Chapter #5 : Troubles arise for the Leaf.

note: This chapter takes place a few months after our favorite Elf prince began gallivanting around as our famous Robin Hood or Leaf the Green.  So his activities of helping the people  on the lake have been many.

Few months later.... in Mirkwood.....

"My King," One of the many guards and protectors of the Woodland Realm began as he walked up respectfully to Thranduil with a short bow of the head. "You have a visitor, from Laketown. Shall I let him in for an audience? He wishes to speak with you."

Thranduil thought for a moment .  "Who is he?" He questioned the guard.  "His name is Alfrid, the Master's second in command. " said Calarben , the guard.

Thranduil raised an eyebrow slightly as he looked down from his throne at Calarben . "Very well," He commanded. "Bring him in."

The Elven guard bowed, leaving to get said visitor. A few minutes later the weasel came in with the Elf, a slight grin on his face as he nodded his head in a bow. Calarben left the two to talk, going back to his duties.   "My lord," Alfrid says, standing in a slight humpback position not far from the Elven King.   "I have suspicions that I hope are not true."

"Suspicions?" Thanduil says in response, his face calm with no emotions shown. "What are you suspicious of?" "Your son."  Alfrid says with a grin. "

"My son!?" Thranduil replies, still trying not to let his anger out on the man. His son was an innocent Ellon, why would he be to blame for his suspicions?  "What cause have you to distrust my son?" He asked. Still listening.

"He's been stirring up trouble as of late in Laketown." The snake explains dishonestly.

"My son, causing problems?" Thranduil says in disbelief.  "What troubles?"

"Stirring up the people," Alfrid says. "Getting them to rise up against the Master, and disobeying our laws and orders. "

Thranduil scoffs. "My son would never do such things." He says.

"It is true Sire," Alfrid  tells him. "He goes around calling himself Leaf the Green." Thranduil pauses, he had been getting news of such a man as of late, a few of his errand runners had many a story to tell.

"And what is it you wish me to do of said rumors?" The King questioned.

"Why put an end to them of course." Alfrid says. "You're the King, his father. And he's your son." Thranduil sighs. "I will speak with him and find out for myself." He says to the dishonest man before him. "And if I find he is guilty of said crimes, I will end them."

Alfrid nods. "Good." He says with a bow, taking his leave a moment after finishing his conversation with the King.

Once Alfrid was gone Thranduil slowly walked down from his throne. His dark autumn orange cape trailing behind him as he went.  Lost in thought as he went to find his son. Hoping the rumors he'd heard were not true.

Soon he found his now grown son walking the halls of the underground palace, checking around as was his duty as part of the guard. The red haired Elleth following him.

"My son," Thranduil says in Elvish. Though knowing everyone else could understand as they spoke the same.  "I wish to speak with you." Legolas nods, stopping his walk to stand in front of his father. "Alone." He said, glancing towards his companion who politely leaves.

"What is it Father?" Legolas asks, seeing the look of troubled concern on his face. "I've heard you've been to Laketown lately." Thranduil says. "Is it true?" He asks.

Legolas nods. "That is true." He says slowly. "And just what you were doing there?" His father asks.

"Visiting." Legolas replies hesitantly. Not sure how he would take the news of his activities, should he find out. However good they may be. "And just doing so?" Thranduil questions. "Or were you doing other things as well?"

Legolas started to explain but Thranduil momentarily stopped him. "And do not lie for I will know if you do."

"Why would I lie father?" Legolas says. "I always tell you the truth." The king sighed, looking at his son. "I do not know," He says. "I have heard many things as of late, and all of them concern you."

Legolas raised an eyebrow. "Rumors? Of my doing what?" He asked.  "Causing trouble in Laketown." Thranduil says. "And I hope they are not true."

"You mean helping the people," Legolas says, a little irritated. "Who told you these rumors? The Master's right hand man? The people are oppressed, they needed help."

"Breaking laws and tormenting the lawmaker is not helping the people Legolas." Thranduil says firmly. "But I did no such thing!" Legolas exclaimed. "Providing the people with aid is no crime." "I am sorry Legolas, " Thranduil begins. "But what you have done was. You no longer have permission to leave Mirkwood." "You punish me when I have done no wrong!" His son says. Crossing his arms slightly.

"I am sorry, " Thranduil says. "But until I prove otherwise this is the way it must be." Legolas sighed, running a hand through his blond hair before going someplace to think and cool down. He would get to the bottom of these rumors, and show his father that he was right...hopefully.
