RJ's POV:

I was walking to the Zeus cabin to talk to Meredith about her brother. I knocked on the door and heard Meredith say come in. I walked in to find Meredith digging through her closet.

"Hey, Mere," I say plopping down on her bed.

"Hey RJ. What's up?" she asks.

"I think we need to talk about your brother and Ellie," I say lowering my voice. Her head popped out of the closet. Then, she walked over and sat on the bed next to me.

"Ooooo, did you snoop? Tell me everything!" She says like an Aphrodite girl getting ready to have a gossip sesh.

"Mere, it's not good news," I say looking at the floor.

"What do you mean?" She asks confused.

"Well, before I tell you, you should know Ellie already found out. They broke up," I say looking at Meredith who looked concerned now. "Tristan was cheating on Ellie with this girl Natalie. Natalie didn't know that Ellie was even dating Tristan. Ellie caught them kissing and dumped him...and did a few other things..." I say trying to resist the urge to laugh. Meredith's jaw dropped.

"My brother, a cheater. i can't believe it," She mutters shaking her head.

"Ya, neither could I," I say. "I mean I don't think he meant to hurt either of them. He's new at all this girl business. Two girls liked him and he didn't have the guts to turn one down. It started because he was trying to be nice."

"Well, I'll check on Ellie later. Right now I need a boys opinion on clothes," she laughs. My face became full of fear.

"No, no don't take me near the closet." I said whining.

"Too late!" She says dragging me to her huge walk-in closet.

"Why do you want a guys opinion?" I ask.

"Because I'm going on a date," She says calmly.

"With who? Charlie is on a quest." I say smirking. She doesn't smile.

"Umm, His name is Alex," She says biting her lip.

"Well, does Charlie knowing your going on a date?" I ask.

"He doesn't know I'm going on a second one," She says.

"A second one! I didn't now you were dating." I say.

"I'm not. I'm going on a date with my boyfriend. There's a difference," She says showing me her dress. I nod my head yes and she goes to get changed.

"When did you get a boyfriend?" I ask.

"A few days ago," She says nonchalantly.

"Thanks for the update." I say sarcastically.

"Thanks for updating me my friend is going through break up," She says sarcastically.

"Touché." I answer. "Wait, does Charlie know you have a...boyfriend?"

"Wellllllllllllllllllll."

"He doesn't does he?" I ask knowing the answer.

"Not really.... but I don't want to hurt him! And what's the big deal? Why do I have to tell him?" She asks me.

"So when he comes home he doesn't ask you out right away."

"I don't want to friend zone Charlie," She answers. "Besides, who knows how long Alex and I will even be together. It's best he never finds out."

"Ok fine whatever. Alright Mere I'll catch you later. I'm going to go to the sword arena," I say standing up.

"Ok Rj I'll see ya," she says to me.

"Bye, have fun on your date!"

"Ok I will, bye." she laughs. And with that I left her cabin.

Meredith's POV:

After RJ left I changed into the light blue dress and walked to Ellie's cabin. I walked inside not bothering to knock to find Ellie daydreaming on her bed.

"Hey El,"I say. She jumped at the sound of my voice.

"Hey Mere..." She says nervously.

"I already know everything. RJ filled me in." I say sitting down next to her.

"Oh ok. Ya, but I'm over it," She says, but to be honest she looked like she was anything but over it.

"C'mon Ell you can talk to me," I say comfortingly.

"Ok fine. Meredith, I feel awful. I really really really liked Tristan. When I found he was dating Natalie, it broke my heart. My heart is still broken. I can't help but think, was I not good enough? What did I do wrong?" She says a single tear sliding down her face.

"Oh Ellie of course it wasn't you! You're perfect! Tristan is an idiot who got too caught up in the whole 'two girls like me' thing. Don't take it personally," I say putting my arm around her.

"I thought I would have an awesome summer with him! I thought this would be my awesome summer with a boyfriend and we could swim in the lake, and have picnics, and go to the Camp dances together. But no! He just had to ruin everything!" By now all her tears were running down her face.

"Aw Ellie you don't need a boy to have a great summer. Take it from me. You think my summer has turned out to be exactly like I thought it would? No. Besides, who's to say you won't find another guy by the end of the summer?" I ask laughing.

"Yeah I guess your right..."

"I usually am."

"..your summer has been pretty bad compared to what you thought it would be like!"

"Hey! Not funny! You're the one who was just cheated on!" I retort frustrated again at the cruel fates.

New tears poured out and I immediately regretted that sentence. "no no no no no Ellie please I'm so sorry I didn't mean it! Stop crying! Please forgive me!" I say.

"It's ok I'm sorry I teased you first," she said resting her head on my shoulder.

"Aw Elle I love you, you know that?" I say to her. "Ok, I wish I could stay here all day but I've got a date to go to." I began to stand up.

Ellie crawled back under the covers and wailed, "So you have found love!"

I sighed and opened the door to leave before popping my head in one last time.

"Hey Ellie can you promise me something?" I ask her.

"Yeah sure, anything."

"Please don't do anything to my brother to get revenge. As much as what he did to you was...well...really mean and idiotic, he's still my brother and I don't want him to get hurt. Let me handle it, ok?"

"Ok," I hear a muffled Ellie from under the covers. "bye."

"Bye," I say back to her. I finally left and trudged up the hill to meet Argus. He drives me to meet Alex at a little park.

"Thanks Argus!" I yell to him. Argus just waves at me and smiles.

I see Alex sitting on a bench next to the ice cream shop. I walk over to him and sit down. He notices me and squeezes my hand.

"Hey Mere," he smiles.

I can't help but smile back. He really is cute, I think. "Hey Alex. You wanna get some ice cream?" I ask him.

"Yeah dude lets go," he says jumping up and grabbing my hand. He spins me around and we walk over to get ice cream.

"What are you getting?" I ask him staring at all the flavors.

"Hmmmmm, I think I'll go with chocolate chip," he answers. "How about you?"

"Moose tracks." I say. "it's my favorite." I couldn't help but think of Charlie since it's his favorite too. Then I mentally slapped myself for thinking about another guy on my date.

We got our ice cream cones and began to walk down the cute little path into the woods.

"So Meredith, how's camp?" Alex asks me.

"Oh I love camp. How's your summer going?"

"Oh it's good, it's good," he answers. "um Meredith, can I ask you a question?"

Oh gods, I think. Last time he asked this I ended up being his girlfriend.

"Yea of course Alex," I say anyway.

"Well um, since we are...boyfriend and girlfriend, I was just wondering if things are still going this well by the end of summer, will you be my date to the Start of School Dance?"

I admired him for asking me and not just assuming we were going together because we were a thing. I thought of how I really wanted to go with Charlie but how could I turn him down? Say I already had a date? And then what? What if Charlie isn't home yet? Then I have to go alone and face Alex or not show up and miss all the fun. I only saw one option here.

"Yeah Alex I'd love to go with you. Thanks for asking me," I say smiling at him and he smiled back. We went back and sat on the bench finishing the last of our ice cream. As we sat there I couldn't help but think how much I wanted to be with Charlie.
