Arc 1: The Emerald Forest
"Alright, this is it!" smiled Oni grabbing her weapons from her locker, "No more talking, it's time to show everyone what I'm made of!"
"You're gonna be great!" smiled Daku.
"Thanks, Daku," Oni smiled as she watched Daku attach a metal belt, with two spikes sticking out the sides, "Say Daku, now that I think about it, you never mentioned what school you came from."
The question seemed to unnerve Daku, as her eyes drifted. Flustered as to what to say, Daku let out a few words, "Well...um...it's..complicated."
"What do you mean?" asked Oni.
"I wasn't in a huntsmen school before Beacon or any school for that matter," confessed Daku, "Ms. Gylnda found me wandering alone and offered to train me."
"What about your parents?" asked Oni without thinking as Daku's eyes grew sad."
"They...They're gone," struggled Daku, "Someone killed them. I don't remember much about it."
"I'm sorry Daku, I shouldn't have pried," apologized Oni, placing her hand on Daku's shoulder.
"It's fine," she said struggling to smile, "This is why I'm here. I don't want anyone else to be ripped away from their family like I was."
"She seems determined," thought Oni, "I guess everyone has their own reasons for being here. I need to remember that."
"I just hope I can be strong enough," said Daku softly, almost muttering.
"Hmph, if that's why you're here you should pack up your bags now, save the professors the trouble," said the familiar grumblings of the Schnee bodyguard.
"No one asked you!" growled Oni, "Daku has every right to be here!"
"Does she?" growled the bodyguard, "My family dedicated our entire life to fighting. This girl only just started to train. Not everyone is made to be a fighter."
Oni looked at Daku, who seemed to be questioning herself, she then clenched her fist as Oni scowled at him, "It's people like you I can't stand. I don't care if you're a part of the Dark family or not! Your family acts no different than the Schnees, you look down upon us acting like your so much more superior to the rest of the world!"
"Don't you dare insult my family's name!" he snapped, "I am Rion Dark bodyguard to the heir of the Schnees and you will not--!"
"Students please report to the cliff side of the Emerald Forest to begin your initiation," called Glynda over the school's intercom.
"You're not worth it," huffed Rion as he walked away.
"Maybe he's right," said Daku, "Maybe I don't deserve to be here. Everyone has been training most of their lives. I'm just someone who was picked up on the way."
"Daku, don't let him get inside your head," comforted Oni, "We'll show them that even though you started later than the rest of us, doesn't mean you're not worthy of being here."
Daku smiled weakly, seeming to have cheered her up a bit. As Oni and Daku walked out of the locker room towards their initiation, Oni's hands were shaking, as she knew what it felt like to feel powerless.

Rion and many of the new students met Professor Ozpin and the woman from yesterday. They had all the students stand on square markers with the school's emblem on it. Rion stood next to Weiss, still frustrated from his spat with the red head. Looking further down the line, he saw that red head standing next to that girl called Daku, who seemed nervous of what was to come. Looking at Daku more, Rion felt something familiar from her, reminding himself of why he fought in the first place.
"For years you have trained to become warriors. And today your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest," started Professor Ozpin addressing the students.
"Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams," continued the woman, "Well allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates today."
"These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon," added Professor Ozpin, "So it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you can work well. That being said the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."
The other students began to chatter surprised by this new development. Rion just looked towards Weiss, "I've just got to make sure I don't lose sight of her so that way we don't get separated."
"After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest," continued Professor Ozpin, "You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path or you will die."
"I don't hesitate, not anymore," thought Rion.
"You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation, but our instructors will not intervene," explained Professor Ozpin, "You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will guard that item as well as your standing and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"
That blonde kid from yesterday at the end of the line, raised his hand, "Yeah, umm sir?"
"Good. Now take your positions," said Professor Ozpin as if he didn't hear him. Rion looked towards the other end of the line to see other students getting launched into the forest as the platform underneath them, spring boarded them into the air. He watched the red head get launched, then Daku followed after. Rion nodded towards Weiss before getting launched into the air.
Soaring through the air, Rion looks behind him to try and see where Weiss was launched to, as he started to get a glimpse of her in the air. Looking quickly ahead to find a large tree in his path, Rion grabbed his broadsword from his belt. As he was about to make contact, Rion used his sword to spiral down the trunk landing safely to the ground. Dusting himself off, he looked up in the sky to hopefully see if Weiss flew by. He saw the blonde girl from yesterday zoom by before finally spotting Weiss. She was descending further ahead. Rion rushed through the forest to try and meet her.
"So far so good, just got to make sure I get to Weiss before anyone else," thought Rion as he rushed through the forest, "As long as I don't run into that red-headed, loud, annoying--"
Suddenly someone walked out in front of him causing the two of them to tumble to the ground. Growling Rion looked up to see who had fallen on top of him, to his annoyance he realized what red-head had run into him, "Idiot."

"I've got to find Oni," thought Daku as she timidly walked through the forest, "Maybe if I start to head towards the ruins I'll find her along the way."
As she slowly progressed, Daku couldn't shake the feeling that she was being watched. Paranoid, Daku looked behind her, and to her relief there was nothing, "I've got to get out of here before something does come."
Just then the bushes ahead began to rustle as three dark creatures emerged, snarling. They were large wolf-like creatures with a bone-like mask with red markings. They also had bone-like spikes coming from their black bodies. Daku screeched, "Beowolfs!"
The Beowolfs slowly surrounded her as Daku kept shifting her gaze to each of them to figure out which would attack first. Her hands shook as she attempted to concentrate. The chain on her belt began to shake, but a howl from the Beowolf startled her, breaking Daku's concentration. Daku screamed, as the Beowolf's charged at her. That's when the sound of a gun fired killing one of them. As the Beowolf turned to dust, another shot was fired, killing the second one. The third Beowolf enraged at his pack being picked off, turned to see who it was. Daku looked in the same direction, but could not see what the beast was growling at. Suddenly, a short sword flung through the air, stabbing the Beowolf in the chest. Just as the beast cried in pain, someone appeared behind it, using another short sword to slice it's head off.
It took Daku a minute, but she recognized the person who saved her. The blonde haired faunes from before, stared at Daku as if she was trying to decide how to approach her.
"It's you! Thank you for saving me!" smiled Daku, as she walked up to the girl and bowed, "My name's Daku, what's your name?"
Daku's awkwardness seemed to amuse the girl as she smirked a bit before answering, "Ki."
