Chapter 4: A New Discovery

“The purple dragon has returned!” Spyro, Cynder and Sparx had arrived to the Dragon City to find that the buildings were already starting to improve as moles were walking around and working on the constructions. When one of the moles yelled out they all immediately looked to the sky to find the dragons gliding down to the ground. In one minute a whole crowd formed shouting and cheering like there was no tomorrow.

Out of the crowd one of the moles walked up to the trio calmly and when he came to stand before the two dragons he gave them a warm smile. “The guardians are waiting for you,” The mole started walking to a random direction and turned back to look at them. “Well come on, don’t want them waiting now do we?” Spyro and Cynder looked at each other and nodded as they followed the mole with Sparx not far behind.

“Oh, what is this? Forget that Sparx is here time?” The dragonfly rambled.

Spyro just chuckled at Sparx’s behaviour, “Come on Sparx.”

“Oh finally, now I’m actually get noticed.” Sparx said in a sarcastic way.

It wasn’t long until they arrived to a building that was not destroyed in the previous battle and walked inside to find the three guardians; Volteer, Cyril and Terrador all laying each on a large red cushion. As soon as the trio arrived they perked their head up to face them.

“Ah, Spyro and Cynder, good to see you both of you alright,” Cyril volunteered to talk first.

“Oh and just forget about Sparx once again! Gee that’s nice…” Sparx mumbled the last part.

“And of course you too Sparx.”

Terrador was looking around the room as if something was out of place, something or someone was missing. “Hold on, I feel like someone is missing… where is Ignitus?”

As soon as Terrador said that name Spyro immediately propped his head down in sorrow with a pained expression on his face. Cynder then put a wing on Spyro as if a way to comfort him and looked down at the sad dragon with sympathy.

The guardians immediately got the message as soon as they saw Spyro’s pained expression and hung their head in sadness. Terrador was the first one to move in the silent amount of minutes as he stood up and started to walk to the door leading outside and turned his head to face the group.

“We shall have a memorial this evening in honour for Ignitus, I will tell the city right now…” With that, Terrador left the room leaving the others to rot in what seemed like eternal silence.

The evening came and the whole city of moles gathered around the dragons that stood in the middle of the bunch as a torch of fire stood in the very centre representing the element that Ignitus took role in. Even the cheetahs from Avalar had come to witness the memorial which surprised a lot but were grateful after all.

One of the cheetahs known as Hunter walked through the crowd to stand beside Spyro who had his head slung down in sadness. The cheetah decided it was best to not say anything but just stood next to him in case.

One of the moles stood in the circle getting everyone’s attention as he cleared his throat. “Tonight, we are here to give great honour and justice to a great warrior and friend of ours who had fallen in the great battle against the Dark Master and to wish that his spirit would move on binding itself with nature and offer hope for the future.” The mole bowed in moved in with the crowd as Terrador stood in his place.

“Ignitus was a great friend and warrior and through countless times he always took place fighting for others like me and the other guardians here. It would seem like it was only yesterday, that the tide of wars would outride each other and always come to one place. I wish for his spirit to be in peace and part of nature.” Terrador left the spot he was standing and stood over to his previous space.

The night went on with speeches throughout until it was time to go to bed where everyone would sleep in the buildings untouched from the war. Spyro could not sleep, he kept thinking about the past and how it was like but there was a though on his head; now it’s over, what is there to do now? He over thought that feeling until he finally drifted into darkness for a silent slumber.

Opening his eyes, Spyro then found himself in a place of shrouded in darkness of space where he saw stars everywhere with the two Celestial Moons floating about in the background. Spyro found himself laying on a floating stone platform and saw many others floating about.

“I know this place, I’ve been here before. But I can’t get where-“ Spyro whispered to himself before seeing a celestial temple in the far distance. “What a minute, this is the place where the Chronicler would talk to me. Hello? Is anyone there?” Spyro called out seeing if he could call out the voice of the Chronicler.

Instead he got no answer as he looked back at the temple up ahead, “Looks like I’m gonna have to go there again.” Spyro said before leaping on from platform to platform until he came across a familiar circle in the ground which surprisingly had no colours of the elements on it, instead it was a dull grey. “That’s strange.”

Spyro moved up to another platform to find the same stone soldiers ready to attack at any moment. With one more step, the statues came to life and started to attack. Spyro was ready for it as he lowered his horns and dashed towards the soldier knocking it backwards as it failed to swing its sword. With a few more hits the statue was defeated and Spyro then ventured off to the other platforms.

After some time and fighting, Spyro finally came to the celestial temple as he walked inside to find the same blue circle of liquid in the centre of the room. Spyro walked towards it and had a peak through the liquid as it came up with an image. The reflection showed the shadow of a figure on two legs with big feet and hands and a round-shaped head with spikey things coming from the head.

