Let's say Alex's father (still need a name for him, any ideas?) had a thing for Adilisa, he had three kids with her; Alfred, Matthew, and Alex. They had a falling out and he somehow found a way to keep Alex. Than he hooked up with Joan shortly after. Alex was a baby at the time, so she grew up seeing her father with Joan.
