Chapter Eight | The First Person
[FILLER CHAPTER]
_______
Quinn had finally gotten out of the big crowd of people, and luckily there was a clear path to the elevators so she could go to her compartment. So she could try to gather her thoughts, and just come to some sort of conclusion about what she had gotten herself in to because she knew there was no way out of it.
"Quinn,"
She stopped in her tracks. If any one had followed her, she had expected it to be Orion-- which would have surprised her. He knew to give her space. But when she turned around, she saw that it wasn't Orion-- but actually Gale.
"Where're you going?" he asked.
"My compartment." she stated simply, "I'm tired."
He rose an eyebrow, "You looked pissed off when you were leaving." he stated as he stopped in front of her, "Not tired."
"I don't want to talk about it." she stated turning to walk away, but he easily took a few steps to get in front of her again. "Leave me alone-"
"No." he stated simply, "I'm not going to let you go feel sorry for yourself like everyone else."
She stared at him. "Leave me alone." she stated again, this time more sternly. "I'm fine."
He shook his head, his feet planted firmly on the ground. "If we're going to be working together, you need to have your head on straight. I'm not going to let you get us all killed."
Quinn felt her eyebrows shoot up, and she was at a loss for words. Nobody, in a long time, had ever been so blunt to her about the way she was acting. Everyone always seemed to walk around on eggshells whenever they were around her.
"So what's wrong?" he asked again, the sound of Coin still talking came from the big room where they just were. Quinn stared at Gale, he had been the first person to talk to her like that since she was in the Capitol before her first games.
"It doesn't matter, there's nothing that anyone can do about it anyway." she stated, but Gale didn't budge. "Coins making an even bigger target for Snow. Katniss, Orion, me..."
Gale looked at her, waiting for her to continue. But Quinn didn't say anything else. She just crossed her arms and waited for Gale to leave her alone.
But he didn't move, "It's our best shot against the Capitol." he stated simply.
Quinn felt her stomach begin to drop and flip over itself. She knew that he was right-- people would listen if it wasn't just Katniss. But Snow would have an even bigger reason to try to end the rebellion once and for all.
