were the same symbols as her arms.
"C-C-Chihiro?" I asked with tears flowing down my face at the site of my new sister.
She just looked at me with a cold stare. It felt like a sword had stabbed my heart and was twisting it felt very real as if it was actualy happening. I began screaming and holding my head.
"I'ts not real!! It's not!" I cowered and shut my eyes I had never been so scared before my only family member was a pure monster an impostor.
Everything lit up and Chihiro was completely gone.
"Now..you know the dangerous of the black magic and what a innocent creature can become because of it." The voice from earlier spoke.
I lifted my head and panted holding where my heart was located on my chest.
"It..wont ever happen..never.." I awoke from fantasy to see Link looking at me with worry.
"Kairi are you okay? You screamed, blacked out, and your as pale as a ghost." He said holding my shoulders.
"I-It's nothing.." I replied walking out of the cave into the sun and into the real world.