“What is that? Chronicler I know you can hear me. Please, tell me what’s going on.” Spyro spun his head around the room looking for any source of noise but found none.

“Young dragon, I have brought you here to give you a warning of some type.” Finally, the voice had come but Spyro thought that voice sound awful familiar but he shook his head to get rid of the thought.

“What is the warning? And what is this thing in the reflection pool? Is it a shadow of someone?” Spyro heard a chuckle from the voice presumed to be the Chronicler.

“So many questions Spyro but I will answer as much as I can. Now firstly the warning is about something I’ve found in the glimpse of the future in one the books. It says that a creature from another world will come into ours and change the future by either bringing  hope, forming a bond or cause destruction in our world. And that in the reflection I presume to be the shadow of this being. Although I don’t know much but all I can say is be prepared for whatever comes at you.”

Spyro just stood there, mouth open. He couldn’t believe it, now that Malefor was gone there is more to come? “I don’t understand, are there more worlds out there that we don’t know about?”

“I’m afraid so young dragon, I’m afraid so.”

Now that question was ringing in his head, he had to get it out so Spyro took a deep breath and spoke, “And Chronicler? Why do you sound so much like Ignitus all of a sudden?”

At first there was silence but then he spoke again, “All answers will come soon young dragon, soon.”
Spyro woke up with a start, he spun his head around to get his surroundings; he was back in the room in Dragon City and saw Cynder standing before him with Sparx hovering next to her.

“Yo, Spyro man you alright? You looked like you just had a bad dream or something,” Sparx said before hovering over to Spyro’s side although still in his sight.

Spyro got up and saw that it was morning, no wonder those two were up. “Yeah, I’m fine just had a bad dream that’s all.”

Sparx then flew up above both of the dragons heads, “What is with you two and bad dreams? I mean seriously, I wake up to find Cynder mumbling in her sleep so I woke her up and she said it was a bad dream and now you’re up and- MAN! I’m having a fit this morning.”

Spyro just shook his head and looked up at Cynder, “You had a bad dream?” Cynder nodded in response, “What happened?”

BANG!

Before Cynder could answer a very loud explosion was heard and all the moles were running around freaking out. All the voices heard were words like, “What was that?” And “WE’RE UNDER ATTACK!” Which were the moles that are freaking out the most or they would be screaming.

“Hey! There’s a crater over there!” One of the moles on a higher building shouted out which got the rest their attention focused on where the mole was pointing. Spyro and Cynder nodded to each other and flew up to where the mole was pointing and stopped right where they were flying and just hovered in the air wide-eyed.

“Hey man, wait for me! Why do you guys always leave Sparx around huh and- whoa.” Before them was a huge crater in the ground to where the explosion was and was lucky to find no one hurt, or so they thought.

“Hey I think someone is in there!” Called out another mole who looked out from a high building so he almost had a bird-eye view.

With that said, a group of moles went down to the crater and started climbing down to the bottom. “We’re gonna need some more help down here!” Then another group of moles came down to help and after a while they came back out carrying something or someone. “Someone grab the guardians! I’ve never seen a creature like this and it’s unconscious!” One of the moles ran off to find the guardians while a crowd started to form around the group carrying the creature.

At this point Spyro, Cynder and Sparx flew down and the crowd allowed a path for the trio as they walked to the group of moles in the middle. They heard moles say “What is that thing?” “Is it dangerous?” “Is it alright?” “Why haven’t we seen something like this before?” “Will it hurt us?”

When the trio arrived to the scene they stopped in their tracks wide-eyed and confused but Spyro looked the most worried of them all.

Sparx then flew over to the creature which the moles laid on the ground but with back support, “Whoa what IS that blue thing or whatever it is? Hey if it’s nice can we keep it? Ooh oh I’ve got a name already, how about Spikey? No let’s call it Blue Dude, no how about-“

“Sparx! We don’t know what it is yet.” Spyro confirmed just to make the dragonfly quiet which Sparx responded by waving his hands in defence with a cheeky smile while Spyro just sighed.

It was just then the guardians had arrived while Terrador spoke up first, “Alright what is the whole trouble about?” The green dragon then looked at the creature on the ground as he looked at it surprised. “Put the blue creature in one of the rooms to rest, we’ll wait until it wakes up.”

The moles then started to carry the creature to one of the rooms to rest. Sparx then flew back to Spyro and Cynder, “You know what? Why do they say ‘it’ instead of ‘he’ cause I mean like, it’s rude you know and if I was called that then I would-“

“Sparx, give it a rest for the moment we’ll see until ‘he’ wakes up, then the questions will come.” Spyro, Cynder and Sparx then started following the moles and guardians to try and investigate more.
