The Next Morning

Zaid's POV

It was 3 am in the morning when Alveera finally stopped crying and fell asleep. I didn't like seeing her this way, but she was the most frustrating person on earth.

She was so stupid. She never ate properly, hardly ever drank water, but when it came to drinks, there was no stopping her. I remember the last time she drank so much. It was this party after graduation when Arjun had said something bad to her. This was different. No one bad mouthed her or anything, so why?

I was tired of her not taking care of herself. So when I saw her all drunk and imbalanced, I felt the need to get her to eat something. She didn't even live with Gia anymore. She didn't have anyone, so I had to.

I wish someone fixed her ego though. She didn't even let me easily help her out. She was being rebellious again. Piss off.

Fortunately, she was fast asleep now, so I got up, wore my shoes and headed out. Anousha must be pissed off at me. Given how Jai couldn't keep his mouth shut about me and Alveera. So I had to go to her place to make it up to her. I didn't want to hurt her, so it was best that I went and met her.

As I was leaving the room, I saw Alveera sleeping. There was something about her that made me want to stay back. Perhaps it was the fact that she looked so helpless, but it was time that I stopped caring about Alveera and started caring about my girlfriend Anousha.

So, I headed out and drove to Anousha's place.

"DING DONG," the bell rang and a very sleepy Anu came and unlocked the door.

"What are you doing here?" She asked, yawning.

I grabbed her by her waist and carried her to her room.

"Zaid, yeh kaisa mazaak hain?" He asked as she giggled sleepily.

As we entered her room, I put her down on her bed, took my shoes off, changed into my boxers and got into bed with her.

She was lying on one side as I spooned her from the back.

"I'm sorry for last night baby, I should've told you about Alveera," I said as I nuzzled into her hair,"but I didn't think she'd be there."

"It's fine, she seems really nice," she said," doesn't seem like your type though."

I chuckled a little and asked her why she thought so.

She said that Alveera was too perfect and proper. Like the typical perfectly smart, beautiful girl. She thought that I didn't like girls like that.

Little did she know that I didn't like girls like that anymore because they always reminded me of Alveera. She was different. She was spirited, vivacious and so many other things that made her absolutely irresistible. Even last night when she got all feisty, she reminded me of the girl I had fallen in love with, all full of spirit, not taking no for an answer.

"Zaid, kahaan kho gaye?" Asked Anu as she snapped me out of my thoughts.

"No nothing. Yeah Alveera and you are poles apart," I said, "but she's nice and a friend."

"Yeah, and I'll be nice to her because she is nice and because you still love her," she said.

"What?" I replied, quizzically.

"As a friend baba, chill," she said as she pecked my lips, hugged me and slept.

"I did love her, as a friend," I thought to myself as I tried my best to sleep. However, throughout that night, I was worried about Alveera. I had just left her there. I felt terribly guilty for some inexplicable reason. She really needed me, I was her friend and I just abandoned her.

Her thoughts didn't let me sleep so after thinking about all this for an hour or so, I kissed Anu goodbye, told her how I was going to go over to my place because I had some work left, and I left.

I went over to Alveera's place to check up on her. Her door was unlocked so I assumed she had already woken up, so I just walked in.

I was scanning the room when I saw Alveera walk in. She was wearing an oversized t shirt with panties. Yes, just that.

"What the ffu-"she cried,"Zaid!" She immediately ran to her room and grabbed her pants.

"Calling bell hain bahar," she said snarkily as she walked out.

"Door pe lock bhi hain," I replied, equally snarkily.

She rolled her eyes and went over to the kitchen. She was probably making breakfast.

"You look sick, didn't you sleep at night?" She asked.

"Aap ki meherbani hain," I replied smiling.

She looked at me, pretty annoyed and said, "thanks for last night, you didn't have to."

She was so egotistical. She couldn't even thank me properly. Ugh.

"How're you feeling now?" I asked.

"Better, coffee?" She offered.

I took a cup and sat beside the counter table.

"I'm sorry if I said anything that was out of line last night, I was drunk," she said, guiltily.

"You didn't say anything that was out of line, you were just upset," I said," and it's fine, I'll always be there for you."

She immediately looked at me, as I looked at her and for a moment, something happened. She then looked away and went back to whatever she was doing.

"You're here for some work?" She asked as she flipped her pancakes over.

"Yeah I left my keys here last night, came here to get them," I lied.

"How'd you get home if you kept your keys here?" She asked.

Damn, she caught me. So I turned it around and said how I had left my home keys here.

"Where'd you go after you left here?" She asked.

"Anu's place," I replied.

I saw how her expression changed and she suddenly became a little distant.

"Okay, you got your keys, anything else?" She asked coldly.

"No," I replied as I started to get up.

"Eat," she ordered as she placed a plate full of pancakes in front of me.

"You can cook?" I asked, chuckling.

She sneered at me and drizzled some maple syrup on top with chocolate chips.

I took a mouthful and God, that was delicious. I couldn't believe that Alveera had made them.

"Al, these are so fluffy and yum," I said excitedly," kahaan ae sikha?"

"You like them?" She asked enthusiastically,"mujhe do."

I took a spoonful as she came close to me and sat on the counter in front of me and I put the spoonful in her mouth.

"So goooood," she replied as she licked her lips in awe of how tasty the pancakes were and laughed away in the cutest way ever.

For a moment, I kept staring at her as I laughed with her. She was so adorable. I stood up and went in front of her, still staring into her beautiful brown eyes.

The atmosphere had changed, we were both looking into eachother's eyes now as I moved closer to her. I wasn't really thinking. I could just see her and nothing else. When suddenly, my phone rang and I moved away.

"Zaid, kahaan ho?" Asked Anu from the other end.

"Why?" I asked, finally coming back to reality.

"No, just wanted to check up on you," she said.

I told her that I was fine and that I was going to talk to her later.

I then awkwardly said goodbye to Alveera and left.

This was really weird. I was going to stay away from Alveera, I promised myself.
